    Out of all the character deaths I think most people can agree that Carl being killed off was one of the worst decisions the show has made. From a story perspective it just makes no sense Carl should have been one of the last people still left standing when the show finally reaches it's conclusion.

    • @sanchez501
      @sanchez501 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I don't agree. Carl's death brought Rick back from the brink and gave him the motivation to spare Negan. In the comics, his motivation isn't all that clear. He goes from wanting to kill Negan to sparing his life. In the series, I thought that there needed to be an extreme event in order to explain why Rick shows mercy to his enemy and his promise to Carl gives him that. Why do you feel differently?

      Absolutely. That was the defining moment, not just for the main show but for TWD as a franchise. I was so into the show at the time that I intentionally looked up spoilers (from people that would sit in the trees and stuff where they shot the show), these guys were never wrong about a leak, but that? I didn’t believe it at all. I knew about it for like a week or two before the episode premiered, and genuinely thought that they finally got one wrong. That’s how insane of a decision it was. I then forced myself to finish s8 and then stopped watching. You could feel how slapped together at the last second it all was. Someone there suddenly realized Riggs was turning 18 so they forced nonsensically into the middle of the season. His actual last episode with the song and all, all felt so forced and so fake, you could just tell. That was the decision that let me know, oh they’re not trying to make the best show they can, they’re just trying to make money. It would be like if they killed Luke Skywalker at the beginning of episode 7 because the actor was turning 18 and they were just that greedy.
      At that point, do literally anything you can to not kill Carl. Get rid of loads of other characters, get rid of a few main characters if you “have” to. Killing off your main characters entire purpose for becoming and being who he is now is unbelievably stupid. And Carl had the most potential. He was the future of not just the show, but the franchise. Everything Rick and the group went through was witnessed and experienced by Carl. Imagine him carrying on after Rick, carrying the legacy of both Rick and the rest of what became his family. Him having those stories which to other people would seem like legends.
      Instead? Nah Carl got taken out by a couple of walkers that were stuck under a log, saving a new character that nobody cares about who will just be killed off an a season or two anyways. Good job writers
      Sorry for the length, I was a giant fan at one point. Still can’t believe it

    Firing Chandler killed the show for me. It took away Rick’s primary motivation on the show. Yeah, I know, Shane’s kid, Judith, was still around, but we didn’t get to see her relationship with Rick develop like we did with him and Carl, so I had little invested in her character, it just wasn’t the same, no matter how much the writers wanted it to be. I watched half-heartedly for a while until Lincoln and Danai left and at that point, the main story was over and they should have just ended it then and there.

    If I had to choose a way for Carl to have died. It would have been the pike scene. I'd have the flashback of him in the barn, get loose Rick grimes style, take a whisperer or two out which saves siddiq or maybe even Enid and then they manage to take Carl down and you can just see him mouthing run to siddiq and or Enid. Would have made a lot more sense and even better than what we got. Plus for the whole needing a reason to save negan, have it go down the same way but instead have Carl intervene between the two with some speech and then Rick decides to go with Carl's decision of a new world and cuts negans throat and rest would be history.

      I know this is 4 months old but it def was not Kirkman who fired riggs, He barley had any control of the show around this time.The man who deserve the "credit" is the showrunner at the time, Scott Gimple.

      Bro Kirkman wasn't the director he's the one who made the comic books.

      My Kirkman have no involvement after S8 cause him and a few EP sued amc for not being payed. Its also why Chandler was fired cause he was turning 18 and amc is cheap.

    The worst thing that happened on TWD.....made no sense from a story standpoint. I realize that many times they strayed from the source material.....but, this was huge. And despite the things that were said at the time, I'm sure the way this was handled & how it affected 'Rick's' storyline impacted Andrew Lincoln's decision to leave the show. Both of those characters leaving the showing absolutely hurt the show, in my opinion. I watched to the end, but it wasn't the same.

    Neither Glenn nor Carl should have been killed off. Glenn was one of the very first to start going through the walking dead with Rick. His death and Carl's made no sense and weakened the show.

      Removing Glenns death is like removing Obi-Wans death, or Ned Starks, or Boromirs. You Destroy The Story.

    These kids are so brainwashed to throw their money at colleges it's insane. He got a DORM ROOM??? Those things are expensive af and the size of a closet. Dude's worth $8 million and paying a school to stay in a fking closet. I'd be buying a house near campus lmao. Plus he rented his other house out to other cast members which was really smart and I bet you he actually is making profits off that house. Could have got into real estate or something before house prices soared, or just bought a few more houses to rent out, if he really wants to work that bad. Personally though I'd just kick back and enjoy being a millionaire for a while, or start looking at what I want to do next. Then when I figure it out, I'd learn it online. You can learn ANYTHING online. There's no need for college unless you want to be a doctor, or a few other professions where you really need that degree. Otherwise they have become a complete scam like everything else in this country.

    Carl's death was important to change the show. Everybody knows that seasons 7 and 8 were the worst ones of the entire franchise. TWD was dying. Andrew wanted to be with his family and when Carl died he decided to go because for him that ended Rick's motivation and reasons to be on the story. And because of all that, producers and devs made better seasons and stories.

      I disagree! Andrew was going to leave regardless, there was no need for Carl to leave for the quality of the show to increase. Carl should have been Rick's legacy and taken over as the show's lead
