    Ha! I built a getaway in Oceanside and learned more in this 10 min video about Bayocean access than any literature I could find. Thanks!

    Great little video! I live in Cannon Beach and fish the north jetty. I wistfully look at the south jetty, but that's a LONG extra haul, so it was fun to watch this. I was not aware of the 5 mile hike! A couple of factoids you might enjoy. First, I suspect the "small lingcod" you were catching in the surf were actually sculpin (which is in the same family as cabezon). Second, while the north jetty was started during WWI, the south jetty was started in 1969, which was a huge surprise to me. But I just learned that during WW1, two jetties were deemed too expensive, so just one was built. And this decision, I believe ultimately led to the demise of Bayocean!

    Very nicely put together video. I fish at several of those locations. And as for that hike. It is in fact better on a bike. My wife and I used to ride our beach cruiser bikes out there and fish.

      Thanks. And we plan to get a bike rack for our vehicle to ride bikes the next time. We feel the Hike although mostly flat took up a lot of the time we could have been fishing!

    3:20.....Those "Little tiny four inch lingcod'' that you were getting off the beach side....aren't lingcod at all.....they are Pacific Staghorn Sculpin. Adults approach 6" to 7"....They are very common in the surf zone.

      Never said they were lingcod . If you look up black Rockfish is what the look like.

    Great video. I was just wondering if you knew the rod you were using was a bait casting rod. Not setup for a spinning reel. It's much more comfortable using the correct rod for the reel.

      @BroadheadsAndBobbers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't know that. We are in no way experts.Itcseens to work good for me. I would like to try a bait caster sometime though.

      Actually i looked it up the okuma sst is a salmon steelhead spinning rod

    • @townsend96
      @townsend96 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BroadheadsAndBobbers the sst model makes both spinning and casting. Okuma rods label will tell you after it say sst s or c. The s stands for spinning and the c stands for casting. On your video the trigger grip is pointing up. Its suppost to be down(for a casting reel). You can also tell by the first guide is small. Normally a spinning rods first guide is much larger.
