    Greg, always find time to give your video's a watch. Appreciate your time and effort, even without your star cameraman in this video. 🙂Totally agree, Starlink is BEST for staying connected. It has worked flawlessly for me in some pretty remote spots. Rock on from Michigan!

      Thanks so much for always being a faithful viewer and subscriber! I really appreciate it more than you know. Indeed, my son is really an excellent camera guy - - but sometimes I’ve got to get out there and chase down cameras myself! AHHAHA. And re: starlink. I consider it now a necessity for safety and overall connectivity if something goes wrong at camp … or in the world around me. Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

    Love your channel, the more minimalist approach is very interesting to me, so many people out there literally in a competition to see who can build the highest heaviest rig possible 😂

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      AHAHAH, ya I know what you mean. My rig has come along way from what was fairly minimalist to where it is today. It’s still pretty lightweight overall and I try to keep the overall gear footprint down a bit. Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

    Plus one to all the points you make. Not so much "work" for me but phone calls to a worried wife and disaster preparedness. Can't be beat!

      Agree 100% on the disaster prep. We’ve seen two major disasters in the last 6 months in the US. And Starlink came to the rescue both times for so many! Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

    Also, for those that haven't met you... this is an incredibly nice guy. I came up to him as a stranger who's had Jeeps since the 80's and wanted to check out his pop-up camper top, ended up talking with him for more than half an hour. Friendly, funny and very generous with his time and knowledge. As a guy who doesn't generally like people that much, I was very glad I decided to shoot the sh*t with him.

    Good video! Something about being in the snow covered woods gives right amount of beauty and solitude to recharge the spirit. That Starlink is becoming more and more attractive. It would have been handy last June when my son and Iwere camping in the Gunnison National Forest near Taylor Reservoir.

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Ya, I can’t say enough how important having a Starlink really is. For me, we need Food, Water, Shelter, Clothes … and … now internet! With what we’ve seen in LA this last week, being prepared for a disaster is key and internet is becoming an integral part of preparedness. Cheers! Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

      @TrailNewbie we made base camp for three days at the Gunnison National Forest camp. We spent a little time hikingthat last day and saw smoke over the mountains quite a ways to our NE. We had plans to set camp the next day about 70 miles NE at Twin Lakes. We stopped at a trading station for fuel and asked the attendant about the smoke (we had very little to no cell or internet accesd). He advised us of the large forest fire at Twin Lakes. We planned to take the back roads through the mountains and forests to that destination. Had we done so, it would have delivered us right in the thick of the fire. A StarLink would have given us valuable information. We got lucky.

    • @TrailNewbie

      AHAHAH, ya, I know what you mean Mike! I’m viewing a Starlink mini now as a necessity. While the cost of initial purchase is something to overcome, the monthly Roam plan is only $50 which is close to some Inreach plans by Garmin. There’s something to compare there in terms of cost. Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

    Just started my channel, and came across yours. Can I ask what kind of video equipment you use if you don’t already have a video about it? Snow adventuring is the best! Great content!

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Great question!! Well, I actually only use my iPhone 14 PRO MAX to film and edit, and I use a DJI Mavic Air 2 for my drone work. For editing I use the iMovie app on my phone. That’s it..! That’s all someone needs to build a channel. Later, as your channel grows - - perhaps you want to graduate into more specific camera equipment and editing software, but for me - - - this is working well..! Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

    how much taller is your ursa minor compared to your stock hard top? I only have 8 inches to spare if I want to be able to park it in the garage. Love your outdoor desk! has to get you alot of comments when you video conference with people.

      Great question. The additional height of the Ursa Minor vs a normal JL hard top is about 10 inches. Mine fits in my garage, but … barely!! If you need me to measure exactly the height of the top, from where it attaches to the Jeep, let me know. Happy to send you those measurements here. Cheers! Thanks for watching and for the comment! HAHAAH, yep. You’re actually totally correct. What I didn’t show in that snow wheeling part is that there was a bit of a drop off to the passenger side. I was worried about hitting that spot with some speed (at night, and solo). I would have done it in the day light. But couldn’t risk it that evening. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
