Got a Chromebook last black Friday and I've been loving it. Just recently discovered the extended display capability and paired with a big, curved MSI monitor... just wow. The productivity potential here is insane
I really like these type of video's on Chromebook setups and accessories. I have a Pixelbook as well and love to see other setups folks come up with. Thanks Robby!
I’m surprised the google pixel chrome book is your top pick but I trust you implicitly. Maybe it’s the voice, maybe the face, maybe the energy, or maybe all of it.
I needed this video bc I am about to start doing gaming vids and don't have a pc some I'm gonna use my chromebook and I'm gonna hook up to my extra monitor to look at the footage as I record
Want to be a "content producer" for the long haul? Get yourself an ergonomic keyboard. When it comes to keyboards, don't follow the "it's so sleek and small" hype (looking at you, Apple). Trust me on this, people. I write for a living. Friends of mine washed out of journalism because they ruined their hands/forearms with years of hard use on a conventional keyboard.
I think most people will be fine with sleek hardware since they do not spend hours typing continuously as a writer would. What you explain works for you but most people aren't writers or type as much as writers.
Great looking setup. If I were still working this would be a good roadmap. As it is now, my lap is my desktop where I use my recently (and first) purchased Chromebook (Dell 14 2 in 1) based on your review. After more years than I will admit using windows products, Chrome OS is a breath of fresh air. Thanks and keep up the good work!
I have just a regular desk/chair, but I have an Asus Chromebox 3-N017U mounted to the back of my 27" monitor so fewer cables are visible, with all the usual wireless peripheries, and I love it. It does everything I need elegantly. I may need to add upgrade my monitor having seen your video.
I have this exact setup too actually, it works pretty well. Gets over the laptop-screen-and-keyboard problem when writing long documents / need many simultaneous windows open.
You post a lot of great stuff! Short and to the point with great important info. I am new to chromebook's and loving my pixelbook go. I liked and subscribed.
I used to use two monitors on my Desktop, and my Chromebook as a "3rd monitor". That way I didn't have to alt tab out of a game or something, to use Chrome. Now I have a 3rd monitor and my chromebook doesn't fit on my desk! Lol
I like that you guys always review hardware. It's great! But if you want to really support this platform, you gotta show us what it can really do. Start using and reviewing software or features that come from first or third party. Pretend I'm a business, how would I be able to totally convert from PC/Mac to chrome OS Maybe get some sponsorship with chrome OS developers who are willing to allow you to download, test and review their apps
@Michael Murphy Yeah, I bought a chromebox for my parents, its one of the best LONGEST lasting investments I've ever made. I still remember how it was a core i7! dell chromebox, tiny, and only cost me $200ish. that was 4 whole years ago! My parents have since NEVER once asked me how to do something on it. They use it almost everyday for news and youtube videos. I'm so happy with the purchase. I've got a macbook myself, only because I need it for VS code and video editing software and even blender. I wish chrome OS would at least have some on board software... I just don't see how I'll ever get away from a traditional computer that runs all these things. I do know that one day all these programs might run on the cloud sorta like what adobe is doing... but honestly... I don't think I'd want to pay $10/month subscription plans for all these cloud based softwares. Oh and pretty soon when google releases Stadia... chromebooks will play AAA games with ease.
Just picked up the Samsung Galaxy 4K Chromebook and I like this desk setup. The monitor looks great but some time has past, do you have any other monitor suggestions that would work well with the Galaxy?
I set my HP X360 so that it does not sleep when the top is closed. Then it can be placed under the monitor and out of the way for a super clean and minimal look.
Question? I have a very similar set up, including the LG wide format monitor. I use an usb mouse and keyboard attached through a dongle, which is used for power also. I have had a difficult time finding a dongle that will support the wide format monitor, do you know of one? I currently am using an usb c to HDMI cable but would love to run everything through a single connection. Thanks!
I have the Microsoft travel mouse. For me flat mice are more ergonomic so I really like it. Battery lasts a long time, pairs easily although I use 2 Operating Systems Linux Mint and Windows. I have to re-pair when I switch OS. Most of the time I boot consistently into Linux and it pairs every time. Plus it comes in colors.
Because it has such a wide range of uses. Chrome OS Chrome Web Apps Chrome Extensions Android Apps Windows Apps MacOS Apps (shoddy for now) Linux Apps What can't you do with that list of accessible operating systems? And you don't need a top tier spec list to do most of these.

The potential is there.
