Jemima is such a darling, this is the first thought that comes to mind when I listen to her. Practically exudes goodness, an iron lady with gentleness, indomitable spirit, and phenomenal courage. Despite many ups and downs, she's still chosen to hold on to the positives. More power to you and I hope you write many more stories from your unique perspective.

The film was very necessary in a world which sees Pakistani’s as ‘terrorist’, let’s face it even Kim in Yunhi- seems at loggerheads with her cousin whom she calls a terrorist!😩
Amidst the more comedic aspects, there were some hard hitting home truths of how he ( a British born Pakistani doctor);has to be at the airport earlier than the white British neighbours in case he is ‘randomly’ picked for body search! I think the dialogue around the two families living in the same country as neighbours but ‘continents apart’ was poignant! It made statement s on assisted marriages versus love marriages, but also tinder V those Asian marriage brokers! It was fun and truthful too on many aspects of life in the two countries, and oh what a pleasant surprise and joy of listening to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s Sufi rendition!
Sajal did justice to her role,and looked gorgeous too! Emma Thompson for me was absolutely spot on, as the very quirky mother of the the lead Lily James, and Nitan Sawneys music was a treat! Shabhana Azmi is such an elegant and at ease performer too! The whole cast brought comedy and a punch to the world of the British Pakistanis torn between two cultures! I think it’s well worth a watch, and I’m happy that Jemima Khan made this film! It certainly resonated with me!
Just a note though has anyone watched another British Asian film made decades ago called Bhaji on the beach? That is also a very hard hitting yet comedic film made by Gurinder Chadha, and screen play by Meera Sayal which is still very relevant in todays UK!
Bhaji on the beach! That’s a blast from the past- came in 1993 , so true Gurinder made a brilliant movie and not a lot has changed in all these 30 years (ladies blackpool road trip with all different ages , abusive marriages and much more )

So i watched it yesterday, and i liked it.
It was a easy breezy one, and all the actors did justice whatever they were given on paper.
Shehzad latif, lily, emma , shabana and our very on sajal aly with a great performance finally at the last half an hour if the movie, belongs totally her.
Jemima khan so a good start for ur first feature film and who else can do justice other then shekar kapoor...

Well I have seen the movie yesterday and my honest opinion is it doesn't worth that much of hype, and I m bit skeptical to say that Pakistan is shown much like in a positive light, secondly they have shown Pakistan more like India may be bcoz it is directed by an Indian director and moreover the one thing on which we are very proud of is our institution of marriage and clearly in the movie we are being told how shallow and collapsible it is,but like the interview,big clap to Amna,love from England ❤️
Haven't watched the movie but that's what I thought when I saw the trailer. Looked mediocre at best, and not too close to the Pakistani reality!
I watched it and it was actually quite good and quite realistic portrayal of 2nd generation British Pakistani…divorces are reality and they are on increase even in pakistan…we don’t have to present a perfect picture of pakistan and movie shows a lot of good things about pakistan
A movie which actually don’t crap on Pakistan like every other movie made in west or other countries I would take it as a positive thing , it was fun and light hearted it’s a rom com and saw many Westerners enjoying it so not sure what u were looking for ?

I wish the movie showed more positivity rather than all the negative ending it had in showing arranged marriages. Also shows how its fine to marry non muslims. Not a good film for our young generation in my opinion. Was very disappointed in what sajal was shown to be
I watched the film but I think sajal represented the elite Lahoris perfectly who act more ‘modern’ than Pakistanis living oversees tbh. I expected her to be dating someone but the drinking at wedding was a bit of a reach, although the dancing was apt. We know what’s happening at weddings these days. I also think in the end they didn’t really show either options arranged (Shehzad) or dating apps (Lily) positively, so I don’t actually understand what the film was trying to say or achieve. But yes it definitely did try to show a Muslim girl marrying a non Muslim in a positive light and acceptable, which we know it cannot be.
