    I like the 820 - 12..... can't beat the price .... or the reliability of a good Yamaha .
I like that it is Not as "jangy" as a Guild .... but still has what I think is just the right amount of "jangy" output .
I keep looking for a good used 820 - 12 but they have only been on the market for a couple or few years , so i am looking at getting either a
    DW - 12 String or a FG720 - 12 for now .
Which of those two would you recommend ? ?
    Thanks .
P.S. Would love to hear more of you playing that 820 !

I have a 12 string FG. Love it! (Great review BTW). The neck is one of the main reasons I like it (beyond that it sounds really great!). Super easy to play. I’ve hesitated buying guitars that cost 2-3X because they aren’t as comfortable to play as the FG.

Thanks, glad this review is somewhat useful to you! Yes the slim neck and price are really huge plus points haha

You can't go wrong with a Yamaha FG series.
They pretty much all need to be set up due to high action right out of the box...... Saddles are always high.
Replace the factory strings with some D'addario XS model strings
You've got a great guitar at a great price .
However, it doesn't make sense to build a guitar with mahogany back and 12-string combination , when the purpose of a 12-string is to gain that extra volume.... it should definitely be Rosewood back and sides with a spruce top.
    Love the LL16-12 .
    Hate the $ .

Nice job on this review - very helpful. Between your video and some others and trying one in a local music store, I went ahead and bought one. I love it - no regrets at all. But I'm also biased toward Yamaha guitars and own a few others. I agree the action is high straight from the factory, but it's good they do that as it's always easier to lower the action than to raise it up again later. I definitely plan to have a local luthier do a set up for me which should make it more playable. Again, thanks.

A very useful review.. I have very big hands so I think I'll try to get to play one before I buy one... Many thanks for sharing your opinion....

Very great review and nice playing as well!
I'm think about buying this guitar to play Ocean by John Butler which has already been a long project of mine. Do you think it's possible to fingerpick the guitar (I do have pretty small hands and thin fingers) or should I go with a wider fretboard?
    Thanks & greetings from Germany

Thanks for the kind words! Am a fan of John Butler too. It is possible to fingerpick, but I think an instrument with a slightly wider fretboard would be more pleasant.

@@daryltay7768 thank you so much for your answer! Of course nothing is better than trying out but sometimes it’s hard to do when you don’t live in a city.

Can't be any worse than a Rickenbacker 12 string and that's perfectly pickable.

Sweetwater didn't set it up for you?
