Scammers. Amethyst clusters like those don't occur in the California desert. This is a set-up to sell some cheap Brazilian amethyst on their website, call it California amethyst and bump up the value/price. I call BS.
yes this is California where we live and do most our digging and yes amethyst is rare in California but we have dug amethyst at a few different locations around the state. maybe you should do a little more research before leaving such a negative comment
Amethyst defiantly forms in california I have found several clusters in california before. It's a form of quartz which is one of the most common minerals on earth it occurs when quartz is altered by radiation and iron abnormalities so technically it can come from anywhere in the world with those conditions.
