1. never leave them outside unsupervised 2. not keeping track in their eating habits 3. never leave them alone for too long 4. never leave them without regular health checks 5. never leave them without grooming
@@Philmoscowitz you can treat any animal like you want. But Ragdoll are not regular domestic cat. They are more dependent on human for their emotional needs… just like a dog.
I got two at the pound that were not getting adopted (due to FIV) never heard of this breed before, they are darling. Follows me everywhere, he is like a dog, like a terrier, non stop in my business and knows what I am up to at all times. Likes to play games, too.
I've had two beloved Rag Dolls. The one we have now, we call Cupid Pie. She is so loving and sweet, & has hg even athletic too! She eats wellness pate’ or other foods which include moisture mixed in. She loves company and yes she’d be lost emotionally if left alone a lot. As it is we are here or one of us is here at least most of the time and she has her social bed and food bowl, etc. we would NEVER let her outdoors except in a wire big kennel we got, plus a kitty carriage like a stroller we can wheel her around in! She is timid and our other cat is older with half rag doll genes, and this other one is an alpha cat. We’ve taught them the words, “ Now you girls behave” and then the older cat chooses to leave Cupid ( ❤Cutie Pie) alone and use the other cat bed . Our young Rag Doll is a real honey. Adorable. She loves to jump up on the same chair to be brushed every day! And she loves to play.
My ragdoll sadly passed away earlier this month. His name was Fluff. He was a constant source of love and cuddles. He was actually naturally skinny; I'd never known him to get anywhere above a normal weight. He was a little goofball as well. He liked being on top of things riding on your shoulder, and he was scared of the sound of crinkling plastic. He liked eating soft papers like tissues and toilet paper, so we had to keep those where he couldn't get them. He was my best little buddy and I miss him dearly.
I have two ragdolls, Asshole and Purpose. Asshole is an asshole and Purpose purr when you pick him up and piss when you put him down. My previous ragdoll's name was $2, because I bought her for $2.
I can tell you miss him and I know what that's like as I just lost my 20yr old tuxie. I miss her like crazy too. They certainly work their way into your heart!
My ragdoll’s name is River. He is 8 months old. He’s a good boy who follows me every where and he’s very funny with a great personality. I love him 😍 a lot
My Ragdoll is Adora. She is the sweetest, most talkative cat I ever seen. I’m so in love with her. From the moment I picked her up she has been loved more and more each day.
I have a Ragdoll who is 11 months old. We got him at 10 weeks old. He is totally an indoor boy and doesn’t seem to mind that at all since he has never known anything different. I started when he was a kitten carefully trimming his front nails every week and he doesn’t mind that at all. I brush him every 2 or 3 days (more now that it is summer in Maine and a little warmer) and he seems to love that. He does have a very sensitive stomach and upchucks every few weeks. I think it is a combination of eating too fast and ingesting some hair when he grooms himself. We are totally in love with our boy and getting a Ragdoll was a wonderful choice for us. I highly recommend it!
Also: as yours gets older you’ll need to brush and bathe more often. Somewhere around the five year mark hairballs became more of a problem with mine. I brush daily with various tools and when her fur starts feeling more dry than silky, that’s when I know she needs a bath. She’s 11 now and an absolutely wonderful companion, but goodness that fur becomes a project!
My Ragdoll is Mindy who is 6 years old. She enjoys attention from me and loves to be with me all day. I brush her at least twice a day . When it comes to feeding her; I feed her twice a day. I give her hard food in the morning with her Greenies and soft food in the evening which I make for her. She is a beautiful cat that is very loving.
I have a large male ragdoll 9kg over a meter long. He loves being outdoors. All over the neighbourhood. We got a kitten (another ragdoll female this time) last year after loosing our older cats. He was 5 at the time. After 2 days he assumed the father role and loves his little (growing kitten) a lot.
THANK YOU, you’ve helped me make a decision. I’ve always loved long haired cats but 14yrs ago the only kitten available at the shelter was a tiny short hair tortie. She’s such a character a great companion. She has me trained now, & I understand her tones & body language😻
I have a ragdoll called Gypsy. At the moment she is a nightmare around the house. Found her almost on the ceiling which is a long way up in a victoriana house. She'd climbed up the curtains to the top. I've had to put cling film around shelving to stop her getting any ornaments and cables. Everything in the house belongs to her, sometimes she allows us the use of them. Someone said get a water spray and a quick spirt will stop her, did it heck! She actually loves water and getting wet. She follows me wherever I go and I love her to bits but she's young and still needs to learn a few manners but we'll get there one day, I hope lol 😊😊
Dianne, she might be bored, they're ridiculously intelligent. You could try training her like you would a dog (with treats for doing it right, or trying), to stop her doing things you don't like, or to ask her to do things that are fun. If she doesn't have access to the garden, or even if she does, try training her to wear a harness and take her for short walks round the garden then outside (be aware of dogs, other pets, people who are about in case they or she doesn't react well), there are quite a few good vids on youtube on how to go about this. Raggies are incredibly intelligent and she probably has some specific meows for specific things (yes, no, and i've pooped clean my tray slave are my boys 3 main noises). You can also try dog treat puzzles, playing fetch, cat/dog playmats, etc. My boy knows the names of his treat toys (he has 4), fave soft toys, his beds, vets, my best mates name and his cats, the difference between me saying won't be long (going to the bins or local shop for 10 mins) and bye bye (day in office or long shop). Just be consistent and she'll catch on really quickly - also pay attention to what she does, she's also training YOU!
My 1st and so far only ragdoll I had for 18 years. We were there the moment of his 1st until his very last one. He was the best cat that I ever had! I would get another one in a heartbeat!!!!! If one needs an home in Arizona, I'm your ragdolls mom without hesitation!
My ragdoll is Joon. She is 14 years old and still going strong. I rescued her from a very bad place when she was a baby. I didn't know anything about ragdolls but learned fairly quick that personal space only happens when she decides.
Adopted a rag doll from a friend. He always wanted to escape until I bought a harness and leash. The old owner could not believe he goes on walks with me. He now doesn't try to escape. They are wonderful cats.
We have three Ragdolls. One male and two females, all desexed. They are different colours and patterns. Their ages are five, three and one. They are an amazing breed. Even though every cat has individual traits, they share so many adorable qualities. If you are looking for a cat and are not sure what breed to adopt, spend some time with a Ragdoll. They are hard to resist.
I lost Precious girl last year she was so sweet and adorable she was given to me by my sister in law who passed away in 2014 they are both greatly missed.
My ragdoll walked herself into my house a few years ago and decided it was going to live here. She goes in and out of the house whenever she wants. She loves going out at night then coming back in and jumping on me when I'm sleeping to let me know her majesties food bowl is empty. Before she moved into my house I actually hated cats. Now I love cats.
We had a Ragdoll come to our house. He was lounging on our picnic table in the yard, like he was waiting for me to come home. When I went to the door, he jumped down and tried to come in the door. I fed him outside for a couple of weeks. He was so sweet! He got in a fight one night. I took him to the vet the next day and brought him inside. He was the smartest, funniest cat I had ever seen. Really knew nothing about Ragdolls. I saw a book on cat breeds and realized what he was. He was the most gorgeous cat in the world. He was a rare color. He was a mitted, red lynx. He was white and red. He had green eyes. He got a lung disease. I wailed when we lost him. We were able to have him for a year after he was diagnosed. We lost him 11 years ago, and I still miss him. We have 2 female Ragdolls, now. Daisy is a huge girl. Esme is small. They are our babies. They follow us everywhere and talk all day long.
I have an 8 month old Ragdoll X British Shorthair mix, she takes waaay more after a ragdoll. He's very talkative and loves to cuddle. We never leave her outside un supervised. She escaped a few weeks ago to our neighbors yard and we were so worried she might have gotten out on the streets! Luckily she was in his shed and wasn't hurt. (My neighbor hates cats and trows rocks at them. I hate him.)
i have an 11 month old ragdoll her name is chumpy and my neighbors feel the same way every time i bring her outside with me to play, she CRAVES attention one time i accidentally scared her because when i turned around i screamed because she was behind me and i still feel bad (she is beside me rn)
@@hayatiozlevi2973 There's a screens Infront of the windows and we have a big hedge, so unfortunately it's not possible. I do like to turn my speakers all the way up when he's being annoying 😊
my ragdoll is 20.5 years old. She's wonderful, but yes, is beginning to feel her age. She outlived her buddy cats, and right now I hesitate to bring in any new cat, as I suspect she no longer has that energy to bond with them.
I have male and female siblings they look like Ragamuffin mix, 1 female named Marble and the boys name is Tuffy, aka "The Sherrif". Very much Ragdoll breed. I had no idea they would be so dependant on me, they require a lot of love, and grooming and nail trims. The male is very bossy, and vocal, and the biggest sweetheart too. I'm usually smothered by love from them. 😊
I just got a little Seal Bi color Lynx ragdoll at 15 weeks as a companion for my male Balinese that just lost his litter mate companion and was mourning very bad. He would pace the house and cry all day and night looking for his companion even after 5 months. So we got a kitten for him and she is absolutely the most perfect kitty. She LOVES him and will run up to him and throw her tail over his back and lean into him to say hello. SO CUUUUTTEE! She is so adorable, smart and cuddly. And she’s just a kitten! I can’t wait till she gets bigger and more fluffy (even though she’s SUPER fluffy right now) and loses a bit of her kitten beast mode attitude that keeps her bebopping all around the house lol.. My friends ragdoll is like a giant stuffed animal. He only meows when it’s feeding time or wanting to play.. But the rest of the time you can pick him up and hold him upside down or on his back and he will just sit there purring like a friggin race car engine lol.. As long as its not hurting him or uncomfortable he will let you carry him any way you want and he will just sit there purring! I used to ball him up in my arms, snuggle him and give him little Eskimo kisses and he would LOVE it. I can’t wait till she gets to her full floppiness lol :-)..
@@VivLaQueen Yup, thats exactly what they are :-). Eskimos kiss like that because their lips can get stuck together if they kiss with their mouths lol.. Or at least thats what i was told. My mom was born and grew up in Alaska and i remember her telling us that when we were really young lol :)
My chocolate point Ragdoll is Mouse. I adopted her at 18months old and she's a proper princess 😂 Ragdolls definitely don't understand personal space. She follows me from room to room and loves cuddles. She's the perfect furry companion 🐾
I have a RAGDOLL ,TUCKER he is almost 7 years old. He is the love of my life, the most wonderful kitty….he lives a wonderful life being the king of the house. He is a true ragdoll in every way…he loves to watch the birds from windows and only goes outdoor if he is being held in my arms.Ragdoll cats are a wonderful breed but they do take work in caring for there coat and he loves having me or his other kitty friends near at home. Thank you for your log on ragdoll 🐱
My ragdoll kitten's name is Moxie and she's the sweetest little baby I've ever met! She settled in RIGHT away, like surprisingly fast. Thanks for the info. I've watched so many videos on ragdoll care. I just want to take the absolute best care of my new kitten.
I do own a ragdoll, and I'm getting used to its shredding lol. She's on a strict diet and she significantly lost weight and became energetic and she sleeps lesser now.
I have a seal bicolor Ragdoll named Remi. He is 10 months old and unlike any other cat I have had. A floppy bundle of love! He’s almost like a dog in many ways. He follows me around everywhere…he doesn’t want to be in a room where I am not. He is always present when we have visitors as well as wanting to be in the middle of large gatherings. When UPS, the post, or any other deliveries come to the house, he races to the window, stands up on his hind legs to see who it is. He’s very curious and he makes us laugh everyday. He is the perfect house guest with better manners than some humans 😂. He is quiet and doesn’t meow unless he needs something or wants to show me something. Remi is a fantastic hunter…and catches flies mid air. He’s especially keen on keeping any spiders at bay..I think he knows how afraid I am of them! He can “give five”, sit and jump on command and he’s just learned how to fall over when we say “bang.” A phenomenal breed that craves human companionship and shouldn’t be left for long periods of time alone. Anyone else experienced the same attributes?
Ramble away, I’m exactly the same, my Bertie is all I talk about.. They are such a precious breed of cat, Bertie is like a dog, cat and human all in one..
Yes totally reminds me of my cat I had as a kid. I was totally obsessed with her.. the following and knowing how to open doors.. when the doorbell would ring running to the door.. Etc best breed..
I have 2 beautiful, 18 yr old dollies. They are doing very well except both have arthritis in the rear joints. We just finished a 6 week course of cold laser therapy and will now go every other week. Our vet was their baby doc and only services felines. She recently brought a Certified Cat Groomer on board so we are on a maintenance plan getting baths, blow outs and trims every 6-8 weeks. They are extremely loving, crave attention, trained to do many things such as fetch and have been extremely happy since the Pandemic because I now work from home. When I leave just to go to the store they usually get very upset!
My ragdoll is Liza she is so in my face, and gets bored easily, but such a character. She's 6 years old and until a year ago I had a colour point persian. Had to have him put down at 15 and a half. She pinned and didn't eat for 2 weeks. I had to buy special food so she would eat. I also bath her sometimes.
Sounds like I'm doing everything right with my Ragdoll kitty ( Mateo ). I actually brush him twice a day. When I first adopted him, he had a lot of knots in his coat. Guess the previous owners didn't comb him properly. But I managed to have the knots removed and since I started brushing him every day, he hasn't had a single knot in the past eight years.
I just got my ragdoll ❤️ he’s 15 months old and didn’t have a good home. Absolutely the wrong people. They kept him alone in a room 😥😥 they didn’t want any hair anywhere or him around their feet. I’m now slowly building him up again with love and closeness. I’m being very careful but see positive signs every day ❤️ I love him so much❤️ one of my grandkids named him Olle 🫣😂😂 it was either that or Adrian 😜🤪😁😄😃😂😂 4:55
Our Ragdoll, Bad Boy, was abandoned in the Northern Minnesota woods. He was chased by dogs, fell out of a tree, and lost one kidney as a result. He’s 17 now and we can’t imagine life without him because he’s such a large personality. He had been declawed and neutered by his former owners, whoever they were. I think he wishes he were our only cat but he’s not. ❤
For those TLDW: 1. Never leave alone unsupervised. 2. Not keeping track of their eating habits. 3. Never leave them alone for too long. 4. Never leave them without health checks. 5. Never leave them without grooming.
My first ragdoll (blue bi-colour in the profile pic) was adopted from a shelter at the age of 2 or 3, although the shelter pages had his age at 5. I had never heard of a Ragdoll before, but I love large cats. He wasn't a lap cat at all and wasn't keen on being picked up (unless he was lying on his side and I scooped him up with a hand under his shoulders and one under his hips, only then would he not put up a struggle). He was my faithful companion for 12 years, going on walks with me (he wouldn't allow a harness) most days... I had to keep a close eye on him on our walks around the large yard because the minute I stopped to talk to a neighbor, he would wander out of sight. The best cat ever and his death about devastated me. After about 6 weeks I needed a cat fix and decided to go visit the cats in the shelter just to say hi and get in some pets and the second cat I saw was a 5 year old ragdoll (seal bicolour mid high white) that had been surrendered by his owner, once I saw him I was going home with a cat. I've now only had him a couple of days, but I am realizing that there are certain Ragdoll traits that they both share that I didn't realize were Ragdoll things.
I adopted a kitten that I'm 99% positive is a lilac lynx point ragdoll. His body limps when picked up and every kitten I've looked at for reference to find out what he is, he fits that description perfectly. I know he has separation anxiety or at least abandonment issues, as soon as he can't see you or you walk out of a room he starts to meow for you. One time he had turned away from me to chase a toy, stopped, meowed, and when I said "Bud, I'm right here" he turned around fast and started to purr. He'll do this adorable trill when he's in mid-pounce and he'll make these little grunting noises when playing. He's maybe 2 months, I'm starting to harness train him and trying to find a high protein/low or non-existent carb treat for him so I can start trying to clicker train him like I have with my tuxedo cat. He unfortunately thinks all treats are toys lol, and will bat them around. Any recommendations on treats are high appreciated. My tuxedo loves freeze dried raw Ahi Tuna as his high value treat and I've been trying to get this little guy to eat the same, maybe the freeze dried raw salmon or chicken, but no go so far.
My Ragdoll tends to be underweight not overweight. She is a riduculous picky eater. She hates being brushed or combed. Since my mom passed away, she is alone all day. Luckily she has Dusty, my other cat to harass.
My girl, Babys, chocolate lynx point, 1 litter of 2 on purpose, never got sick once in 18 yrs. Was outside all the yr except winter. Slept in our basement and greeted me at the top of the stairs every morning. She was my best friend. She got fat free feeding dry food. When she was 12, I started making part raw, part cooked catfood for her. She thrived and lost all the weight. We JUST had to put her down as she got diabetes in her 2nd to last yr. From old age. She learned so many words and commands! People used to get big eyes and tell me, "wow! Most people's DOGS aren't trained as well" 😂 She'd sit on my lap, turn her back to me and fall in place, in the crook of my left arm and chest. Then She'd look up and touch my face with her paw. 😢 gosh I miss her!
I have a Ragamuffin named "Ollie." He is the best cat ever. Every morning he comes up to me and climbs on my tummy, then purrs and gives me kisses. This is my first cat. Ollie doesn't meow. Rather, he mumbles his little cat talk.
My Mila (meelah) is a rescue that we absolutely adore her. She is a very sweet cat and I speak to her in French. She knows the language. Combing is a big deal… daily. Special foods without grains. Lots of water. She is a “sink tap drinker.” We leave a tap on very slow drip. She is our joy. She also SPEAKS to you. Enjoy friends. They are such a treasure.
Just adopted two ragdolls, six years old. The male has more personality than some people, he’s hilarious. The female is more timid but so sweet and so soft!
Ragdolls are amazing cats BUT they are EXTREMELY needy. This video is accurate. Our boy HATES to be without company and will follow us around everywhere in the house, talk constantly and yes, your privacy will cease to exist. We love him alot though. Ragdolls require ALOT of attention but are very good natured and an absolutely gorgeous breed.
My Ragdoll is a bit sad and frustrated I’m gone so long on my working days. When i work frome home he’s talking a lot, but he doesn’t really like petting. He wants to play all the time. He doesn’t let me work. I wish I could give him more attention, and I feel a bit bad that i got him :/
Our ragdoll is the exact opposite. He wants his own bedroom and doesn't appreciate being molly coddled by humans or our other 3 cats. If he tolerates a brief stroke he def won't repay you with the acknowledgement of eye contact.
We now have Floyd, our fourth Ragdoll, one year old. Playful and very cute. Before him we had Alma and Floris, half siblings. In februari Floris got fip. He was 12,5. We had to put him down. Alma(14) stopped eating and was constantly hiding in the closet. There was nothing we could do to make her start eating again. She became so weak we had to let her go too. Only two and a half weeks after her halfbrother. It was devasting to watch and go through. Although we are very happy with Floyd now, the grief is sometimes overwhelming. 💔
I’m so sorry for your loss 😢 Is there any treatment for FIP? I thought there was, but I have no idea about the costs. I think it’s extremely expensive 🥺
I have a boy and girl. Both 13 years old. Had to put the boy on a diet. He was up to 22 pounds and is now at 17. He was very grumpy when he was dieting. I feed them separately now. The girl never had an overeating issue. Yes, brushing is essential. They get brushed every other day. Great companions. Always in the same room with me except during the afternoons when they are asleep on my bed. They are not lap cats, though. They enjoy getting petted but not in my lap. Wonderful cats and. Both have their own unique personalities.
I have a ragdoll and she is a delight, always affectionate and lovable, great for families. I do highly recommend giving your ragdoll a sanitary trim, as they will get messy when they use the litterbox otherwise; maybe that's not all ragdolls, but it seems like it would be common to me given the long loose fur on their butts.
Never walk around without looking down for I had many close calls where I could have stepped on one of my babies(I have 2 sisters, Sasha and Porscha) and never leave them around your shoes. I would not trade them in for any other breed around
I owned a neutered male Ragdoll cat who lived twenty years as an indoor outdoor cat. He ate cheap food like Purina Meow Mix and only saw a vet a few times in his life. They are not as delicate and fragile as portrayed.
My 10 month ball of fluff seal point Ragdoll is Bertie, he is such a fussy eater, he doesn’t eat much wet food he prefers his expensive biscuits. He just grazes on his biscuits throughout the day and night, and has his water fountain because he would only drink from a tap before getting him this.. He is so funny, and only really sleeps on his back. I’ve had to hide his dreamies (I call them his crack) because he found them and ripped open the packet and ate the lot. He loves to play boo, and I swear he says boo when he jumps out at me, well he makes a noise so it’s basically boo 😂 He plays fetch and likes to play football.. He will give me a kiss if I ask for one when he’s being loving especially in the morning. He’s so cheeky, I just love him so much. If you have a Ragdoll then you are very lucky indeed..
I’m currently in the middle of toilet training him which is going well, no more litter trays 🙌🏽 he sometimes rebels when he’s been told off and will go in the bath, but that’s his just being a little cheeky sod..
We recently got 2 ragdolls from a breeder who could no longer care for them due to many issues. They were kept in 100+ degree cages and poorly fed. We took them to the vet and they were rated as 2 on the 1-10 scale of malnutrition, with sores and infections. we have not yet seen their true personality as they are still in survival mode. we keep them in a room with many soft places to sleep, a constant human (quiet one) and hiding places when they feel the need. They are progressing slowly.
We love our Ragdoll. She’s very playful and goofy and loves to follow us everywhere. She also loves to go outside and begs to go out. She’s very smart and learned to fetch and teach us to play with her but we have to supervise her outside all the time cause she has no street smarts at all. She also has a sister tabby cat the same age and they are true sisters. We also have a kitty sitter come in to play and keep them company and they’re both right there when we come from a vacation. She loves her people and especially her daddy ❤ and I know she would be very unhappy if she were to be left alone for some length of time. She really has a different but just as endearing purrsonality from our tabby cat. I have never owned a purebred kitty before but I would totally invite an😂other Ragdoll into my life.
I had my beautiful baby blue eyed boy for 14 years. He was sooooo sweet and soft smart, I miss him terribly 😢 if I get another cat it will definitely be a ragdoll
I just adopted a ragdoll named Blue, after recently losing my polydactyl Ginger named Nico whom I had for 10 of his 19 years. . .Blue is slowly adjusting to his new surroundings. He slept with me for awhile last night and brought a smile to my face when he slept using my hand as his pillow (Nico always slept like that). He was here a full day before we actually heard his voice and now he talks to me when I come home from work at night. . .his range vocalizations are quite interesting (from a soft whisper to a full blown loud chatterbox) I am glad that I found him
I got a ragdoll-2 actually. I regret it so much. I don’t like them. Well, one is nice, but the other one just breaks everything in the house-unimaginable destruction. I try to like them, but I love only dogs. Yes, I know-find them a home where the owner doesn’t get depressed 20 times a day because of them. Any takers?
My ragdoll kitten is nearly 6 months old & going to get spayed on 30 th January , not looking forward to that , I have 2 8 year old neutered cats & they all seem to get along well tho sometimes they can't be bothered with her as all she wants to do is play , love all my kitties to bits 💞
My ragdoll kitty Lila is snuggled up next to me as we speak. My mom and I adopted her in January of last year when she was 2 1/2 years old. She’s now four years old and a happy healthy, loving little girl. 5:01
Cleo (short for "Cleocatra") is six years old. She always comes to me when I come into the house. A few years ago, I had open heart surgery. When I came home, she would not leave my side and she somehow knew that she could not climb on my chest. She would curl up and rest her head on my neck. She knew I needed some TLC and she was not only my nursemaid but my loving companion. She treats her little sister cat ("Cannoli") with love, too.
I was given a ragdoll, her name was Danika when given to us and we kept the name. She will be 2 in February. I was wondering if anyone else had a Ragdoll that asks for pets and then bites you. When she rubs her face on me I pet her head or the side of her face and she bites me, sometimes it's really hard other times I barely feel it. I don't understand why she does this. I'm not petting her belly or being aggressive with her when this happens. I've woken up in the middle of the night because she's biting my feet.
Pretend you’re a mommy cat trying to train her. Whenever s/he bites you growl like a mommy cat would and move away. Or if s/he is trying to eat your food while you’re trying to eat it. Don’t reinforce the behaviour by letting her continue on. In other words, disengage if they keep trying. Hissing like a cat can also work, but moreso with aggressive or dangerous behaviours eg doing something unsafe like the cat trying to go outside or beat up another cat.
I have 2 Ragdoll cats. This year I have found I had to shave the one because she got so matted. Life got in the way of grooming her. But she is okay. Their names are Harmonia (Monie) and Peggy Sue
My Raggie is a 3 yr old chocolate point male.. His name is Tex, however he does identify as a human..😜 Seriously, He is my every day companion makes me laugh and acts exactly like a dog does nose tricks walks on a harness takes stroller rides etc. etc. I am hopefully going to bring another ragdoll to our home as I’m going to be working again soon outside of home and don’t want him to be alone😣❤️ Hopefully waiting for a Blue mink mitted boy, but health clearances are #1!
My ragdoll was born on mother's day 2022,his name is tubby cause out of three kittens he was the biggest. He is adorable and loving but can be a mistjif big time
Hi. My rag doll is 1.5 years old. Weight is 12.8 pounds. Sheds a lot. Is eating alcana dried food, indoor cat food, chicken, turkey, ish but it smells very fishy. He is constantly hungry and tries to eat the other cats food! Try to give him weight loss weight food to. He looks like a butterball turkey. Not sure how often to feed him dried food. I give him 1/4 cup am and pm and 1/2 can weight food per day. Thanks for your help!
Both my ragdoll cats only lived to 5 because of interbreeding! Their fathers were also their Grandfathers. Breeders have no laws, and interbreed for certain looks. Despicable! I got two needy cats that weren't pure bred after those two died of heart cardiomyopathy, and both lived to almost 20. Never again will I get a so called 'pure breed' anything. They suffered terribly before dying!
My ragdoll Myla lived for over 19yrs old and didn't realize that's pushing it for ragdolls. Didn't realize the breed of my cat until she passed away already. She got out several times but was able to be brought back in as she couldn't handle living outside of the house. Very talkative and survived longer than my other lambkin cat. Might had been able to live longer but she was senile at the end and broke her leg. She lived a great life.
@@VivLaQueen If SHE wasn't injured, Myla could had gone for another year but I couldn't ask her of that after realizing that she's too old already, so she was all high on catnip till the very end. Still miss her especially since she was there when i was recovering from my chemo.
My Ragdoll is a drama queen! She will meow if she's left alone for 5 seconds. she sleeps sometimes during the day and she will be normal sometimes but then she goes crazy mode. especially first thing in the morning or late at night she for some reason plays in her water bowel from time to time and quite like cuddles and pats. she doesnt mind new people once she gets used to their scent. she LOVES to play as Well and is very good at cleaning. but weirdly enjoys bathing.
0:56 is not gonna be able defend by herself? I walk with mine with a leash. We have a one neighbour cat who thought that area around my hause is hes terittory (we got no fence or something). They've meet a few times during my walks with my bby. I think it was around 4th time they've saw eachother (till then every single time was very loud on the side of the other cat) and i wanted to go back home with my cat. The other cat hidden himself in the bushes under my cat kingdom which is terrace. I only saw her jumping in the darkness of the bushes, wild scream like the last from dying from another cat and he never came back when we go for a walk like he used to.
My Ragdoll, Coffee, is an 11 month old neutered boy, and he's beautiful...but he's not showing many traditional ragdoll traits. He follows us everywhere, but he doesn't like being picked up and certainly doesn't go floppy. He is friendly, but rarely wants to be patted, often ducking and moving away. We love him, but we'd hoped he'd be more cuddly...you know?
Our boy is exactly the same (almost 2 years old) Follows us EVERYWHERE and I can't even have a bath without him keeping me company. LOL! He, too, doesn't really like to be cuddled or picked up unless it is on his terms. Only my son can pick him up like a baby where he will go limp like a ragdoll in his arms but not with me or my husband. But like you, we absolutely love him. He is very smart and has a super comical personality. He certainly runs the house though. Does yours keep you up for hours in the middle of the night? Our guy does. Wants you to be awake with him at 3 am!! Good thing my husband and I are retired. 😅😅
@@susanrebizant4567 Oh, it's so good to know we're not the only people with a more aloof Ragdoll. Your cat sounds just like ours... Coffee wakes us up with very loud meowing, often at 3am. He even goes into the ensuite, which acts like a megaphone, and raises his voice to a whole new level. Fortunately we too are retired and can sleep later. He likes his food, but nothing fish or seafood, which is weird for a cat. He loves my husbands feet, he'll just lie on them for hours, and hates fireworks and loud noises on the verandah. I can't believe how quickly he has grown to be a beautiful big fluffy boy! Does your boy prefer one or the other of you or are you both equally adored?
My sweet Ragdoll, Kinsey Marie, is almost 4 and a delight to me...beautiful but doesn't like to snuggle or be picked up. She is the ideal cat for an old lady (81) such as me. She sleeps with me at night on the bed and doesn't wake me up. She gets up when I get up and we sort of snuggle as she likes to be close to me all day. Up until this season she would get matted and would hate it if I brushed her or if I took her anywhere to be groomed. Last year, at my wits end, I took her to be sedated while being groomed. This year, wonder of wonders, she has learned to groom herself so well that she no longer gets matts. Best "trick" ever! Even without that I love her more and more each day. She is showing more affection the older she gets. I'd say that if your Raggie is aloof, just wait awhile and don't force yourself on her and even if it's slow you both will come to an understanding that you both will like.
@@carolevanlandingham8529 Thank you for your advice Carole. Coffee has actually mellowed a bit in the last few months. He's much more happy to have a pat and he is so funny sometimes. We love him so much! I'm glad you have a wonderful cat too! We bought a special grooming tool, like The Furminator but Australian made. It has been the best thing for Coffee's fur and helps keep it shorter in Summer, which is really great, and he no longer gets mats. Love and blessings to you!!
My Ragdoll's name is Missy Moo she is very fluffy and very stinky she leaves hair everywhere and likes to bite me. She has a big tail and likes to eat chicken. she once went outside, she nearly didn't come back. My Missy Moo sometimes sleeps with me but she hasn't been because she wakes me up really early, and her breath is a bit stinky. I could not wish for a better Missy Moo.
I own two Ragdoll kittens, just got them last week, there both boys, one is white and one is grey, the grey one is named Jack, and the white one is named Ace. there named those because my mom one the lottery of 3k dollars playing cards with the cards named Ace and Jack, that's how they got there names. My mother got the kittens from a backyard breeder, the lady gave the kittens to us for 1,300 dollars for one of them, so all together was 2,600 dollars, the lady was really sweet, my mother told me this story, I wasn't there because it was a surprise. My mom said the lady who was selling kittens had 2 percians and 3 ragdolls I think. and the lady had an 11 year old daughter, after I got the kittens I found out a lot of people in the internet was saying avoid backyard breeders, because they would give out sick cats or it's just bad for people to do that. I was really scared, the kittens went to the vet yesterday to get a check up and there first shots, the vet doctor said the kittens were healthy, the Grey kitten, Jack had a little bit of ear wax, but they said its nothing to worry about. And they gave us medicated for the kittens so it prevents the kittens from getting fleas, and Heart worms. Im going to the vet in a few weeks, so they can check if the kittens have any worms in them. My kittens are very happy and they got used to are house very fast, they play together all the time. There really happy here, for there age, there about 2 months old, they sleep in the bathroom for now with food water and a bed and a litter box till there older, we do this so they don't roam around the house at night and get into trouble while were sleeping. the kittens were pretty cheap only because we didn't get a birth paper, but it okay, I think it useless anyways because my mom said my dog Lily, on her birth paper, it said she was suppost to be a Tea-Cup chihuahua, but when she got older, she wasn't a Tea-Cup chihuahua. so I think birth papers don't have a point besides vets asking for them, but all they want is the birth date of the kittens, and they were born on April 9th, (I think, i can double check). other then that, my kittens are very happy and healthy, Im taking well care of them, there very sweet and playful. :)
My kitty is named milo, milo is one of a kind. He’s like a grandfather trapped in a rag dolls body. He is very playful and very talkative. #TeamRagdollMomandDad
Mine is a rescued kitten now about 13 years old. Her mother was a short haired tortie mostly black who was dumped near my friend's home in Mullan, ID, while.pregnant. She was only survivor kitten. She is a long-haired, blue eyed, beige with tortie points. She the sweet heart of my life since my Persians passed away. But she has an independent streak. Very smart but likes to sleep with me at night. Only other cat besides her mother that was acceptable to her was a long haired black male who hung like a ragdoll when picked up. Unfortunately, he had to be put down at 3 years of age due to urinary tract infection. He was also a delight with gorgeous emerald green eyes. Another rescue! Our other 2 current cats are shorthaired ginger neutered males which Rahnee detests. They are not allowed outside. Rahnee is definitely biased to ragdoll cats or maybe it is the color black?
Dinah is a very grumpy ragdoll but she was mistreated by previous owners so explains that perhaps. Since living with me she has become a much sweeter cat. She loves following me around everywhere in the house.
Best cats ive ever had and ive had many cats in my life. They are smart and sweet and follow me if i go get a soda in the kitchen they come with me. They never go alone like regular cats..one of my cats loves going in the stroller even in the house. She jumps out to drink at the sink then jumps back in and meows lets go! They are funny a lot of fun and also purry lap cats. Our male cat bonded with my daughter and our female older cat bonded with me and my mother. ❤
I have mother & daughter Ragdoll plus 2 Siamese cats. They all get along. The siamese are spade. Mom I had neutered. The daughter, I'm planning on at least 1 litter. 1 of the boys always acts like uncle & helps with the kittens
we've had our Rag Doll for 11 years. We are frequently gone for 5 to 8 hours and he always wants attention when we get home. He seems happy to see us, but after a short time rubbing against us, he is off to his place somewhere in the house. He sometimes is more like a dog than a cat because he follows us room to room. He loves to hop on my GF's chest and put his paws around her neck and nuzzle into her neck. I've never seen a cat do that! Rag Dolls are such a wonderful loving cat.
I wanted to ask...my ragdoll male is 1.5 year old and his weight started to drop...he is now the same weight as 5 months back 3.9kg max he had was 4.2... do you think its normal as he is growing or could that mean that he hassome kind of disease? He is eating but not that much he loves snacks tho. On the other hand female is 3 months younger and she is 5kg now...and she is always eating, what do i do with her, it seems like she can never have enough...and yes she got fat in last month or 2.
my major question is how long is too long? I'm considering adopting a ragdoll but I work 8 hours a day. it will be our only cat I we don't have kids. is maximum 8 hours 4-5 times a week too long to be left alone?
2:58 is literally my Winter 💙❤️ so sweet love my cat but she does just fine when we leave her alone the odd days for 8hrs when we come she just kinda acts out for attention and then she’s back* to all snuggles.
Mine is Sammy he is 11 months will be a year on the 28th, and is growing into those paws 🐾 of his, he is a treat and great company especially to my older cat Bella.
My male blue point ragdoll is 5months old and is called bodhi. He has settled in our home so well. Very loving and followings us everywhere. Loves climbing. Hello from Scotland. Tx
I had a ragdoll about 10 years ago. I had to go into the hospital and was there for about a month. My mum stayed with him but he was so mad at my he pooped on my bed as soon as I came home.
1. never leave them outside unsupervised
2. not keeping track in their eating habits
3. never leave them alone for too long
4. never leave them without regular health checks
5. never leave them without grooming
Is 5 hours too long?
@@milostolj7004 No. You can leave them alone while at work. They may be a little wild when you first get home but they will be fine.
@@milostolj7004 yes. I took a remote job, because they cry when I leave home and get depress.
This is BS. You can treat them like other domesticated cats.
@@Philmoscowitz you can treat any animal like you want. But Ragdoll are not regular domestic cat. They are more dependent on human for their emotional needs… just like a dog.
I just got a rag doll. I can’t tell you how much I love it. It follows me everywhere, and is such a joy to have around. Super recommend.
100%❤❤❤
I got two at the pound that were not getting adopted (due to FIV) never heard of this breed before, they are darling. Follows me everywhere, he is like a dog, like a terrier, non stop in my business and knows what I am up to at all times. Likes to play games, too.
sounds just like mine@@bunjijumper5345
Special bed…not “ social” bed!
@@jhoxihum3230 whoa doesn't sound like you appreciate them. They're probably just trying to live up to their names!
I can tell you miss him and I know what that's like as I just lost my 20yr old tuxie. I miss her like crazy too. They certainly work their way into your heart!
@@jhoxihum3230 good names haha😂😂😂
Mine lives the sound of plastic and I catch him licking it all the time lol
My ragdoll’s name is River. He is 8 months old. He’s a good boy who follows me every where and he’s very funny with a great personality. I love him 😍 a lot
I love vigorously and like to squeeze. I hear the ragdoll is passive so it may be perfect for me.
@@kzgntosbaga6255 same, adorable
My girl is about 12 weeks now. Growing like a weed. She is so playful and happy. Perhaps the best thing to come into my life. Truly a gift
Get a bowl that's raised and tilted , stops them vomiting
@@petadeboer6608that, or get them real food they can eat. theyre obligate carnivores, all the wheat gluten and soy and corn meal is crap for cats.
Mine would overeat and throw up, too. Not a food problem; it’s high quality stuff. I just need to feed her in small doses at a time.
🤣🤣🤣. All over the neighborhood?
P
My girl Sophia is 4 mo old I've had her for a couple of wks. She has to be with me every moment. Sleeps right next to my head at nite
My 1st and so far only ragdoll I had for 18 years. We were there the moment of his 1st until his very last one. He was the best cat that I ever had! I would get another one in a heartbeat!!!!! If one needs an home in Arizona, I'm your ragdolls mom without hesitation!
Wow!! 18 yrs! You are lucky, I pray my boy lives that long!
My ragdoll is Joon. She is 14 years old and still going strong. I rescued her from a very bad place when she was a baby. I didn't know anything about ragdolls but learned fairly quick that personal space only happens when she decides.
Thank you for saving!!!
I have 3 cats, could not have any other breed.
I just adopted an 18 year old ragdoll from a horrible situation.
❤so cute story❤
Mine walks on me just to let me know she is going to eat like fine if it's empty. But every night she does it. Stinker
They are the most fabulous animals....no they shead year round
I have an 8 month old Ragdoll X British Shorthair mix, she takes waaay more after a ragdoll. He's very talkative and loves to cuddle. We never leave her outside un supervised. She escaped a few weeks ago to our neighbors yard and we were so worried she might have gotten out on the streets! Luckily she was in his shed and wasn't hurt. (My neighbor hates cats and trows rocks at them. I hate him.)
Bad neighbor!
The neighbours need bricks throw at them and hose pipe them as well.
i have an 11 month old ragdoll her name is chumpy and my neighbors feel the same way every time i bring her outside with me to play, she CRAVES attention one time i accidentally scared her because when i turned around i screamed because she was behind me and i still feel bad (she is beside me rn)
Why you are not trowing rocks back to your neighbor when he or she trows at cats?
@@hayatiozlevi2973 There's a screens Infront of the windows and we have a big hedge, so unfortunately it's not possible. I do like to turn my speakers all the way up when he's being annoying 😊
We have a rag doll, too and it’s an angel. Thank you for the information! Our rag doll has a lot of people to love around here.😂
my ragdoll is 20.5 years old. She's wonderful, but yes, is beginning to feel her age. She outlived her buddy cats, and right now I hesitate to bring in any new cat, as I suspect she no longer has that energy to bond with them.
No don’t bring a new cat in on your old cat
What are Eskimo kisses? Rubbing noses? 🥰
I adopted her at 18months old and she's a proper princess 😂
Ragdolls definitely don't understand personal space. She follows me from room to room and loves cuddles.
She's the perfect furry companion 🐾
Our Ragdoll needed a new forever home so she came to us and has settled in very well with our Black Labrador Dog.
We had a tuxedo cat that loved to play in the rain. She was an excellent hunter and outlived all her siblings.
I have 3 ragdolls...Chico Chester and Tilly...absolutely beautiful breed and so comical ❤️
I do own a ragdoll, and I'm getting used to its shredding lol. She's on a strict diet and she significantly lost weight and became energetic and she sleeps lesser now.
Yes mine ragdoll sheds but it’s in little bits so it’s easy to pick up.
Omgosh..sorry for my rambling..I’m just so taken with this breed

I have 2 beautiful, 18 yr old dollies. They are doing very well except both have arthritis in the rear joints. We just finished a 6 week course of cold laser therapy and will now go every other week. Our vet was their baby doc and only services felines. She recently brought a Certified Cat Groomer on board so we are on a maintenance plan getting baths, blow outs and trims every 6-8 weeks. They are extremely loving, crave attention, trained to do many things such as fetch and have been extremely happy since the Pandemic because I now work from home. When I leave just to go to the store they usually get very upset!
My Ragdoll is called Ringo, 9 months old. He’s very sweet, cuddly and silly. ❤
For those TLDW:
I've now only had him a couple of days, but I am realizing that there are certain Ragdoll traits that they both share that I didn't realize were Ragdoll things.
who would leave a rag in a shelter? They are quite expensive
My ragdoll cat is called Pearl and sometimes she jumps of stuff and does not always land on her feet.she can barley jump up to anything aswell
Same here with our Floyd. Misses almost every time. He can’t keep his eyes still. Seems something neurolgical…
@@VivLaQueen Sounds like a trip to the vet could be good? 😅
My Ragdoll kittens name is charm she’s a beautiful natured cat that loves lots of affection and she follows me everywhere to love her to bits
We have a mila too
Just adopted two ragdolls, six years old.
I got a twin stroller for MrGoodboy and Minihaha. They get to go for walks while protected. And they get so much attention.
I have two ragdoll kittens, they’re very affectionate and sweet
I am so sorry for your loss!!! We just lost our Bengal to old age (16+) What a broken heart!
Just put down my beautiful ragdoll with FIP. She was only a year and a half old.
Great vid can you please tell me what the music in yhe background is please 🥰
I have 2 Ragdolls. brother and sister. They are incredible sweet and follow me through the house. I love them to bits. Simone
My ragdoll Majsan is 16 year.😻
She follow me every where and I love her so. 😻❣😻❣😻❣😻
She is a shelter cat and I have had her since she was 12 v old.
Sooo sad 😔
You didn't have a reputable breeder then. A reputable breeder would not choose a dame and sire that could potentially compromise genetics.
That is extremely old for a Ragdoll. You must be missing him a lot. 😢
@@VivLaQueen If SHE wasn't injured, Myla could had gone for another year but I couldn't ask her of that after realizing that she's too old already, so she was all high on catnip till the very end. Still miss her especially since she was there when i was recovering from my chemo.
It's a non native species doh. Of course should not live outside.Never should........
My
Ragdoll is a drama queen!
Mine is such a big baby. He sleeps whoever we are and usually on his back. He is so patient with our grandbabies.
Thank you for your tips. It's very helpful thanks 😺
I have cat like almost ragdoll this type of cat 🐈. Is it possible to my own cat 🐈 type ragdoll. All behaviors and hair length %100 ragdoll.
Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the video, my ragdoll 's name is NEKO he is 10 months, he is so sweet - best cat I've ever had ❤
My Princess Raggie. Her name is Angel. Honestly, I should have named here Velcro!
PLEASE REPLY is 6-7 hours without attention too long? Ive heard they mostly sleep when alone but im planing on getting a ragdoll and need to know
That’s okay but I’ll advise getting someone to check on them within those hours.
#TeamRagdollMomandDad
my ragdolls name was milo got ran over and died.
Ah thanks for the dying mouse part that was really lovely. Cat's will be cats (!)

I’d advise you take him to a vet for a thorough examination.
@@thecagdot ☹️ thank you for your advise 👍. I hope its nothing serious 😬
my major question is how long is too long? I'm considering adopting a ragdoll but I work 8 hours a day. it will be our only cat I we don't have kids. is maximum 8 hours 4-5 times a week too long to be left alone?
No, as long as you provide them with enough attention and care once you get back.
@@thecagdot Thank you so much 😊
At what age do they start to ride the iRobot? My kitten is scared of mine.
Tx
Hello Scotland Texas this is Derek from Florence Oregon got me a ragdoll female kitten came out of manCoon
Love this video thank you
I had a ragdoll about 10 years ago. I had to go into the hospital and was there for about a month. My mum stayed with him but he was so mad at my he pooped on my bed as soon as I came home.
