I'd say. Fitting drummer for these beauties. The cure got to a point where they needed Andy. Boris. As lol was okay. Sadly couldn't keep up musically. Plus. Seems to have pissed off Smith.
the drum sound on those 1st cure albums is so unique and nobody ever talks about it. man has come up with one of the most specific drum sound ever and all everyone is ever asking him about is "where did you meet Robert Smith".
Okay. Here's what I am thinking. Think of YOUR friends! Now what if you knew ROBERT SMITH (ordinary name. Definitely not ordinary guy!) as pals since you were 5, AND play those incredible drums on those CURE albums!! I wanna talk to this guy now!
In all honestly though, if truth be told, in the early-ish days of their career no-one really at the time used the term "goth" when talking about The Cure - they would have always been considered primarily as a post-punk band.
Right! I was a Cure fan in the 17S, F and P years (I'm still a fan of the "old" Cure, btw!) and we just called it new wave back then. Had never heard of goth in those years... it's a term I first came across late 80s or maybe early 90s even when I heard people describing the "new" of the Disintegration era (which I think is not bad at all, but it doesn't grab me as much as the first four album do). The first four albums are really iconic!
@haydenwittig8877 six different ways....it showcases Boris and Simon's rhythm and Robert's "Here's comes that American voice again" is just perfect. Bonne journée.

The interviewer sounds exactly like Rick. The interjections, the cadence of the interview. It's conspicuously the same voice and a bit oddly formulaic.
those three albums in my view are the best ..well done lol.
Magnificent interview
Legend !!!!! Great drummer

Lol is my fav of all sidemen in bands...totally like a Ian Stewart character...more about his personality than actual musicianship...crucial member
Exactly! He provided so much character and soul. Plus he looks good in the videos.
True.
@@KlausBahnhof his hair was too curly. Lol. He did his best. But then. To be in Simon's beautiful shadow sucked.
i don't see him as a sideman so much as a guy who liked to drink too much and so got kicked out ..
Happy 65th Birthday Lol

no ..new wave, at the time there was punk and then came new wave ...only many years later did the term post punk come about.

Let's search those audio books n take a walk
They don’t even discuss Faith. Just a few words about overall idea of the sound and that’s it. Wtf????
Really??? Faith is the best cure album ever

the woman interviewing him sounds like Rick Rubin?
yes@@SoROwCycle
His book on the cure is cute. Seems like mostly fiction. Inspired Shiver and Shake.
Robert indeed runs the band contractually. I have no need to disbelieve what he wrote.
Alot wrong things here
Could you elaborate?
