Jagjeet ji ki ak jhalak dikhai di, specially music composition, bahut sari badhai aur shubhkamnaye.
Yusuf Salli ( Yusuf Salahuddin) is one of the grandsons of renowned Poet Muhammad Iqbal ( Saare Jahan se ach'chha Hindustan hamara). His mother "Muneera" is the only daughter of Allama Iqbal.
This ghazal was composed over 12 years back, by Yusuf Salahuddin and it was first sung by Singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, in a form of Qau'waali. Later in a "Geet" form it was sung by Ali Zafar too.
Pratibha Singh Baghel comes from a non-Urdu background, but pronounces hardest expressions of Urdu letters. She deserves appreciation for her love of Urdu Ghazal rendition. She is excellent & impeccable in her art of presentation. No doubt, she has a good voice too. Congratulations!

اسی غزل کو راحت فتح علی نے بھی گایا جو ایک قوالی کا انداز ھے وہ توایک لیجنڈ ھے جو سما باندھ دیتا ھے چونکہ جس کا استاد ۔نصرت فتح علی ھو اس کا کون مقابلہ کرے لیکن حقیقیت یہ ھے کہ پرتیبھا سنگھ نے بھی اسے ایک غزل کے انداز میں پیش کر کے کمال ھی کردیا ھے۔۔۔۔۔اللہ اس بچی کو بھت اونچا مقام دے آمین ثم امین۔۔۔۔
The legend Rahat Fateh Ali khan has sung it as a remarkable qawwali but Paratibha Singh has made it a ghazal which will be remembered for years to come....
Singing is very calm & sublime but accompanying music is even more etheral.

Simply mesmerizing performance by Pratibha Singh Baghel. I have no doubt that in due time she will definitely rank with legends like Mehdi Hasan and Ghulam Ali. Feel really lucky to have found this video. The composition was superb indeed.
Mehdi Hasan was nothing… he had greatness thrust upon him.Jagjit Singh Ji was really king of ghazal. This lady will match him one day.

Pratibha certainly has the talent not just a pretty figure. Mehdi Hassan was a master but from a different genre. Letting him sing filmi songs was undermining his stature, a shear waste of talent.

When you sing in a verse (Misra)repeatedly you build in the inquisitiveness for the completion of the sher. That adayegi is missing altogether in koi ummed bar nahi aati. The soul of the ghazal is missing. It’s a dead ghazal

Masha'Allah. Pratibha Singh Baghel ji is a very accomplished Ghazal singer and has done justice to this composition by Yousaf Salli Sahib and of course Ghalib Sahib's magical poetry.
I also recommend Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's Qawwali version which is simply brilliant.
Me sitting in Greater Manchester, England listening to this performance in India of a composition from Pakistan confirms that music knows no boundaries.
