    My mother’s college year book, were covered with messages of telling her she looked just like Gene Tierney! Her pics in the year book covered 45 pages she was pictured on! My college friends begged to spend holidays or even weekends to visit momma! I miss her every day!

    The story of her daughter was used in an Agatha Christie novel. Can you imagine? If you are sick, stay home!!

    The children we have great effect on our lives; their health, their happiness and well being. It is very sad what happened to Gene's child and so unnecessary. Quarantine exists for a reason and the woman that broke quarantine did a very bad thing indeed.

    A movie of Genes life, career and loves should be made it would have it all and in the right hands could be a a great story.

    Gene didn't blame the woman either. "There was nothing I could do that fan. She didn't know what she was doing to me. But how can you forget something like that? It's always with me." Spoken by the lady herself. A class act all the way.

    I have watched this documentary so many times. I still can't believe an adult woman, even in that time, believed nothing devastating would come from escaping quarantine, and coming in contact with another person, with a sickness so very serious.
    That is why celebrity worship is dangerous.
    Stay in peace Gene💚

      germankiwigal - Too bad if you don't like it. Try taking a broader approach. People have many aspects - talent, kindness, conscientiousness, charm, creativity, coordination, balance, grace, nobility, imagination, intelligence, loyalty, power-to-love, spirituality, etc., etc., etc., - and beauty and sex-appeal are two of them. None of these aspects discounts any of the others. Nothing wrong with finding someone beautiful and sexy. We are here looking at her trials and tribulations, her emotions, her talent, etc., we are not here looking at porn. You are the one with a dirty mind and hang ups. Loosen up. Love life in all its multifacetedness. Look outside your ideological box. The species has been perpetuated - up to and including you - by physical attractiveness.

    The Mirror Crack'd....
    with Liz Taylor and Rock Hudson...
    where Liz Taylor's character discovers that
    the person she's speaking to....
    gave Liz's kid the death sentence.
    This is Gene's real life story.
    How cool is THAT to know!!!!

    Oleg Cassini's autocratic way of expressing himself was so repulsive: "I told [her father] 'She's MY wife and she'll do what *I* tell her to do...' " But then, he had a lot of the same arrogance her father had, so I suppose that was a factor in her choice of him as a husband.
    Her life was such a mixture of fabulous success and bitter misfortune.

    Agatha Christie "The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side" ! I didn't know it was a true story. How sad. I remember thinking, while reading the novel, that the actress had every right to kill the stupid selfish woman who ruined her life.

  • @dorosatt
    @dorosatt 15 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Yes -- I've seen Agatha Christie's "The Mirror Crack'd" on TV (with Joan Hickson as Miss Marple), but never realized the plot was based on actual events in Gene Tierney's life. I just looked up the publication date for that particular Christie book -- it was 1962, almost 30 years before Gene Tierney's death, so she must have known about it and she must have been hurt by it. I think it was damned heartless of Agatha Christie to use a tragedy like that for her own purposes.

    Oh, "The Mirror Cracked from Side to Side...Agatha Christie's novel, where the murderer was an actress whose child became physically and mentally ill because someone gave her the mumps or the measles, something like that when she was pregnant. So the actress killed the woman and Mrs. Marple solved the case.

    • @kazior6521
      @kazior6521 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      opelske She died penniless a few years ago from Cancer. Oleg left the majority of his massive estate to his younger widow. He left Christina only a very small amount, which the widow refused to cede to Christina. It was still tied up legally at the time of Christina’s death. Honestly, this lead me to boycott Oleg Cassini products.
