Hey guys, I live in Portugal as well and I've been following you for 2 years now. But I do have an honest question to you. Why didn't you first setup solar power and water system? It would have made building so much faster and easier imo. I saw you carrying those water barrels and buckets so many times. If you peel all your citrus fruits; whether you eat/juice/jam them or compost the fruit. Dry the rinds and keep them out of the weather, the rinds are full of oil and make great fire starters and will fill you home with a lovely aroma. You can do the same with pine cones. Can't wait to see the rest of your home completed - but don't overdo it.
Those are great ideas for adding to their garden compost and for the Firestarter and more! They have so much fruit on their property that there is no way they can eat it all. Maybe when they build the addition they'll be able to put up some of their excess fruit and possibly some vegetables from their garden. Future plans! They still need to get a barn built to keep the tools and vehicles and other things out of the weather. It really takes quite a while when you do so much by yourself.
Oh my goodness! That inside wall looks stunning, with the white plastered wall next to it, the wall literally pops out at you. You two make one heck of a team. Can not wait to see the wall finished.

Pointing looks fab, if you get short of funds you now have a trade Theo. Nice to see you back in the videos too Bea, the pond idea is good for the garden as frogs eat slugs so natural pest control, grow reeds and iris's on the edge and that will attract bees to pollinate your veggies

I wanted to be early but I just had to watch the entire video first. You both work together so well! I know there was some concern about the pointing taking some of the charm away from the original "rock," but that isn't the case AT ALL! The pointing is what's bringing out the stone! Leaving this wall last when Theo has really honed his skills at pointing was the BEST idea. Along with Bee's getting the indoor stone so shiny - it all just sparkles! Amazing! You're going to be sitting in your comfy chairs on cold evenings watching your rock twinkling - forget reading or watching videos! Congratulations! It's getting better every video!

Oh yes, WAUW was also my first word, when I saw the pointed top of the wall inside. It really brings life and glory to these old stones, and a future in the spotlight after decades in a dark barn, where they've done their job in protecting all the animals.

Theo is really doing a magnificent job on those walls. I saw a hole when you showed the outside wall, what will you be doing with that spot, a tiny window perhaps? So happy to see you back Bea, your presence has really picked up Theo's spirit I think. ❤❤❤
It surprises me how much the lime transforms the stone. Before pointing it looks a mess. All jagged and sticking out oddly. But once you've pointed, the wall suddenly looks flat and neat. You are working miracles in your home! You should find a few blue bottles that are squarish and point those into your open hole...just think how pretty the color when the sun shines through it. You would probably have to cut the necks off the bottles and mount them bottom side out on each side...but it would seal out bugs and weather...yet be a spot of color. Just a thought... :)
Remembering how hesitant and nervous Theo was when he first had to do pointing. What an inspiration to anyone who is hesitating to tackle ANY project. Just jump in, and if you try to do well, you will just keep progressing. Great job. Bea's part can't be underestimated. It takes a huge load off of Theo's pointing to have the stones prepped and ready. Instead of having twice the work load, he has half. Great team work! By now you have probably completed the job and it must feel wonderful! One big step closer to moving in.

Wow! Cleaning the stone has brought out the natural colours of the stones, some blue grey and some rusty browns. Looks incredible against the mortar of the pointing. Theo I agree with the other comments that you definitely have the skills to hire yourself out to do jobs for others. The build has been your master class. It's all really coming along! The wall is looking great, and it's interesting to hear about your development plans. I would suggest that you paint the water collection units black - it will help keep the plastic from breaking down and becoming brittle in the sun's UV rays, and it will minimize algae growth in the water. I follow a few homesteaders on YT who are in desert regions, and this is one step they all take when setting up a new water catchment.

If it's been framed it's a window, if it's lower to the ground that's probably for plumbing the kitchen

It surprises me how much the lime transforms the stone. Before pointing it looks a mess. All jagged and sticking out oddly. But once you've pointed, the wall suddenly looks flat and neat. You are working miracles in your home! You should find a few blue bottles that are squarish and point those into your open hole...just think how pretty the color when the sun shines through it. You would probably have to cut the necks off the bottles and mount them bottom side out on each side...but it would seal out bugs and weather...yet be a spot of color. Just a thought... :)
🇬🇧 It's a great thought. I was thinking a piece of coloured glass at each end but two same coloured bottles is a really good idea.
Remembering how hesitant and nervous Theo was when he first had to do pointing. What an inspiration to anyone who is hesitating to tackle ANY project. Just jump in, and if you try to do well, you will just keep progressing. Great job. Bea's part can't be underestimated. It takes a huge load off of Theo's pointing to have the stones prepped and ready. Instead of having twice the work load, he has half. Great team work! By now you have probably completed the job and it must feel wonderful! One big step closer to moving in.

Wow! Cleaning the stone has brought out the natural colours of the stones, some blue grey and some rusty browns. Looks incredible against the mortar of the pointing. Theo I agree with the other comments that you definitely have the skills to hire yourself out to do jobs for others. The build has been your master class. It's all really coming along! The wall is looking great, and it's interesting to hear about your development plans. I would suggest that you paint the water collection units black - it will help keep the plastic from breaking down and becoming brittle in the sun's UV rays, and it will minimize algae growth in the water. I follow a few homesteaders on YT who are in desert regions, and this is one step they all take when setting up a new water catchment.
