    Siddaramaiah Tuesday first approved and then held back a draft law reserving 50% of managerial jobs and 70% of non-managerial jobs in the private sector for Kannadigas, with clauses for nodal officers to verify their language skills. In Episode 1483 of Cut The Clutter, Editor-in-Chief @Shekhar Gupta discusses its drawbacks and why it can be challenged like a similar law in Haryana.

      Congress may be a national party but it is still a divisive party. They have sown the seeds of discord with this - Now, a new party will emerge promoting this idea & Congress will become their ally to hold on to power. This is exactly what they did in TN!

      The slow transition away from agricultural employment has witnessed a reversal after 2019, with a decline in manufacturing.
      8 crore employment RBI data, includes the rise in "unpaid" workers like housewives & the people going back to agriculture.
      India's manufacturing sector has shrunk from 17% in 2010 to 11% in 2023 due to rising cost of inflation. Firms are not seeing domestic demand to increase their capacity.
      Meanwhile, Company 'A' hides black money in shell companies in the Cayman Islands. India's unemployment data is from CMIE:
      2024 (6 months) = 9.2 percent
      2023 = 8 percent
      2022 = 7.33 percent
      2021 = 6 percent

      Exactly. This election only clearly showed that private sector reservation is not far behind. Irrespective of any party, "Jitne abadi uttna hakk" would be done in every sector to win elections. Eventually, when political parties run out of ideas to win elections, caste based reservation will seep into the private sector. It's just the question of when this will happen.

Also while north India is poorer than south India, it also saves south India from China and Pakistan. Look at it like that. Point is the whole country sticks together. Peak "bharat jodo" move by congress.....

  • @shashank.c
    @shashank.c หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Based on what research did the Congress bring this bill?
    1. How many people are required to fill 70% positions and are there so many Kannada speaking skilled workers in Karnataka who can fill in the 70% quota (Kannada may not be the mother-tongue of people from some districts in Karnataka)?
    2. The bill proposes training local Kannadigas to fill those positions within the next three years. Do they have any data on how many openings are there and how did they decide that 3 years would be sufficient for this?
    3. For perspective, an engineering degree takes 4 years to complete but the real training starts after the graduate joins the industry.
    4. What would be the impact on non-Kannadiga workforce already in those companies? Would the industries have to force them out? Answer seems obvious, but do they have any data on how many people would lose their jobs and how the Karnataka government would compensate them?
    5. Most important of all, what are the governement's plans to encourage industrial growth in Karnataka? Any state has limited population of skilled workers. If the state encourages industries, then it attracts people from other states as well. Limiting participation of people from outside the state severely limits the number of companies that can be built in the state unless the state has a way to keep producing skilled workers that can sustain the growth rate.
    6. Lastly, how much is this going to cost Karnataka? What would be the consequences if these companies decide to move out of the state? Is any study done on that?
    Probably, this is just a gimmick to divert people's attention from the corruption allegations on the CM, but if they are serious then the seriousness should reflect in the bill.

    It is toxic when viewed from 1000 ft feet. I have spent 30yrs in industrty. I have seen the nepotism from close distance. A manager from x place comes and goes to campus interview for his/her native and floods the people from
    their place. If everyone is playing fair then we do not need such draconian laws. Sometime I wonder, man Yogi must have built much better education institutions in UP, so we have floor full of people from UP. Good job Yogi :-)
    Nepotism is in Indian dna and that is toxic. They take it where ever they go. I have worked in US for 18yrs, and same story there. Indian from x place comes and she/he tends to hire their own people. These companies had fair hiring proces. We just corrupted it with our nepotism.

      Such practices could not have been a policy decision by the companies but practiced by corrupt hiring managers. Is this good for the company? Companies where nepotism is prevalent would eventually cease to exist. Same effect would be observed with such laws. The difference is that companies who want to survive can take active measures against nepotism but won't be able to do anything if it is the law of the land.

Private companies are not here to do charity work and are here to make profits. Shekhar Ji is saying that "this is coming from the government of a party that abolished the licence raj." Sir ji, it is the same party that brought the licence raj and had to abolish it when India was on the verge of begging bowls. The major point you are missing in this episode is how you ignore the Congress party's present economic policy. You whitewashed Congress in the beginning and then repeated it at the end by saying that even BJP will vote for this in the assembly. But doesn't that make BJP equally culpable for this destructive political direction of Congress? This is a greater problem and is going to cost the development of our country. At least you should have remembered that it was not the policy of BJP, a party whose national budget just before the general elections didn't have freebie offers. I am a common earning man, and I am paying approximately 30% of my earnings to run this country in the name of sales tax , income tax and other charges / fees . These freebies and politically motivated reservations are at the cost of my money. I don't get any reservation. Having said this, I am not against the reservation for the SC/ST population; my grudge is against these types of destructive politics played by Congress. This will force BJP also to move into such freebie politics, which is not their mistake but a wrong precedence set by a power-hungry Congress. At this point, I request Shekar Ji to make a national interest episode on the election offers of Congress, the money they offered to youth, ladies, etc., as free and the amount of money required to fulfill it and how it was a fraud. Even if Congress wanted to give it, the government wouldn't have sufficient money. Also, how a freebie Congress government in Karnataka has started to load the common man with price hikes just after a year of its rule. True journalists should save this country from half-informed sources like Dhruv Rathee.🙏

    What is happening now is not an outcome of some concern for Kannada identity. I believe people are genuinely concerned with their livelihood and survival which politicians understood and acted politically. This issue will arise in every state. That's how Silicon Valley (US) was built.
    Places like Tokyo and Seoul are made Japanese and Koreans respectively, but look at their education level and talent pool.
    Can the people of Karnataka claim that Karnataka's talent pool is strong enough to build a silicon valley? Ask your government to educate your people and schools first, maybe then you'll have a chance, otherwise you or any place in India will need talented people from the whole of India to build a silicon valley or any kind of "hub" for that matter, whether it's arts, music, fashion, education and so on.
