- I'm having a hybrid electric sailing catamaran built in thailand and it is almost finished. The deck has been bonded to the hull and the components are being installed. Just a few more omnths and the boat will be in the water!

Awesome to be able to see all the bulkheads and structure before it's sealed up. So useful when you do work on the boat years from now. I assume you took a lot of pictures.

I’m so excited for you Bobby with the Spirit 525e. The sailing industry really is rapidly evolving with so many hybrid and e-boat technologies. Not just Solar but also hydro regeneration using sail and the props to charge the lithium batteries just makes sense. Low carbon impact, quiet electric motoring and not constantly having to refuel with Diesel is the way to go for lower cost lower impact sustainable cruising. You really show sailing or motoring the full range of boats, mono hulls, catamarans and trimarans. From your current temp project Searay Sundancer 340 to huge Lagoons with fly bridges, the number of charters and boat projects you’ve had is staggering. It seems like everyone is getting new boats made and they are all different. Nikki and Jason with Gone with the Wynns are getting their HH 44, Elena and Riley with Sailing La Vegabonde just got their Rapido 60 Trimaran, Nick and Terysa with Sailing Ruby Rose are breaking in there new Seawind 1370, Kristina and John with Kristina’s Travels are sailing their loaned brand new Jeanneau 55, Nick and Megan with The O’Kelly’s are setting off across the Atlantic passage to get their new loaner Outremer 55 to a boat show on time. Ashley and Ben with Sailing Nahoa are building an explorer aluminum Nahoa 55. What a great time to watch and compare all the great options in ocean cruising boats. Beautiful boat Bobby, I can't wait to see the final product. The SeaRay was a good boat for getting around the local area. I had a SeaRay Sundancer 320 when I was teaching F-15C familiar training Tyndall AFB in Panama City. Good times were had by all.

My tayana 37 was hit by lightning. Cooked everything. Took over 12 months to be able to have everything working again. I had to sail like the old days with paper charts and binoculars. Sounds nice to have anti-lightning device.
there is no such tech that acctually prevents lightning strike to a sailboat.
No, but a grounded mast can reduce the probability. I remember coming out of a storm on a Bermuda to Tortola crossing with a backstay antenna and the arrester sounded like bacon frying. No problem

Was watching a program on the Black Pearl electric three masted 107-meter sailing yacht and they have ability to use the props to run the motors as generators to charge batteries. If wind is not going in right direction for your desired direction, you can take some time out and point the boat temporarily in a direction to make use of wind and water currents for battery charging.
Creates a whole new concept of tacking to maximize battery charging.

Bobby, this was a wonderful walk through. Very impressive, one of your best. Really impressed by the builder and his explanations. My father was a wood boat builder in the 50's and 60's for Steven's Marine in Ca. He would be very impressed with what is going on here. I'll send him the link. Very nice electric cat and she will make a very comfortable live aboard.However she is a very heavy girl and don't expect high performance out of her.

Better buy lots of Insurance, if that Battery Blows Up , it’s going to Burn 🔥 keep your little boat stock up to survive till the coast guard’s can get to you , I wish you nothing but the best wishes and hope it never happen’s to anyone, but I’ve heard nothing about Pecentages of cars , truck,motorcycle’s but there have been a few on the News Reported , it worries me, I wouldn’t buy one, hopefully they solved the problem, I watch the video all the time and love watching the video on TH-cam, I see you 👀 have your new boat , hope your happy with it

We have a local marina with a 150kW/h DCFC for electric boats. Talked to a owner using it on day last year. Just a day boat for running around the 1000 Islands, but he loves the electric drive.

To “smooth it all out”, they use fairing compound. Watch MJ Sailing, where they are building their own catamaran from a kit to see how much work goes in.

I’m sure it’s a wonderful boat. I wouldn’t be too concerned about near coastal cruising but I’d be hard pressed to set off across the Pacific with those batteries underneath my deck. As we all are learning, they burn, and when they do, you can’t put them out. They destroy whatever they’re in.
LFPs are supposed not to burn. Who are the all learning that they burn ?!
@@johnmayer3433, Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries have a “lower risk” but they are not fireproof. Just ask Siri, she will educate you.
@@johnmayer3433, LFP’s are “less likely” to burn. They will still burn under the right circumstances. Once they start it’s very difficult to extinguish them.

Anti lightning, that's funny, good luck with that, not to sound to pessimistic but where's the science behind it, best just to make things easy to replace just in case. Mother nature does what she does. BTW the boat looks amazing and hope to be getting one too in a few years.

I'm sure the engineers there are eager to hear your feedback on performance? What is the difference in fuel savings vs cost to own?

I get that this is their first boat of the new 525 hull style but imho they didn't get much done since your last visit. Main cause for the delay are the issues with the edge banding on the cabinetry I guess? I would count on delivery in 2025.
Nice boat, except the batteries. You can't find places to charge cars on land, what do you do out on the sea's for charging? How many thousands of $ are the batteries and where can you dispose of the batteries? What's the weight of electric motors and batteries? And who's certified to work on them? 😂 Good luck
Looks good! My uninformed recommendation is add a second auxiliary generator think of it as a pony motor similar to a Nordhavn. 😊🍻🇺🇸

Bobby, great boat! I find the video both exhilarating and demoralizing. How you maintain your composure over the delay amazes me. All hulls have been pushed back 3 months in production - do you think that is realistic? (I’m hull #5)

What are the hinges anchored too in the cabinet doors? Meaning with the euro style hinges the pocket that is drilled out offers a lot of the strength and longevity of the door.

Thanks for update on the boat. On your dingy, I have heard from boater here in SE Texas, Yamahas are the best outboards. 9-10 boats around Galveston have Yamaha engines. What motor are you thinking of?
