@@mohammaddavoudian7897 Jerry and Deirdre kept Len and Ray's business going when they were being stupid buggers about it. Then they tried to get rid of Jerry to save money.
I suppose the type of society that coronation Street was based on no longer exists. It makes you wonder whether coronation Street can really go on as it is.
How prophetic that a death is announced at Len & Rita's engagement, especially with Jerry's monologue, only for Rita to receive similar news 9 years later.
And again, at a party. Martha Longhurst passed away at Frank Barlow’s leaving do, Val Barlow was killed during her own farewell party, Harry Hewitt, Derek Wilton, Don Brennan, Alf Roberts, Judy Mallett, Maxine Peacock, Ray Langton, Fred Elliott, Liam Connor, the tram crash deaths… Many more I’ve missed out probably. The juxtaposition of jollity and tragedy is a winning formula when it comes to dramatic effect.
Thank you so much for sharing these gems! Would you happen to know the episode or month, year when Stan suggests to Mrs Walker that she is in debt? I think Hilda had read Mrs Walkers post? It was hilarious and can't find it now!
With a bit of creativity he could have been an unseen character. He could have retired and taken up some bizarre hobby that kept him out of sight. They could have done it that we never found out what the hobby was. "Is Cyril at his club again?" "He is, I daren't think what he's going to bring back with him tonight. He's started taking over the back bedroom with it now." "As well as the shed and coalhouse? Eeh, Betty, love, yer've the patience of a saint."
I like Len. Ok, he is not perfect, but compensates with kindness and helping those who are in need. As far as Corrie is concerned, he will always be considered as one of the icons of the show.
Im just so grateful to you for uploading this, being in isolation is much easier with something good to watch so THANK YOU!
Hope you came through it fit and well.
@@annmc8392 thank you and you too!
Ha ha ha ha pure illusion and you fell for it. Did you have the fake vav and booster ?
Jerry Booth. What a monologue.
Graham Haberfield was a very good Actor. Real shame he died so young.
I think Jerry was a great character. A very likable and decent bloke. The actor portrayed the role impressively.

Elizabeth's hankie made its first appearence and never left her therefafter.
annie walker the matriarch was just simply magnificent
This is when Coronation Street had real characters and was good.
Oh the BLISS.. today it is slowly turning into the horror that I believe is EastEnders. Such an awful shame. 🤯

@@zeddeka The writers are clearly beating a dead horse these days. Same goes for Eastenders both shows have had their day
@@masterknife8423 Emmerdale superior to both imo

@@leoparkes7536 Yes it is a formula that has worked since Martha Longhurst's death in 1964. Other soaps copied it as well.

If anybodies capable of a good ponder it's Emily, she could ponder for Britain !
😂
Elsie Tanners Grandson put it well - the lady who always looks like she has forgotten someting
That was a very good scene mrs Walker, Maggie & Betty in the aftermath of Cyril's death. Annie spoke a lot of sense .
Wow ive never seen this episode - awsome
Ernest playing the opening theme for Next of Kin lol
Poor Betty 😔

Its a shame they didnt give Mycyril a better send of - its always nicer to see them pass away on screen - gives you more closure
Jerry was very poignant.
This is great!! Do you have Gail's first appearance (29th July 1974)
George Innes, the car guy, is the old dude with the coin in his skull in Master and Commander
Wise words Annie 👌👊🏻
George Innes owned the cafe in Quadrophenia
He's been in loads of things. He was in the original Italian Job too.🥰
Billy and his car buyer were to meet up again 5 years later in Danger UXB
Ha ha oh yes, I'd forgotten that. Kenneth Farrington was a nasty piece of work in that too!!!
That's how I remember Billy a horrid bully.
Betty 😢
Alfred from Upstairs Downstairs
I know Bet ended up with Alec, but did she and Billy ever get together? Looked like they might at one point.
No im pretty sure they never did
Feel sorry for Betty. I wish they had found a better way to remove Cyril from the show.

Ha ha yeah what happened to the guy in the car. 😀
He looks dead, but he isnt. I read up the next episode on fandom and he is just a bit dazed!

Looking back now Len Fairclough was a Gobby bloke.
True like hogden
A popular character though in the series.
I like him! He may be a bit brusque, but he's always the first to help, and is fair and kind - unlike the spiteful and unprincipled Billy Walker...

Not half as gobby as Billy.
How did Cyril die?
