I suggest job seekers/graduates should first concentrate on brushing and learning communication and networking skills. Ideally they should invest sometime on understanding how is the job market organized, what skills they should develop, and then proceed in a logical way. I read a post online in which a dad says to his son "Beta MBA karne se accha koi famous sports club/gymkhana ki membership le leta. Waha pe kaafi logo se networking ho jati"

@hellofvision hi .. science neet student in my final year of BBA right now specialising in Human resources..could relate to your situation..so thot my opinion could help.. when I started bba ofcourse it felt a lot more easier than science coz come on man commerce is interesting and less difficult than PCMB ..Bba has the scope and skills required for a business minded person it's just please choose a college which gives both theory and practical knowledge.. otherwise only theoretical part will not help..in your final year you'll get to do internship on which you will have a project..after that you can continue your internship or turn it into a full time job (ask your company regarding that) or you can choose to pursue mba in india or master of your specialisation abroad..coz did some research and cost of mba in india and cost of masters in specific field(finance, marketing ,HR , supply chain management) is the same but masters in specific field gives more exposure and knowledge and apparently is only of one year as opposed to mba which is of two years..plus I saw the curriculum of mba literally almost same subjects of bba and given the declining GDP, recession and inflation, I would suggest do your bachelor's here and then go for masters abroad! But again do your own independent research and go ahead with what you think will be best suitable for your career. Good luck!!

An online MBA canNot be compared with an offline one. However, I have stated this before - pick the best college over the course. Picking up a random offline MBA isn’t going to be better than a good online mba
In online MBA , there is hardly any LIVE classes and even if LIVE classes happen the professors does not state the queries asked by students. As of my opinion , online mba is all about completing the assignments and clearing exams just to get a degree . There is no knowledge and interaction involved. Its just that you are doing online MBA just for the sake of adding it to you CV @warikoo please tell how people get knowledge and a good exposure from Online MBA. Please make a video on this.

Rather than opting for a random offline MBA, my personal opinion is that, it would be better to explore what are the various good universities that offer other PG business courses (assuming that is the field of interest) apart from an MBA.
Hi Ankur ,, I totally agree with you .. gaining knowledge while working is very effective and degree is important for getting promotions when we are competing in an environment of competition.. but it is not required to leave job for pursuing MBA. As well while doing online classes we get associated with all kinds of professional.. who are working in different fields as well. Recently I came across an online course Executive program in digital marketing which is an alternative to MBA offered by Digital Vidya in association of Deakin University.

I have done my BTech in Mechanical and have been working in sales for more than two years now. When I realised I can have a huge growth after MBA I started looking for a good MBA programs. A full time on campus MBA is not my cup of tea and as you said if not a merit based selection then it's not worth it. A distance MBA does not make sense so as confirmed by you. I have something different to say. I worked in a 2 leading Chinese mobile companies (both in China & India) . I come from language and literature background and didn't have any businesses knowledge. In my last job I have worked for more than 2.5 years in various fields. I became part of core product because of my knowledge about Mobile industry and language speaking capability. Last February when I left my last organisation and joined a hardcore Swiss pharma giant, I realized I have learned many things which I never realized. Talking with my new team mates I realized I know a bit of everything they are talking. Be it product roadmap, or customer segmentation or consumer research. I never realized these when I was in my previous organisation. So my take is if you get in to a decent organisation and you are being given opportunity to grow, you can do wonders even without MBA. But I am planning for an fulltime MBA leaving my handsome salary and ready to bare the loss of opportunity cost.

Upgrad is good but let me tell you that after going through a course of MBA program, I discovered that most of the classes are pre-recorded in that session and only 10 to 20% classes are in the live format. So i think it is directly proportional to a distance program.

Dear Warikoo, Some points which I understood after talking to online MBA course providers like upgrad. 1. They don't respect you as they respect their regular on-campus students, you are like second grade citizen to them. 2. You can't use College resources like libraries. 3. You don't have access to their on-campus placement programmes or any kind of assistance for job or careers ( which is only reserved for on-campus students) 4. Literally they are after your money and making fool out of poor students who already cannot afford their more expensive on-campus programmes. Please don't delete this comment let everyone give their views on it.
This is the only concern I have too. The problem is I didn't performed well in my 10+2, but did well in bachelors. My concern is that I can't apply to top B-schools in India, becouse probably they will reject me bcoz of my poor academics, and when I think of online MBA, there're lot of scams going on that someone can't trust it.

I have few questions about an online MBA if I do it from a top college: 1: If I want a MBB consultant job will that be anyway helpful? My observation: I strongly fill no. 2: Yes I do feel nowadays IIMs and ISB are really expensive and online MBA is quite affordable but will that give me a similar peer group. My observation: Selection criteria is IIM or ISB are way way harder than online MBA. So quality of peer group will never be same. And talking about fees one should not think about fees if admitted in elite schools. Lastly I am not a IIM or ISB guy but my personal observations by talking with successful MBA grads from top school. I will be more than happy to be provided wrong if did any mistake in any of the above points.

I also think online training from globally recognized colleges is worth it. I did a digital marketing training course online. They had live classes, flexible schedule and I learned a lot from my expert trainers. They encouraged a hands-on practical approach. My peer group was a mix of freshers and professionals. My training institute called Digital Vidya has recently collaborated with Deakin University that is globally recognized. Online training programs are suitable for anyone who wants to upskill and beginners.

The problem is Indian companies don't recognize Online MBA, they want classroom one and in India From which college you did classroom MBA matters a lot. MBA as you said it is a different ball game. I also did MBA regular, The environment in classroom MBA is different. Grading is different you have to beat scores of others in order to pass in that subject, No matter how good you are if someone else is better than, you will loose. Assignments which we would do in the group have a different experience. But yes given a choice Online MBA as you explained would be better than Distance learning one
You still haven't understood his point, online MBA is an option for those people who can't leave their full-time jobs, who have a lot of other responsibilities. They have yo juggle a lot of other things while they look to also upskill. Also folks like me, who are looking to upskill or get another degree will opt for something like this. You are privileged and lucky that you had the financial backing and time to go pursue a full time MBA...but for the rest of the folks like me we had to stop at graduation because our parents couldn't fund our further education....so right now working and funding our own MBAs is the best thing. Last but not least MBA doesn't add any additional value to other than help you negotiate a better salary or stand out amongst the rest who also probably have a master's...this is that degree that will help your CV get to the hiring managers table, the rest everything I assure you after 10 yrs of working in the industry is only sheer hard work and what you actually learn on the job...no fulltime or part-time degree can help replace that. Hope you understand what the other side also meant thank you. Jai hind and all the best to the hustlers out there!
Online MBA doesn't have opportunities of team work, projects and cases study discussions, these are essence. In Class room MBA, provided you are serious takes 14 hours / day which is not possible in online MBA with work where you give only 3 hours per day on an avg

Hello @warikoo Choosing colleges in India is based on the placements in college. Also the companies are also hiring from top colleges only. And the people who are working and doing online MBA are not offered the same salary hikes, much much Below than then the salaries offered to fresher from a top institute full time program

I have something different to say. I worked in a 2 leading Chinese mobile companies (both in China & India) . I come from language and literature background and didn't have any businesses knowledge. In my last job I have worked for more than 2.5 years in various fields. I became part of core product because of my knowledge about Mobile industry and language speaking capability.
Last February when I left my last organisation and joined a hardcore Swiss pharma giant, I realized I have learned many things which I never realized. Talking with my new team mates I realized I know a bit of everything they are talking. Be it product roadmap, or customer segmentation or consumer research. I never realized these when I was in my previous organisation. So my take is if you get in to a decent organisation and you are being given opportunity to grow, you can do wonders even without MBA.
But I am planning for an fulltime MBA leaving my handsome salary and ready to bare the loss of opportunity cost.

Upgrad is good but let me tell you that after going through a course of MBA program, I discovered that most of the classes are pre-recorded in that session and only 10 to 20% classes are in the live format. So i think it is directly proportional to a distance program.

Some points which I understood after talking to online MBA course providers like upgrad.
1. They don't respect you as they respect their regular on-campus students, you are like second grade citizen to them.
2. You can't use College resources like libraries.
3. You don't have access to their on-campus placement programmes or any kind of assistance for job or careers ( which is only reserved for on-campus students)
4. Literally they are after your money and making fool out of poor students who already cannot afford their more expensive on-campus programmes.
Please don't delete this comment let everyone give their views on it.
This is the only concern I have too.
The problem is I didn't performed well in my 10+2, but did well in bachelors. My concern is that I can't apply to top B-schools in India, becouse probably they will reject me bcoz of my poor academics, and when I think of online MBA, there're lot of scams going on that someone can't trust it.

I have few questions about an online MBA if I do it from a top college:
1: If I want a MBB consultant job will that be anyway helpful?
My observation: I strongly fill no.
2: Yes I do feel nowadays IIMs and ISB are really expensive and online MBA is quite affordable but will that give me a similar peer group.
My observation: Selection criteria is IIM or ISB are way way harder than online MBA. So quality of peer group will never be same.
And talking about fees one should not think about fees if admitted in elite schools.
Lastly I am not a IIM or ISB guy but my personal observations by talking with successful MBA grads from top school. I will be more than happy to be provided wrong if did any mistake in any of the above points.
Are iim colleges able to compete with these foreign universities in terms of quality course and quality faculties ?

Adding on now they have recently collaborated with Deakin University & have also started with an Executive Program in Digital Program . I’d a great experience with them. I also think online training from globally recognized colleges is worth it. I did a digital marketing training course online. They had live classes, flexible schedule and I learned a lot from my expert trainers.
They encouraged a hands-on practical approach. My peer group was a mix of freshers and professionals. My training institute called Digital Vidya has recently collaborated with Deakin University that is globally recognized. Online training programs are suitable for anyone who wants to upskill and beginners.

The problem is Indian companies don't recognize Online MBA, they want classroom one and in India From which college you did classroom MBA matters a lot. MBA as you said it is a different ball game. I also did MBA regular, The environment in classroom MBA is different. Grading is different you have to beat scores of others in order to pass in that subject, No matter how good you are if someone else is better than, you will loose. Assignments which we would do in the group have a different experience. But yes given a choice Online MBA as you explained would be better than Distance learning one
You still haven't understood his point, online MBA is an option for those people who can't leave their full-time jobs, who have a lot of other responsibilities. They have yo juggle a lot of other things while they look to also upskill. Also folks like me, who are looking to upskill or get another degree will opt for something like this. You are privileged and lucky that you had the financial backing and time to go pursue a full time MBA...but for the rest of the folks like me we had to stop at graduation because our parents couldn't fund our further education....so right now working and funding our own MBAs is the best thing. Last but not least MBA doesn't add any additional value to other than help you negotiate a better salary or stand out amongst the rest who also probably have a master's...this is that degree that will help your CV get to the hiring managers table, the rest everything I assure you after 10 yrs of working in the industry is only sheer hard work and what you actually learn on the job...no fulltime or part-time degree can help replace that. Hope you understand what the other side also meant thank you. Jai hind and all the best to the hustlers out there!
Online MBA doesn't have opportunities of team work, projects and cases study discussions, these are essence.
In Class room MBA, provided you are serious takes 14 hours / day which is not possible in online MBA with work where you give only 3 hours per day on an avg

Query: Will that online degree be considered by companies in/outside India ? During promotions or while changing the field/industry based on online MBA degree?
Do make sure the Online degree is actually a degree issued by an university - ideally both Indian and international.
In case of Indian universities, you need to check AICTE and/or UGC approval for online MBA degree......
