    Great video Jeff as always,. Draining ours this week, finally warm enough. I found a garden hose sprayer that has a flat fan setting on it, perfect for pleats on the filter. keep em coming!!

    That's exactly how I clean mine too. The only thing I do differently is clean my neck jets with a toothbrush and the white vinegar. I find any jets that are above the water line get the dirtiest. Great video

    I moved to a home that has a hot tub that we haven't used yet. It has some water in it. Maybe from rain or something like that. I obviously cannot do the biofilm cleaning first because there isn't enough water in the tub. So do I just skip that step and just clean the hot tub or do I fill it up and do the biofilm cleaning and drain it off and then clean it? The water fills the deepest bottom side of the hot tub. Thanks.

    QUESTION: I've had a few friends with spas and at draining time, they apply about a one foot (liquid) auto wax strip (covering the high and low water line) and they say it keeps any water deposits from sticking. Have you heard of this? and what do you think? Thanks for the great videos!

    Hey Jeff, love your hit tub school. 😊. Hey , so I drained my tub cleaned shell. Filled it, adjusted chemical levels..didnt have to do much here just raise alkalinity. New filter in.
    Next day my oil absorbing sponges were brown. 😳. No one went in spa. So I changed my sponges..(I put 2 in) and next day Brown again. Whats going on here? Any thoughts?

    Just did mine (first time ever. New owner) water is just almost to temp, look at my phone and you did a video same day. I used a big bucket of hot water with a few drops of dawn and some bleach to clean. And I bailed the footbed with a bucket. So I only had to vac just a bit.

    I have a life smart hot tub. It has a rough porous finish. My problem is staining and even foot prints and fingerprints get stuck on the surface.I’ve tried the vinegar doesn’t work. Any suggestions on a cleaner?

    I just emptied and refilled mine as well, but noticed a number of scuffs, some black, but most red on the surface of the tub. The majority were in the area where your feet go, so I'm assuming it was from nail polish from a young lady's toes. I called the store that installed my hot tub, and they said to use diluted (about 50%) rubbing alcohol and a minimally abrasive sponge. It worked, but definitely took some elbow grease, as well as some time. Do you have any better tips for removing surface scuffs like that?

    I love your videos. Could you do one on benefits and drawbacks of circulation pumps? Do you have one in your Master Spas hot tub? I am buying a Master Spas LSX700 and the circulation pump is a premium option. I am wondering if it is worth it.

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Circulation isn’t a problem in hot tubs less than 500 gallons or so. The main pump cycles several times a day which is sufficient. A secondary pump for circulation is superfluous and another potential point of failure. Save your money

    Total Dissolved Solids and visible debris are 2 different things. TDS are not visible because they are DISSOLVED chemicals within the water. The visible debris is always excluded from the water sample so they are not measured as total dissolved solids. TDS is not an issue with hot tubs because the water is changed every 3-4 months

    This is a great video. I am about to drain my spa for the first time this weekend for a new spa I recently purchased. When I do so, I am planning to use bromine instead of chlorine. Is there is a specific process to follow or do I simply put in the bromine tablets after filling the hot tub? I planned to adjust alkalinity, ph first and then sanitizer. I am not sure if I need to use the chlorine shock to initially add sanitizer and then add bromine tablets?

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just add bromine tablets in a floater immediately after the fresh water fill. Leave the fins on the floater wide open and check the bromine level every 2 days. Once you reach 4ppm you can close the fins so barely open. It may take 5-7 days to reach than level but not a problem because the fresh water won’t foul in that short time. Every week you will need to add a few new tablets. After each use I add small dose (1/4 oz) mps non-chlorine shock. Every 2 weeks shock with small dose of cal hypo shock. Change water every 4 months. Clean filter every 4 weeks. That may sound like a lot but it’s a simple system. Most hot tub problems are from lack of attention or lack of understanding. Good luck

    I just emptied and cleaned mine. I left about 2 cups of tub of bleach/water solution in a dish and covered the tub. Hopefully this keeps mold and insects away while it's empty.

    I use a towel to sap up the extra water that the pump doesn't take out after cleaning
