No. Not your responsibility. If someone put unauthorized charges on the card, it's fraud. That's between her and the card provider. She's lying.
It’s still your card unless you report it stolen
I don’t think he should give her any money but I don’t necessarily believe she is lying. Credit cards don’t always reverse unauthorized charges without massive proof of fraud. It’s happened to family members more than you think.
I'm getting the vibe that ex BF didn't make unauthorized charges. I think it's WAY more likely that she "fronted" her ex BF whatever he bought with the card, relying on his BS promise that he'd repay her. Caller needs to RUN!!! There are WORSE things than being alone! (Namely, NOT being alone, but WISHING that you were!!)
Not sure if she's lying but I definitely wondered this because i've known people that helped an ex out and then turned it into, "My ex spent all my money!" when the reality is they let them spend the money because they either a) are still in love with the ex and/or b) the ex promised to pay it back and didn't. There is a better than zero chance she willingly let her ex use the credit card. I know dang well that if an ex used my credit card without authorization I'd immediately report to the police and file charges.
I wouldn’t care if she was lying or being honest. The fact that she believes it’s ideal for me to help pay for something she acquired before our relationship is wild. That mindset in itself is enough to keep me from marrying her. I would be preparing to part ways if I were him. I spot manipulators from a mile away🤷🏿
She's bold to ask for $12k. If her ex charged her card without her permission, she should report the charges as fraud. If she doesn't want to, she needs to pay it off or try getting the money back from him.
She probably was unsuccessful in her fraud challenge even though her ex could have been using the card illegally.
That being said he bends to say no AND end the relationship. The relationship will never be the same either way.
She probably can't cos she might be lying about her ex boyfriend using it cos men have a strong tendency to save women from what other men have put them through so the lie has a better chance of working than to just say that you were foolish and ran them up yourself.
I think she’s lying tbh. More likely she made some stupid relationship choices and spent money on the ex she now regrets.
@@whosaidthat9265 Or the ex might not be involved at all and she just ran it up herself and blamed the ex cos he's no longer in the picture to dispute her claim.
I know you do not believe the ex charged it up? 😂
She is lying her ass off. If her ex used her card without her knowledge, THATS FRAUD. Sue him or even have him charged with a crime. She is just trying to guilt trip this guy into paying for her bs. NO is a full sentence. FUCK NO would be better.
I wouldn’t give her any money.
However that doesn’t mean she will be successful in court getting that money from the ex. A “He said, she said” won’t get your money back.
Talk about saying what most are thinking…. And getting to the point

This the type of woman who will have you raising another man's kids too 😂 bro, dont simp for her
As a woman, this sounds so much like she's planning on making you pay off the card and then guilt trip you into allowing her not to pay you back at all. If you were a guy I knew or one of my husband's friends, I would tell you to run from this situation. She just wants to use you, and quite potentially planning to make you pay off the card and then vanish - and even if she doesn't vanish, I bet she is expecting you to propose and forgive that loan in the near future.
If you can't give $12k as a gift with no strings attached, don't give it. Even if it's supposed to be a loan.
100% - She's wants the $12k then she's going to dump him and vanish. If she intended to pay it back she would just make payments to the credit card company, she wouldn't need to get the loan from him.
See that running thing is hard to do when they live together. One of the many reasons living together before marriage is a terrible idea. He already sounds conflict-avoidant which is a terrible attitude to have in a relationship. He needs to put his big boy pants on and tell her no.
Don't do it! I loaned a boyfriend money. A couple of months later, he proposed. The payments stopped. He didn't feel he should pay it back since we were going to get married anyway. That wasn't how I felt about it. And no, we did not get married. But to his credit, he did pay me back after we broke up (I broke up with him for that and many other reasons). And yes, I did wonder if he proposed to get out of paying me back, if that was his reasoning that he shouldn't have to. It's a bad situation to put yourself in.
What a cheapskate trying to marry you just to avoid pay a debt. Good thing you left him.
Just think of what you escaped!! Hope your future is better!!
@@PhilipMarcYT Who knows how long the 'engagement' would last? And for him to make that assumption revealed a lot about him.
@@kaythegardener Definitely better!
If she cannot pay the credit company 300 bucks a month to pay it off, she cannot pay you either. The answer is no. She doesn't want her wages to be garnished. If the ex-bf spent all that money, why doesn't she take him to small claims court and get some of it?
Has he ever watched Judge Judy 😂 “It’s a loan!” “It’s a gift!”
No way. She will dump him right after he pays it off and he asks for it back. She will get another simp to pay for the next thing.

His gut reaction should have been to DUMP her immediately. She is using you, my guy. End of story.
exactly
I agree. She is definitely NOT a keeper. She's probably done this with every simp that she has dated.
Her plan is to probably get that 12k, dump him, and he never sees that money again. He better run before it's too late. He doesn't need someone like her.
Men use women since the beginning of the world.
when the situation was reversed, men don’t like this😃
Either way this is going to damage the relationship. Say no and get out.
Run , you will regret your decisions regarding her, get out and disappear. This is going to be a disaster, for Real.🕊️
When someone comes to you for a "loan", it is because the lending industry knows that they are a bad risk. They are a worse risk to you, due to your relatively weak position of recourse. This relationship will not last, either way.
They are also trying to get an interest free loan without terms that they can pay or not pay back whenever they want lol. Should never give anybody a loan regardless of who they are without atleast a contract stating the terms and time period to pay you back even if you do decide to give them little to no interest.
"She's got in a situation with her last partner"

Never loan anyone money, especially someone you are sleeping with. If you don’t think they’ll find it easier to come up with an excuse to dump you and with it a justification for sticking you with the debt then you are really naive.
Borrow? You mean give? Lol
I would be preparing to cut that relationship off the second she decided to ask me that 🤷🏿
No. Help her put together a plan that pays it off.
The answer is No. If she cannot pay back the credit card company, why would she be able to pay you back? Even with a 20% interest rate, the extra amount of money on $12,000 isn't that much.
It will make things simpler if she would go get a credit card with 0% on balance transfers. Transfer it, and cut the card in half.
Listened to the call again--her last partner used the card without her permission. Did she report it as fraud? If she did what was the result? Or were both of them legally liable for the debt?
The cc company probably didn’t have enough to reverse on the basis of fraud. It’s actually not that easy to get fraudulent charges reversed, especially on a debit card transaction.
DON'T DO IT!
Didn’t even make it through the intro before coming here to say, don’t do it.
So according to the caller, his gf wants him to subsidize her ex boyfriend's bad behavior to the tune of $12,000.
What if you break up, not your responsibility, make her sue her former partner.
People try to predict the economy not realizing it is not a capitalistic market, its a command economy, central planning! my concern is, instead of having much dollar in bank that could lose value to inflation, do I save in gold to reserve and grow wealth for now, or just hang on?
truth is that gold serves as an inflation hedge in the long run, but not profitable in the short run. only thing you can predict is a strong effort of wealth transfer from the people to the powerful. luckily some folks find solution in financial advisors
I wholeheartedly concur; I'm 60 years old, just retired, and have about $1,250,000 in non-retirement assets. Compared to the whole value of my portfolio during the last three years, I have no debt and a very little amount of money in retirement accounts. To be completely honest, the information provided by invt-advisors can only be ignored but not neglected. Simply undertake research to choose a trustworthy one.
Impressive can you share more info?
Certainly, there are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with "Sonia Duke " for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She's quite known in her field, look-her up.
She communicates on WHAT S A P P on the digits below>
Joe, just tell her... she already has a loan with visa or MasterCard,
She doesn’t need a loan. She just needs to pay it off.
This ain’t a red flag, this is the Russian flag. The fact that she asked the caller to loan her money for a previous bf’s mistake is WEIRD. Also, if she didn’t rack up the charges it’s fraud. This just reeks of deception and if i’m him, i’m running for the hills.
He shouldn’t loan her the money.
That being said not all fraud charges are reversed by the cc companies. It’s a flip of the coin. She could very well by the victim of fraud but still responsible for the charges.
@@Yogastrong908 if she can prove it wasn’t her, she has a high chance of them forgiving the loan. All in all dude should just run because it’s evident that she has zero boundaries finance wise.
@@Yogastrong908 true if they were cohabiting at the time the charges were made, even he used her card without her permission it fall into a gray area. She needs to file fraud charges with the police to get that kind of activity set aside.
Run! Don't walk away from this one!
Don't do it. As others have stated IF the charges are fraudulent she can sue the ex and see if she can get the funds that way. Otherwise she needs to develop a plan to pay this off by herself.
I doubt they’re fraudulent. My coworker gave his very short term gf his credit card and his old car. She maxed it out, took the car and the newborn to a new state
She wants you to pay her ex-boyfriend's bill? Crazy Crazy Crazy.
Did they address that she got into this mess and isn't making strides to get our? Even if ex used her card, that indicates she let him or doesn't watch her finances. Asking for another loan is kicking the can down the road. They need to be on the same page with financial goals and methods or this relationship is doomed to fail.
No marriage talk until she pays off that credit card debt, especially since it was from her ex
I mean granted 12k really isn’t that much but I wouldn’t want to wait forever if it was a big debt. You could write a contract that says your debt is yours and mine is mine but if you’re still saying after 6, why not just marry?
You’ll never get it back ….. just saying
not necessarily.

Next question
If her ex got access to her credit card and used it she should’ve reported that to the issuer and police to investigate as fraud so she’s not held responsible. It may be too late now since she didn’t seem to see the severity of it at the time it happened.
How does he use $12k and she didn’t know immediately or report it when it happened? She’s lying.
If she’s asking for a loan you’re entitled to see what you’re helping pay so ask for statements to see what she really bought.
As a woman I’m telling you do not loan her money for an alleged ex’s mistake. She should’ve reported that if it was in fact true fraud. She is lying to you and will likely break up with you after you pay (especially if there’s no contact to repay). She’s an adult and you’re not married so she’s responsible for her debt. If you turn down loaning her money and she becomes upset or threatens to break up with you, that’s your answer. She’s not entitled to you paying off her $12k loan.
And normally people will ask their family (parents) for money before asking a partner or friends. This is a little odd.
She’s lying. She let him have the money and it magically became fraud after they broke up
Hard no.
Saying no is the best way to see if you’ve actually got a keeper worth more than all the interest she’d pay in information about how she reacts to no

If you loan her money, you will never see it again for the rest of your life. She will continue to lie about paying it off and will always have excuses on why she can't pay it off. There's a reason she's coming to you asking for money: it's because everyone else has already said "No"

If someone else uses your credit card without your permission that’s call theft. She should file a police report and contact her credit card’s fraud department.
Does he own his home? If not, this would be $12,000 taken away from that down payment.
You're not gonna get married. As for the $12,000, it is up to you. If you have it and want to give it to her as your girlfriend and somebody that you love (only you would know), give it. If not, don't. You make the decision.

I'm surprised that they didn't mention the fact that borrowing 12k from him to pay off the credit card still leaves her 12k in debt. It's not like this is magically getting her out of debt so don't "loan" her the money.

If she doesn’t pay you back do you really want to be paying her ex’s charges?
No!
No! Plan and simple. However, you can work as her advisor by calling around and helping her get a debt consolidation loan. These debts often require decent credit scores and a good employment history. The credit card should already be cancelled, so no new debt is added. Regardless of her excuse/explanation, she’s not good with money yet.
If you really want to help tell her you will match her 50 cent on the dollar for every dollar you put in ill put in 50 cent in the end with interest she probably pays $14k and you pay 3.5k but it does two things teaches her responsibility and shows you are willing to help, sounds like you have money so assuming this isnt a burden
I have to say, I love the fact that he had to make ONE call… and it wasn’t a family member or lawyer… but to The Dave Ramsey Show! She shoulda googled the show the moment he said it. She would then know the answer is going to be a hard NO! I also believe the 12k is to put into HER account. The idea that he’s even CONSIDERING paying off another dude’s debt is beyond me. He just shoulda said: “I don’t feel comfortable loaning (aka: LOSING) that amount of money”. End of story.
The answer should be....Sorry, I cannot loan you the money, but I can help you set up a plan to pay off the card. I will be here for moral support and cheer you on, be by your side as you succeed in paying down the debt.
It's telling that she would feel entitled enough to put him into such an awkward position in the first place. 🥴
Already made one mistake- shacking up. About to make a second mistake-being surety for a friend.
So she is stuck paying for someone else’s bills, right?
But she wants him to pay her bills for her.
