Titanium scales are already up for preorder. Supposed to be shipping mid April. I got the polymer MSI and opted for aluminum gunstock like you just got.
I bought some as well but they don’t fit the plain g10 model and he won’t take returns. Super disappointed cuz I was really looking forward to the carbon fiber look
When I first got my full size AD20, it had the digital camo scales. But, as soon as OG had titanium scales up for sale, I grabbed a set, along with a couple of titanium backspacers for my AD20 & AD20.5!
My AD20S in S45VN Sharkfoot was completely transformed by swapping in raw aluminum Original GOAT scales and Skiff bearings - it's my grail knife. They do an incredible job!
I watched Two other TH-camrs swap scales. Neither gave me the details that i needed until I watched this. There's a reason he's successful, and its simple Common Sense! Thanks man
I only have one knife with OG scales. Not only are the scales great, but his customer service is top-notch! If i was rich, I'd have a lot more of their stuff.
Haha, these get more and more fun ti watch every time!! 😆👍🤘 Very glad youre digging them MC. The MSI scales especially came together extremely well and were super happy with them. That pocket clip flat was a must! Its actually got little grooves in it too to help it slide 🤙 Pro tip though! - There's an easier way to get the MSI together. Build everything into the clip side scale like a normal knife, lay it flat on the bench, pop that tab for the clip into te scale, Pull the lock back a little and just wiggle the blade onto the pivot. Then assemble from there. We need to do an assembly video but weve been pretty busy 😅
I ordered some titanium scales the day this video dropped. Shipping date was suppose to be today April 17th. Have you got shipping confirmation? Any updates? I've emailed them, messaged them on FB Messenger and haven't heard anything back.
The one thing I wish I could get from OG is a set of their upcoming gun grip scales, but milled flat where the diamond texturing is. I found a guy in Thailand that does incredible Bruce Shaw style engraving on aluminum scales and was dreaming of sending him a set to go to town on. I asked them if I could get a set like that, but they declined. Cant blame them because theyre about to be crazy busy with that line if LW Manix scales. I cant wait to get a set in the drift type patern with the wavy lines. And if I could find someone to mill the diamond texturing off a set of gun grip scales, someday I may have a gorgeous Bruce Shaw style LW Manix.
Not gonna lie; I paused the video, and I went and got out my ad20s, wondering if the fat scales would fit the slim models. But then I got bummed out later in the video when I realized they deleted the left-handed pocket-clip option on the MSI scales. And then I went to their site and realized they have lefty and Ambi models. They are the GOAT for real.
The AD-20 is my grail knife, and knowing I don't have to score one with titanium scales from Demko is pretty cool. I want titanium scales, but have no problem if they're not OEM Demko. I wish Cold Steel would produce a full size AD-20. They've nailed Demko's designs for years.
It looks like the screw holes for the clip have opposing slots cut into them, so you can just put the screws into the chip partially to hold it in place, rotate the clip onto the screws, and then just tighten them down to lock it all in place
Great video! I didn't expect to be so interested in a scale swap. Thank you for keeping the process in the video, so we can slow it down if we want to. I love the utilitarian, almost brutalist, aesthetic to that blade. Kind of reminds me of Spyderco; with form following function. You know, you could do a video on how you carry, and give your neglected pocket some time in the limelight. 😉
One thing I really wish I could get from OG is LW Manix gun grip scales (when they come out), but flat where the diamond texture is. I found a guy in Thailand that does incredible Bruce Shaw style engraving on aluminum, but I contacted them and they declined. Cant blame them because theyre about to be insanely busy, and I absolutely look forward to getting a set of those LW Manix scales as soon as they drop anyway. They have one with wavy lines like their drift pattern that looks amazing.

When I get mine I'm gonna try replacing the scales one at a time without removing the blade using my axis lock pivot removal tool. I found a cheap aluminum one on Amazon for &10.
Original Goat is awesome! There customer service is amazing & there products are absolutely perfect. Seriously you can't go wrong with anything from them
Just got a notice from OG today telling me my version of the MSI that has a 1/4" Ram loc button will be delayed. Apparently Microtech produced to versions of the MSI, one with a 1/4" wide button and one with at .302" wide button.
Just got a 2024 msi polymer 2 tone blade up here in Canada today and was pretty happy with it until I saw this video hahaha I need em....I need those scales
I just ordered the the exact same MSI scales first. Then bought the polymer version MSI with same apocolyptic finish 😂. The stone grey matches my grip module perfect on my P365
I agree, bring the AD20 back as a semi-affordable production knife. The AD20.5 is both undersized and oversized at the same time to me, mostly due to the thickness but short blade. Kind of a little chode of a knife
Bro I think the MSI scales he just put on are titanium cause I'm not seeing that finish for the aluminum ones??? What am I missing here? Unless they made those aluminum scales special for MC. I think he already has the titanium ones. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
@@catherinecrumb1595 Ahhh that makes sense!! But that option isn't available to the public is it?Okay disregard my earlier comments. Well I just bought the titanium scales because I thought he had the titanium ones lol Thank you for correcting me cause I'm wrong lol
Awesome video!! Would you like to showcase my Ti scales for the Stitch? Also have them for MSI, but i think you got that covered with the very nice OG scales. Stay safe.
I must be the only person that thinks the Frn scales match the look of this particular knife better than g10, aluminum, or titanium. I see this knife as a user and a beater, and just like a cold steel voyager would look odd with titanium, the titanium on the MSI looks out of place to me.
Has anyone told MC the secret to installing the pocket clip? I don't have one yet, but from the looks of the clip...turn the clip 90° so it sits horizontal to the knife, start both screws but just enough so they stay up, twist the pocket clip so the holes slip on the screws and under the screw heads, tighten and you are done.
It looks like that would work, but it won't. I have one, and if you try to start them that way, it just doesn't line up quite right for some reason. Not sure why they even have a groove in the side. It definitely throws you off when trying to put it back on.
All out of stock.... I can buy the orange handle and buy the scales. Best part, orange handles are cheaper. WRONG! $80 more. Derp. Side note: It would have been even more epic if you used the end of 1812 Overture playing over the dismantle/reassemble section. "0_o"

Got a set of carbon fiber scales for my MSI from Australia. Very happy with them
I did the exact same thing they feel and fit perfectly.

MSI scales sweet but those blue scales are absolute fire. OG scales just completely transformed my ad 20.5.
"You bet your sweet little buns I am." 😂
just ordered a set of aluminum scales for my MSI, cant wait to see how they turn out!!

It looks like they offer: Phresh, Stoned and Blasted finishes. What finish was on these particular scales?
I believe it was Stoned, custom color Tungsten

Sweet shiny things! That is officially the coolest pocket knife I have ever seen. So happy for you MC!
The weight with g10 is 5.4, so those scales don't really add anything much at all

I’m surprised they don’t do the sharks foot on the full size ad20. Unless they do, and I just haven’t seen them.

What is the coating on those scales? I want to preorder some like that, but I don't know what finish it is
It looks like the screw holes for the clip have opposing slots cut into them, so you can just put the screws into the chip partially to hold it in place, rotate the clip onto the screws, and then just tighten them down to lock it all in place
Is that the stone gray ceramic coating you have on your scales? Because I’m definitely copying the ones you got!

Curious what finish is that MC? It does not looked like either the Buff or Stoned finish on OG's website. Is that one of the colored coatings?

I like that gunmetal color for the scales but I don't see it on OG site.
Just pre-ordered mine, don't even have the knife yet. Now I'm waiting for the stitch scale

Put the clip on when you have the scales off
Honestly they took so long to even come put with preorders so I ended up going with some custom G10 scales and they are absolutely stunning.
Anyone know what color coating this is? I’ve watched twice and didn’t hear it mentioned. I may have just missed it.
Sick music in the montage MC. Very nice - all MSI out of stock. But It'll have to be one of my first USA blades when they're back in
Congrats on the new home/studio. Love your content!
My MSI is getting the OG1 Scales like the blue Demko and Skiff bearings. The wait will be worth it.
Got some titanium gun metal scales on pre-order! Can't wait to put them in and start carrying my MSI again!
Finally just got mine for the MSI, looks amazing

What color are those scales coated with?
I got some GOAT scales for my Deka and you aren't kidding, it really makes it a different knife.
What finish is on the MSI scales? Stoned or blasted?
Hey! First one got no hole! I share your enthusiasm

how much for your old g10 scales?

MC,, what are gonna do with the original frag scales you took off ??! I’d be interested 😜
I have an older gen MSI. Does that mean I’d have to get a whole new one if I want to mount a pair of these?
I just finally got my Metonboss scale in today! my first time buying scales for a knife, been looking at OG too
I just ordered the the exact same MSI scales first. Then bought the polymer version MSI with same apocolyptic finish 😂. The stone grey matches my grip module perfect on my P365
I have the polymer. I'm thinking about upgrading to G10.
The MSI looks great with that colour way for sure.
MSI with a 4.5" blade is the upgrade I'm holding out for.
I agree, bring the AD20 back as a semi-affordable production knife. The AD20.5 is both undersized and oversized at the same time to me, mostly due to the thickness but short blade. Kind of a little chode of a knife
I have Original Goat scales on my AD 20.5, and I've ordered them for my MSI
The Blue scales trick your brain and automatically make you think...
This one is lighter! 😆
I knew these would be out soon. And my MSI is ready for its upgrade !
I got the msi with the g10 scales and I'm very pleased with the way it feels. Still those scales look great though.
I got an ad20 with the thumb studs. I freaking love that thing!
This is perfectly timed! I have the MSI scales in my cart.
Can you please release a normal speed version of the disassembly? This knife is a bigger nightmare than any other I’ve ever tried to disassemble!

I was wondering the same thing. Does not match what is on OG page.
@@arikentin1172 Him saying he will be first in line to get the titanium ones is wild. Come on MC!!
Those are aluminum but are custom coated in Tungsten H-237 is the cerakote color code.

I have the pineapple scales on my AD 20 S. Love them. Feels so grippy.
Could feel lighter because it's more blade heavy (no cutout removing material from blade).
Where did you get these?!!!!
Those scales are awesome. Thanks MC
Cool tune for the sped up section
I'm ready for them to make stitch scales especially since they got titanium for the MSI already
idknives showed his cf / micarta + inlay aftermarket scales for the MSI three or four months ago. 🤷🏻♂️
Been waiting for months for them to get the brass scales back in stock. I've had an AD20.5 just screaming for an upgrade.
Awesome video!! Would you like to showcase my Ti scales for the Stitch? Also have them for MSI, but i think you got that covered with the very nice OG scales. Stay safe.
I like the gun stock texture, i ordered the ones for the LW manix 2.
Care to sell your frag scales?? I have looked everywhere for a set!
I might be crazy but I love the G10 on the AD20. Just scored the magnacut spearpoint version for my 3rd!
The original goat AD20 is heavier cause it has no slot!
Next please some metal scales for the RAM lock stitch ❤
Imagine wearing that AD with gym shorts
So nice, but I saw ZERO options for left handed carry scales on the OG site :(
The MSI looks awesome!
I hope Microtech makes these with a different blade shape eventually
can u put the clip on b4 puting it back together?
Yes
@@metal_complex thanks! unlike my wallet i love ur videos!
I’ve been hoping Microtech would come out with an aluminum Msi. But they haven’t so I might just get these!
Yes!! We do need a production ad20 tell ‘em dude 😂
