Despite what it may seem like on the surface, some Pokemon have lives that are never ending TORTURE, and in this video, we will be exploring just how bad it is for some of the Pokemon we know and love.

Spoink constantly bouncing is probably similar to how humans are constantly breathing. At some point, they probably just bounce involuntary. Humans could also die at any moment, so they have to constantly breathe to reset their timer
That's actually a great way to look at it. However, I'd go out on a limb and say that's getting your bouncing interrupted or rhythm messed up is way "easier" than breathing
In other words, interupting it's bouncing rythem is the equivalent of choking someone to death.

Something I realized from Spoink.
In it's debut games, Ruby and Sapphire, its habitat was the Jagged Pass, a place full of ledges, a place perfect for a Pokémon who's always jumping
It’s especially obvious when you realize that you need to bounce in order to properly traverse the place. That’s a very good detail from the developers.
My headcannon is that friendship is what negates the pain of mega evolution and is why its “required” but isn’t always present so most just are suffering
Yeah, this is a good explanation for it. I know it isn't the best place for getting actual lore, but the anime actually has shown an example of *forced* Mega evolution before (Was the Volcanion/Magearna movie) and I vaguely remember mentioning of them being in pain because of it (Could be misremembering that). So, that headcanon really isn't too far off imo.
then again it was most likely game freak way of trying to slowly let mega phase out given these Dex entry were added in gen 7 so to tel player don't use mega as will make your pokemon suffer and mega was consider an outdated gimmick to them

I like to think of Mega evolution as this thing that the Pokemon does fully knowing what it's going to do to them, but they do it anyway because they're going to back their trainer in ANY situation. It's like letting the Beast out to protect your family.

The painful mega evolution dex entries are only in the Alola games- where the pokedex is a Rotom. You have to wonder if there's any bias there.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't mention the Galar fossils. Their parts are so incompatible that they're constantly suffering and just should not exist. The only reason they do is because of trainers bringing fossils to a careless scientist. You as the player are bringing these creatures to life, just for them to suffer forever
I’m kind of surprised you didn’t mention how Parasect is based off a real fungus that turns insects into zombies - the cordycep.
And the insects are conscious; they're aware of what their body is doing, but can't control it.

@@Blue-fg8vt Parasect _is_ dead. A PokéDex entry says that if its mushroom is removed, it stops moving. I.e. mushroom is basically controlling a bug corpse.
Y’know, since Mimikyu is native to the region with Z-moves, that is probably the best it can do instead of using its face as that would kill the Pokémon, its trainer and any spectators, which is almost definitely illegal and would disqualify it from any tournaments/battles. Guess its life really is a never ending nightmare.

I reckon Cascoon is an honourable mention, since all the pain it experiences in that form is permanently engraved into it's memory, even after evolution.

Isn't jumping to spoink just like breathing to humans? Not really torture if it does it 24/7 as if it were instinctive, pretty sure it's body would've adapted to something like that.
Also feebas, I'm pretty sure fish would rather be "ignored and shunned for their entire lives" than actually be noticed by some fisherman and end up in a capsule for most of their lives, constantly put in pokemon battles and live in the fear of being filleted everyday.

The spoink thing has always annoyed me for this reason, people always go on about it being such a huge deal when like you said it would be akin to breathing.
Also, you don’t just die IMMEDIATELY if your heart stops beating which a lot of people don’t seem to realise.

Spoink's bouncing might take more energy than breathing, but I'm sure it takes less energy than swimming, and sharks have to basically swim constantly.

Well, the torture part of Mega Evolution only happened during ORAS. I think it was because one employ who was in charge of writing the dex entries hated the idea of Megas and made them seem terrible. They were actually pretty good for the Pokemon in XY
not in ORAS, but in Sun & Moon
because some employ who was in charge in ORAS dislike Mega Evolution and so they/he/she decide to ditch those by making it looks terrible in the dex entries of the next game

There weren’t any PokeDex entries for mega forms in Pokémon X/Y and Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. That is only in Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon so far.

Some Pokemon are actually happy with their Mega Evolution, like Ampharos and Pinsir.

How can you make a video about Pokemon whose lives are never ending torture and not talk about the Galar fossils?
There's some additional points among these tortures that I think add to it
Spoink - There's not that much additional things I can think of to add here, but the most notable one for me is you can never sleep by consequence of constantly bouncing. There was one time I didn't sleep for 3 days because I was sick and couldn't fall asleep without coughing every 30 seconds. During the days I hadn't slept, especially after the 2nd day weird things started to ensue, couldn't concentrate, sounds started not to register correctly, vision getting blurry, etc. So, since Spoink cannot under any circumstance stop bouncing it never gets to sleep either by extension, because sleep requires there to be a lack of mental concentration.
Mimikyu/Feebas - Loneliness is an interesting beast, there is also a lot of consequences of loneliness that worsen the problem further than what you'd think. A lonely person is usually left with themselves and their brain and the brain is not something you want to be spending hours on end with, it can actually drive you completely insane. Some things the brain likes to do is replay memories that you have acquired in your life over and over again without end. In the case of a Lonely person the type of memories they have will be mostly negative with very rare positive memories, so they will predominately have their negative memories being replayed. This can add to the affect of the memory in question making negative memories even more negative than they originally were. Another thing that happens with memories is if you have mostly negative memories your positive memories will be infected by them and the positivity will be lessoned and replaced by regret where it can be.
To sum up the mind and its properties with internal thinking there is 2 different places in it, The Light where things are relatively safe, and the Dark maze.
The darkest places of the mind happen in a maze like fashion because if you have something like prolonged loneliness you begin to observe behaviors and not exhibit them. This makes you ask questions about what is and what isn't. Why people who are not lonely act a certain way. Why are you trapped and loneliness and what are the main reasons why you feel the way you do. Overall, this leads to the destroying of your own internal emotions and suppresses your ability to show outward expression normally, causing you to be more lonely. Everyone does differently with being lonely, some come out of it alright, but some only get deeper into the maze until it becomes life threatening. Overall, the less time people have with only their brain's for company, the better.
Psyduck - Psyduck is a case that the extent of the torture has to do with the headaches being normal. Since psyduck has never had a moment without a headache since birth that means that having a painful headache is actually all psyduck knows, to put it more blatantly, psyduck does not know what it feels like to not be in pain. Therefore, constant head pain is what psyduck thinks is the absence of pain.
Mega Evolving/Whismur/Espurr - nothing really to add here
Parasect - Invasion of the mind can have consequences that are extremely painful. The lack of free will means that parasect is in the position of being strapped to something that is constantly moving forward and you are at mercy to whatever type of painful torture is in that path coming forwards. If there is something that can impale you that you are going towards you can't stop yourself from being impaled. Its the most similar to roman torture of being at the mercy of people who wants to do unspeakable things to you.
Komala - if the brain is bad company in loneliness then being at the mercy of your brain is even worse. When you are asleep your brain sends you images and makes you go through dreams with these images. The only problem here is you cannot control what these images are, so there is nothing stopping your brain from making these a torturous nightmare. Since Komala is constantly asleep, it is possible that it can be constantly in nightmares.
Cubone (crying about mother's skull), Darkrai (always causing nightmares), Charmander (dies when their flame ends), Metapod (unable to move; waiting for evolution), Magikarp (literally called the most useless and pathetic all the time), Banette (discarded doll with hatred and self-destruction upon opening its mouth), Spiritomb (being an energy bubble of hatred and evil), Yamask (transformed human carrying around their original face and cry about it), Cubchoo (always having a cold), Cosmoem (unable to move), Guzzlord (constantly hungry) and Arctovish (constant breathing and eating difficulties) are also candidates for this list.
Phantump is similar to Yamask (dead child possessing tree stump)

Parasect's Yellow Pokédex entry say that the bug is mostly dead and Ultra Sun's says that the mushrooms do all the thinking so I don't think the host is conscious or in any psychological torment.

I know Mega Evolutions only last until battle is over but the title made me think of Mega-Aerodactyl, there’s a Pokédex entry that mentions the process of Mega Evolution causes it horrible pain whenever it goes into battle 😭😭😭

I have suffered from a headache that never truly goes away for the last ten years. It is one of the most annoying things, even if I can largely ignore the lower pain levels. Changes in temperature or pressure, stress, anxiety, etc, all make the headache worsen. Sometimes it spikes and recedes repeatedly, which is a far worse feeling. So yeah, I empathize with Psyduck. At least he gets cool psychic powers to go along with the pain.

I think spoink probably doesn't mind the constant bouncing for the same reason any animal can move like it does, it's built for it

You kinda forgot about slowbro and slowking.Similar to parasect,shellder is a host to slowpoke and when it's bite it's tail,it evolves to slowbro.Due to shellder's poison,Slowbro has now psychic powers.Ans slowbro is also in constant pain due to shellders's poison.In Slowking's case,shellder has completely invaded slowpoke's brain by injecting poison to it.And is has now tremendous psychic power.But,it's suffering can end if the shellder disattach to slowbro or slowking and, slowbro or slowking will go back to slowpoke and it forgets everything it learned.

I lOVE Pokemon and I'm a pretty big fan but there is something that maybe fans don't realize: when you catch a Pokemon, it's like catching a live creature out of his home or habitat and force him or her to fight others...
I know most people won't agree on that that's why I'm just pointing it out.
These guys and so many other Pokemon suffer. They always ask "Who's that Pokemon?", but they never ask "How's that Pokemon?"

In the case of spoink, I think its bouncing is probably just like breathing for humans. Like humans have to breathe all the time, even while sleeping, and spoink needs to bounce. If they stop, they die, but it's not hard to just keep going. It makes sense to me? Idk
It's actually more like fish than humans. Many species have to keep swimming to pump water through their gills to breathe and the only time they can rest is when there's a strong enough current passing through a place they can brace themselves and let the current push through their gills.

I think the strong bond with a trainer is required for Mega Evolutions because otherwise, the Pokemon will get mad at the trainer for putting through immense pain, and attack them.

I like to think of Mega evolution as this thing that the Pokemon does fully knowing what it's going to do to them, but they do it anyway because they're going to back their trainer in ANY situation. It's like letting the Beast out to protect your family.

I also believe necrozma suffers from never ending torture because necrozma used to be a light giving dragon of pure light, but necrozma got its light absorbed by the greedy people of ultra megalopolis and this turned necrozma into a black prism dragon with a dragon torso and this turned necrozma into a hostile pokemon. Poor necrozma who gives the region light, the people of ultra megalopolis deserves to die for their greediness and deserves to be killed by necrozma because necrozma is my favorite legendary pokemon and necrozma is a menacing dragon of light.

Well, Komala’s life seems to be either very good or very bad. Because, if he is asleep there is 3 scenario. First, he doesn’t dream at all, and at this point, it’s like he isn’t even born, so it’s neither good nor bad, it’s just nothing. The second case is he is constantly dreaming, and that would be AWESOME. Imagine living in the world of your dreams, there wouldn’t have any happier pokemon. I think mega evolution being painful is to explain why you almost never see it and why no Pokémon stay in that form. And why it takes bonding with the trainer: they’re willing to go that extra mile, even if it hurts.

Actually, Parasect IS the mushroom/fungus. It's stated several times across different dex entries and most prominently in the new Hisuin dex, that the dead bodies of Parasect without their mushrooms have been found in the wild. Apparently Paras' body is incompatible with life when it evolves unless it has the mushrooms on it.
