I’ve met people who lived near big poultry farms and had problems with smell and flies but I bet if you were to live next to this farm you wouldn’t smell anything or see any extra flies at your home
@@midgekelly6697Yeah it’s terrible. The flies and the smells are sickening. My grandma doesn’t have as many as a poultry farm but she has pretty many chickens, ducks, and turkeys that are free to roam the farm all day long (chickens and turkeys get put away at night because of foxes) and they don’t smell anywhere near as badly as the poultry farm I live beside. Not to mention she doesn’t have the number of flies we have
I gotta say, every single one of those chickens looks absolutely amazing...... they all have a gorgeous color, full feathers and obviously they like to talk 🤣
And they look and sound SO HAPPY! I love what you're doing, wish I could get all my eggs from your happy little brood there... this is the kind of care and respect we should have for ALL our farm animals!
We did the same on our farm! We had great success 1x a day feeding but also supplementing with an active compost pile they were able to scratch and turn for me. I loved it!

Thank 😊 you for that!.. I was feeling down and really struggling mentally, 😪. But seeing you with the chickens 🐔 ❤️ made me smile, that looks,so much fun!!.. thank you for making me smile!!.. your friend Michael
Well they still get slaughtered once they no longer lay eggs... Also they probably come from a hatcherie where all the male chicks get sorted out and are ground up alive...

Super impressed with your setup, every aspect is ideal.I just wish our local mills didn’t close and give way to “Co op Feed”.We used to have the advantage of feeding local grown/produced Rooster Mixes custom tailored to the farmer’s wishes.Individuals could buy a basic Rooster Mix,or you could mix your own buying everything individually bagged. Those were the good ol’ days…and that was as late as 99’
I love it its how my friends feeds her backyard chickens it also keeps them mentally busy to find the food etc she used to have feeders but noticed the chickens starting to fight each other so she started this method and it helped lots they were more busy during the day and didnt concentrate on each other so much
Wowowowow! This is amazing. Im following and learning even though I don't raise any animals, this is very educational. All the best to your and your daughter!🥰
It’s funny how I immediately thought of my sons hamster when you explained this. Instead of a typical food dish I put her food in a broken dried gourd and a little bird nest house with a variety of material she gets foraging enrichment from. Obviously not as important or large scale as your beautiful farm, but it keeps her happy and healthy!
Thank You For This Information 💚💚💚💚I Look Forward To Having Chickens Also...I Will Use Your Information To BE Successful In This Process...ALL Divine Doors Will Open...Your Chickens ARE Beautiful 💚💚💚💚
My grandparents gave their chickens table scraps and let them forage. They only started using commercial food after the six children moved out. Their stories! I wish I’d asked more questions and listened more intently.
So good thanks for all the tips we are allowed 8 hens in our country on a property I’m in Auckland New Zealand I am buying a bigger property and would like to start raising my 8 hens 😊
when we first started with chickens, we had about 40 hens They were free range we tried the best food money could buy but ultimately what they really loved was a cheap food we got from walmart
My mother does similar with her chickens, she gives them a certain amount of feed to supplement what they might not get enough of for egg production. The rest of their nutrition comes from things that grow and live in the pastures, what they'd naturally eat if they were roaming fully wild. Bugs, berries, clover, etc. The yolks of the eggs they lay are orange, unlike the pale yellow of store bought eggs, and the whites of the egg are thick, unlike the runny store bought ones. Ever since I started eating farm fresh eggs, store bought just taste watered down, and honestly a bit gross since store bought eggs have a bit of a rubbery texture when cooked compared to fresh ones
Yes and i totally get that and you you are nice about it but you let people know. Thank you dylan i'm thankful i know you so just knowing using up you make me smile and that's the truth thank you dylan so much God bless NBA careful driving because the weather is supposed to have a little scattered rain or something i just hate it when the roads get slick now i tell everybody be careful please i'm fixing to go to bed night night
She is the exact opposite of Tyson and any big poultry farms. Holy crap what a neighbor to have. Id exclusively buy from her.
If we followed this example, we wouldn't need tyson.
I thought the same thing

Now imagine if every community had access to a farm like hers! There would be no mass production and people would be eating local organic food!
Well thank government regulations for killing small farms.
The hens are sounding very happy and talking to each other. More like singing.
And they look and sound SO HAPPY! I love what you're doing, wish I could get all my eggs from your happy little brood there... this is the kind of care and respect we should have for ALL our farm animals!
Have you ever thought about using the compost larvae device I've seen ? Free rich soil, free food
We did the same on our farm! We had great success 1x a day feeding but also supplementing with an active compost pile they were able to scratch and turn for me. I loved it!
Wow!
This is a PRIME EXAMPLE on how to do this!!👏👏👏
I so appreciate your chicken raising approaches. Happy, healthy laying hens. ❤
This is awesome such a better more sustainable and humane way to raise food. No question in my mind that this is healthier for us.
I used a flock of 1500-2500 Game Chickens to sculpt the creek bank and hillside.Hens with chicks are great for leveling ground, lol👌🏻👍🏻
We use Kalmbach too!!!! Awesome 👍 we free range too!!!
When I start my farm, I am modeling it on what you do. You are a true inspiration.
