A gentle breeze used to rush in through the train's window. That was an indication that we reached Jatinga. I used to get down to buy oranges and pineapple. I traveled a lot through this route while I was studying in NIT Silchar. It pains to see the condition of the place now, I have lots of fond memories. Thanks for the video.
This old MG Railway Line must be declared as Heritage Line from Railways then more tourist can come easily and view the scenic beauties of this old MG Section.
I was there in halflong & lower halflong in year 2005 and it was the one of the most beautiful place, i have ever seen in india... Not sure how it looks right now, but ur vdo reminds me about my frequent journey from lumding to halflong by Barakh Express😀😀😀😀
missing the metre gauge route deeply...travelled to silchar way back in 2005 and through ur video it looks as if the journey is still live in me without having any pictures as i dont had camera then...the journey moments became alive.
Awesome.Personally still like old MG. Journeyed through this very track for 3 times (up + dn) from Kolkata. But after removal of MG chose to travel by air to Silchar not by BG as it was special with MG.We r surrounded by BG like Howrah, Sealdah, Kolkata stns' trains. But MG! No way. Thnx fr making nostalgic.Thnx to ur team.
It made me so emotional. I used to stay there for several months. Still missing the entire Dima Hasao. Each and every part of the region still alive in my mind. Old Lower Haflong and Old Jatinga railway station were so beautiful.
Very nice vlog. I often recollect those days of travelling from Haflong to Silchar. The wonderful experience of halting in stations for crossing of up and down shuttle train etc. The beauriful bridge near Longrangajao, uff those sweet memories . Jatinga is really a place of sweet breeze , at least we are lucky enough to enjoy travelling on that route. Thanks a lot for sharing.
I spent my childhood days at old jatinga village from 1988 to 1993 where my mother was school teacher at jatinga L.P. school. Still misses those lovely memories & that all time railway engine sound.
When the tracks have been removed? When train stopped here? It is very sad . Government should start again the train line here., you guys please ask do mail, tag on twitter to railway minister Piyush Goyel to start the train journey again 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This is so beautiful. Beautiful place. Beautifully described. Waiting for Haflong Vlogs to come up with a beaitiful song to go with these beautiful landscapes from Haflong.
The railway officials that made the decision to tear up this line are criminals and deserve to be punished as such. Such a beautiful piece of rail history destroyed.
RailScapes - Trains & Travel The Metre Gauge railway was having Sharp Curves which are not allowed in Broad Gauge railway, so while construction of the Broad Gauge railway, these stations are avoided. But The Same train stations are built parallel to the old train stations, at some places 1 to 2 kms. away.
I'm aware but the railways promised to keep the 50 odd KM Haflong hill segment for heritage and local transport but then withdrew the proposal at the last minute. A huge loss for both the locals and history lovers worldwide.
+Haflong Vlogs I've stumbled upon your vlog while searching for Haflong! You're doing nice work and hope it will help promote tourism to your place (excuse me for talking like a tourist, although you're just documenting your hometown)! I will be travelling to Haflong at the end of this month for a short solo trip! Can you suggest some nice things to do in and around Haflong for 1.5 days? Thanks in advance!
Hi Sudipta. Glad that you like the vlogs. Thank you for watching. Well, one and half day is a very short visit but it it's your first visit to Haflong, we will suggest you to check out the town first which you can easily do by walking. The Haflong market, Circuit house, Moulpong watch tower (you can take hire an auto to reach this place to see an aerial view of the town), Synod watch tower. Haflong Lake and the parks surrounding the lake (there are three parks near the lake). If it does not rain we highly suggest going to the Jatinga river for a quick picnic. On the way you can stop at Jatinga village and check out the bird watching tower (but you won't be able to watch the birds during daytime). Let us also know what kind of travelling and exploring you are interested in. If you have time, you can visit some nearby villages too.
Been in Jatinga 18 years ago, saw my friend Bonnison and wish to be there again. Beauty everywhere, just not pleased with the practice of worshiping big trees in India. And the music in the last scenes , whose is it?
Daniel, did you do the background score...that was nice, and even nicer were the intoxicating raw greenery around the Old Jatinga village station...good drone shots!
Hey Bro !! Loved ur video , I am a travel vlogger from Guwahati Asaam and I want to visit Haflong n near by places. Can I seek some help here ?? Please reply

You have revived my nostalgia. I was in Haflong in eighties. Now I am sixty. Thanks.

Childhood memories when I used to travel to my father's workplace by Metre gauge trains

Hope railways restore this railway line and run mg train as heritage route....the route looks so beautiful....besides mg train evokes a unique feeling

This old track must be preserved for posterity. Many such hiking trips may be organised and included in tourism sector.
Amazing! And I just traveled on this very MG track back in Feb 2013. Gives me an eerie feeling to realize that they have ripped out even the tracks.
We will be having a clan's conference at Jatinga on this Jan 17th 2020.
