I went out with a man who looked and acted like Len recently. He was from Yorkshire, it went alright till I realised he was stark raving mad. Len would gave been a safer bet. Oh well we live and learn.
That's a coincidence..I'm from Yorkshire and I'm stark raving mad as well. In fact that's my name.. Douglas Stark Raving-Mad, of the Ilkley Raving-Mads..

Jerry was such a perfect match for Mavis! They are so alike! So cute together! In reality they would have married, but the writers need the no husband Mavis storyline.
@@annoldham3018 The only thing I know about ordering wine is that when they offer you the cork, don't sniff it, just casually look at it. They offer it to you so you can see that the date on it matches the label on the bottle. It's the only thing I know that could make me look sophisticated and I don't drink wine.
Janet from old, who made her living trying to get her claws into anything that wasn't her's? I've never known a more deserving bloke in Ken Barlow to get caught in her snares!
Well the stair got moved to other side when it had to be rebuilt after a big fire and the back of the shop was used as a living room and kitchenette in conjunction with the flat upstairs but got used for shop space when shop got refurbished p.s wos you related to Phillis Pierce ?
What I want to know is, how is there room in the back of the pub for the hall, living room and kitchen all in the space that the snug takes up out front? And where the function room was supposed to be, given that from the outside the pub ends just past the window to the snug?
Two legendary British actresses: Doris Speed and Molly Sugden.
They could be sisters I think both applied for the role as pub landlady and Corris got it....
Great wee episode - loved Annie's leopard skin outfit.
It's top. Nellie's pussy bow blouse would have someone's eye out mind....
So that's where Bet Lynch got her inspiration!
I love Annie's outfit too.its very chic
Mavis and Jerry were a comedic match made in Heaven....but alas, Jerry (Graham Haberfield) left us too soon....❤
Funny that they work late at the pub, but they are there early, with hair done and makeup on!
So glad you are back. You have seen me through some bad times.
Beth Shields I’ll second that
I’ll third that ❤️
This has got to be the best episode ever!

@charlottebruce979 yes.ive known men like this.they are in every town..every street even
How times change. Jerry and Mavis grappling over the Italian dishes on the menu - these days there's an Italian chain on every corner!
I do think Jerry is lovely, He and Mavis are so alike
Thanks as always! Great episode.
Diedre (Anne Kirkbride) was only 18 years old in this episode. She was younger than Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) is today.
The hat & scarf suit her a treat !
Anna Kirkbridge was a bonny lass. Smoking and too much sunbathing really crucified her.
@@carolineg1872 but we loved her for it :)
She was fit back then ❤️

Mollie Sugden's real life husband William Moore portrayed Betty Turpin's husband Cyril.
He was Ronnie Corbett's dad in Sorry!. Language Timothy 😂
Mavis' mannerisms remind me of Steve MacDonald's daughter Emma today.
4:50 Alf starts to undo his coat ... goes back to him he starts un doing it again 😂
Yeah saw that. At 13:40 you see someone behind the green wall
🤣🤣😂😂
@@annoldham3018 no there isnt is a bounce from betty
Quality writing back then.
I always fancied Betty Turpin . Cracking bit of stuff
She’d give a proper dose of comfort x
Annie (about Nellie) “She could twist the story of the three bears into a scandal if she set her mind to it.” 😂😂

If only Mavis and Jerry got together but the actor playing Jerry Booth died so young
Way too young!
Grapefruit cocktail? Mavis, you little minx.
😄
Please can you upload 18/11 1972 because that’s when Deidre first appeared on Corrie
Thank you.

Gland gesture from Annie , !! , 10.20
11:43 Waiter: "Table for two"?
Booth: " Er er, no actually it's a Table for two ....... "
Why does Mavis remind me of Pippa (Janine Duvitski) in One Foot in the Grave?
Oh yes you're right, apart from Mavis smiling a lot more, there is some resemblance
I always thought Jerry and Mavis should have been Husband and Wife
If the actor who had played Jerry hadn't died, I wonder if that would have been. They did seem suited.
+James Falcon I agree with that James
I agree. Much better than Derek
Perfect match. Poor Jerry.
Too much alike - same with Derek - Mavis really needed a bit of rough who would liven things up a bit for her
What a fashion icon!
This Arthur character did not last Lind on the show did he? If not what happened to him?
14:45 mavis wears a sweater with a low neckline and covers the neckline with a scarf😂😂
Love the scene in Italian restaurant 😂
3:45 angry cleaning right there 😂
16:52 It doesn't take a lot to impress Mavis, does it? I wonder if Jerry knew his Barolo from his Bardolino?
I love how she looks on proudly whilst he orders the Chianti.

Nellie is from "Are U being served"
She was in the sitcom That’s the Boy too which is a good watch well i think so!..
That's MY boy!
She also okayed Nerys Hughes's mother in The Liver Birds and a cleaner on a space rocket in Come Back Mrs Noah.
Awesome
I like the fashion

Put that calendar up in any workplace today and heads will roll (Deidre and the workshop)
Good old Aunty
I keep thinking about Mrs Slocum
How come the Rovers stairs are on the other side and the back room in the shop is big enough to live in.
Well the stair got moved to other side when it had to be rebuilt after a big fire and the back of the shop was used as a living room and kitchenette in conjunction with the flat upstairs but got used for shop space when shop got refurbished

So the doors of the pub are open in the morning so Alf can just walk right in?? And why would he care what’s going on?!
Awwe Miss What’s her name from Are You Being Served
Mrs. Slocombe (and her 'pussy')
Slocombe

At 13:40 you can see someone behind the green wall on the left hand side. Just a little bit though.
I think that's a reflection of Betty (colour of her dress, and motion as she puts hand on hip), not sure why though.
@@Sawrattan okay 👍

Considering Betty and Maggie are sisters, they look nothing alike, do they?
I don't look like any of my six sisters but their still my sister in other words you don't have to look the same in a family it's genetic
Betty was really Bert.
Mavis had the best body of all the women on the street. Wait until you see her in a pair of shorts
The year i was born xx
-14.54 Soup can be filling? Soup?
Jerry is better dressed than Mavis!
“WHERE DID YOU GET THAT HAT DREARY?”
AC! 😗😗😗
Not as good as Buggernation street.
I actually clicked this expecting Buggernation St, that's how used I've got to it.
If you must know…. Lol
Great acting but its cringe.Fine acting by two good actors who you wouldnt go near with a barge pole in real life.
I always found Mavis a bit irksome with her silly whining..never been keen on people like her.
