    I think andertons did the best demo of this headphone with the binaural microphone that the boss rep brought with him. I was super impressed with what this headphone could do and with proper VR application in the future, this might change how we consume media such as live concerts.

      I ain't wearing headphones at some concert. It seems prone to theft, will break quickly and will never be as good as a real Amp turned up to 11. Nevermind the fact this could be worse for your ears, depending on your position relative to the stage. Nevermind the fact that I want all that complicated garbage. Not everything needs technology.

      I picked up noise cancelling polk earphones, a cab and a micro terror. Total under 400. Micro terror + cab able to be gigged with as well. "or so I'm told" at least. I just use mine for quiet practicing or if I'm trying to nickle and dime an effect via the noise cancelling headphones.

    • @theoriginalheartstrummer
      @theoriginalheartstrummer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I agree. If you already had a laptop you could just buy logic and a cheap interface of some kind and then at least you could record anything you played and add other tracks like the drummer track, and play along to any TH-cam backing track etc. There'd be cheaper ways too but I'd go for that over this. But someone might just want a super compact practice/jam setup. If so, then my question would be: can I listen to a metronome through them while playing, and can I play along to backing tracks from anywhere through them?

      Tom Scholz made the Rockman in the early 1980's. He even recorded albums through it. Not as versatile, but you did not need a SMARTphone or tablet and an app just to even use it (which did not exist then anyway). These are bricks without the tablet and app it seems. Kinda lame. $399? I'll take an old Rockman off Ebay.

    From what I've seen these are really cool. The only thing I'm iffy about is price. Compared to the other products in the other katana line, these are expensive. For less than $100 more, for example, you can get the 2x12. I'm just left questioning the value and if these should have been 2 or 300 instead.

    Tom Scholz of the band Boston invented the Rockman in the early 1980's. It did not need a tablet and an app to function. You could plug any model of headphones into it, and it had a line out. It's tone was "good" enough that Tom and several other pro artists recorded albums through one as the main guitar sound. It had clean and distortion tones, but not super high gain metal tones, as they did not exist at the time. It ate batteries which you had to buy. No rechargeable batteries back then for consumer electronic gear. It had an AC adapter too though. This was almost 40 years ago. Anyway, this is nothing new or even special, since you need to have extra gear to even use it. It is a brick without a tablet with the app on it? No thanks.

    Super interesting product GF, this is missing wired in and outs. I still lean towards THR with line outs, and record, plus I can take cans off and hear myself. $400 for headphones w/ Li-Ion batteries’ and 3-5 year lifespan with no input or future usage potential is a concern personally.
    I’ve also heard this first batch has some “drift effect” that may or may not be fixed via firmware update. Seems that Boss may have been a bit aggressive on the steering of volume between left and right ears. Definitely on my radar for Waza-Air mk ii.

    Cost versus functionality, it doesn’t work for me. It sounds great, I’ve heard it. But i can connect headphones to my iPad and jam through Bias effects and get some great tones and even record using plug in effects. Then when I’m done recording I can play a game or surf the web or do some painting on Procreate. Without recording capabilities it just doesn’t have enough value to justify $400.

    Just wish there was some kind of demo on how they actually sound. As far as I know boss/katana/Waza has really good tones but a quick taste if the sound would have been nice, they seem cool overall

    As i understand, it's a sending device plugged into your guitar, connected to your system where the amp- and cabsim software is running + the headphones that recieves the audio signal from that system via bluetooth, loaded with not to nessecary features that would justify the price of 400$. So... for what reason do i need these headphones? Wait... is the sender connected with the system or with the headphones?

    He Glenn.
    Great video. I also seen this headphone pop-up on youtube lately and I would love to use it. One question however. I always play the guitar with youtube backing tracks and Bias Fx on the Ipad. Bias fx can do "Background Audio Mode" that keeps Bias FX running when you switch to another app. TH-cam must be running in order for you to hear the track. I know you can load music with the headphone but can it also run in the background ? Thanks Glenn 👍

    Can I import my already created tones from the tone studio? And if I could use my boss footswitch with it, it would be killer. Like being able to access my effects and turn on and off phaser etc with the foot pedal they make for the mkII amps.....this would be great however for playing in the living room or wherever you don't feel like moving your amp to. Love my katana artist mkII 100 watt but it stays in my jam space, if I wanna play in my living room or bedroom it's a hassle to move and cables etc....
