The children we have great effect on our lives; their health, their happiness and well being. It is very sad what happened to Gene's child and so unnecessary. Quarantine exists for a reason and the woman that broke quarantine did a very bad thing indeed.

I still can't believe an adult woman, even in that time, believed nothing devastating would come from escaping quarantine, and coming in contact with another person, with a sickness so very serious. Agatha Christie "The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side" ! I didn't know it was a true story. How sad. I remember thinking, while reading the novel, that the actress had every right to kill the stupid selfish woman who ruined her life.
Yes -- I've seen Agatha Christie's "The Mirror Crack'd" on TV (with Joan Hickson as Miss Marple), but never realized the plot was based on actual events in Gene Tierney's life. I just looked up the publication date for that particular Christie book -- it was 1962, almost 30 years before Gene Tierney's death, so she must have known about it and she must have been hurt by it. I think it was damned heartless of Agatha Christie to use a tragedy like that for her own purposes.
