+GRUMPY Thanks! I do like the way it turned out. People have complemented it a few times now. It's just a good thing I didn't realize how long it was going to take.
I'm gearing up to do the TAT with my son, 15 yrs old, I have a Gen1 KLR I'm trying to make suitable for the ride. I really like your dashboard. Thanks and congrats, looks awsome.
Thanks! It was more popular than I thought it would be. When do you think you'll be doing the TAT? I was thinking about doing the leg between Idaho and the Pacific this August.
@@ObsessiveCycleDisorderMeridian We will start it at some point this summer. We are in Alabama and have a big camping trip the last week of May to the Florida Keys, very excited about that. So after that we will probably do a weeks worth of riding on the TAT. He has a Yamaha XT250 he's riding. We will begin our ride in the Atlantic Ocean at Hateras. It's going to be a great summer. We will have to keep in touch and maybe meet up on the trail one day and compare dashboards. Lol
Thank you for the dash upload! That dash looks exceptionally well done. I am defiantly gonna send you an email. I want a dash like that... I have replaced the vacuum petcock with an non vacuum unit, I am using the vacuum out put on the carburetor to attach a vacuum gauge to give me relative manifold pressure and I am thinking about placing it in a dash like yours.... your intro volume is so much better as well...
+kcatto21 Thanks for watching! I haven't had trouble with my petcock yet, but I have read on klr forums that it is a common problem. If you haven't already, you may want to consider bypassing the kickstand safety switch too. Mine is acting up now. I will post a video when I fix it.
I will get the pattern emailed to you sometime this weekend. I scanned it, but before I start sending it out, I want to clean up the image in photoshop so it will be easier to cut out and trace.
+Obsessive Cycle Disorder Thank you so much for sending me the pattern! I take it you received my email... I bypassed my kickstand switch and removed it from my bike when I rebuilt the wiring harness. I am 43 and have been licensed to ride bikes on the road since I was 14yrs old. I have never once forgot my kickstand. I did the petcock mod because I the original petcock was rusted and damaged beyond repair when the bike was stolen before I rescued it as a theft recovery.
+kcatto21 I have heard that you can wire the kickstand kill switch to a toggle as a security feature. Just flip the switch when you park it. The thief can start the bike but won't be able to ride off with it! I might do that instead. Also I sent you the template today along with some pointers on how to avoid some problems. Thanks for watching!
This is great! I have a couple of 3D printers. My large format is down for a new stepper motor and some cooling mods, but I definitely am going to look into modeling and printing this housing out of PETG or a similar material.
That is a great mod. It may be a lot of work but it looks like a factory piece. Thanks for showing it. Great job my man. Where did you get the usb jacks?
+Obsessive Cycle Disorder I'm assuming the voltage meter is actually monitoring the bike's overall voltage and not just the usb ports? All in all, you've done a great job on this upgrade.
Wow! Looks great. Anything worth doing is worth doing well! Well done!
That dash panel was well worth the time mate. Making something look crap is easy but that looks "Factory"!!...Nice work.

I disagree, I think this is TOTALLY worth it - thank you for taking the time to share!!

thank you so much, and I might go back and wire that toggle idea, since this is was theft recovery to begin with..

That would be a really good solution! I'd like to see it when it's done!
I don't think the template link works anymore!!! HELP!
Esneekee Juan just checked, it's working. I think you need to have a Gmail account to open it.
I do. It opened drive but there was no file in the drive folder. Maybe it's my mistake.
+Esneekee Juan email me at the address in the description. I'll send you PDFs

+alluredjs Thanks! It is working great, I'm glad I did it. I got the USB on Amazon
I like it, good job, glad you did it. Ton
Thank you! I'm glad I did too. Thanks for watching
I put a link to the template in the description, just click the "SHOW MORE" button.

+waldoinaz thanks! You assume correctly. It is wired to the switch that is wired directly to the battery. The USB does far less than 12 volts.
Looks cool.
+Elihu Spitz thanks!
thanks
you check out (KLR dash.com)
+Jim M I saw that on everide's channel. Unfortunately those only work on 08+ models. That would have saved me a lot of work. Thanks for watching!
