Just sensational!! I was 21 yrs old when this song came to Montreal, & shall never forget it. Sadly I couldn't go, being from Liverpool (UK), yet watching them was just a dream for me! 💖💖💖
I consider Freddie Mercury to be the GOAT of rock frontmen!! I was lucky enough to see Queen in 1976 (A Night at the Opera) and 1977 (A Day at the Races) tours!! I was 16 and 17, respectively, and even 45/46 years later, I can still see them and especially Freddie Mercury!! What a loss....
Really hope you saw the IMAX QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL CONCERT that hit theaters Jan.28-21. Absolutely glorious! Right before this song was PLAY THE GAME - and if that was the original lineup for those 2 concerts used in filming, WoW (I read 1-2 songs were pulled).
Thanks, Kids! Somebody to Love is pretty much my favorite song.. Justin, I'm a bit surprised not to hear a stronger opinion on this, based on the fact that you know the studio version... Anyway, look forward to more from you both...
God, yes! Montreal '81 is legendary. One of those truly magical performances. So great. Sadly, people sometimes focus on Freddie to the exclusion of everyone else in the band, much like they tend to do with Steve Perry and Journey. That said, he demanded - and still commands - that kind of attention. Someone like Mercury only comes along every once in a great, long while. The guy was an anomaly - a once in a lifetime performer. It was like he was born to move millions.
@@robshaw2639 i hope that he is! I’ve found (in some cases) that people are all about Freddie and no one else in the band. It heartens me that you have observed otherwise. Brian deserves to be worshipped.
I totally agree. I saw them on this tour, from the Game album, at Madison Square Garden in September 1980. The older stuff was great, but songs from the new album was amazing. One of my favorites was "Save Me" I think it was the last track of the record.
But it is the Four of Them that makes magic . They are so tight - and it is easy to overlook John and Roger , but tale another listen - Rogers drumming and singing is second to none and the bass is the part that holds it all together. It’s a group of Four geniouses . And the best band of all times with Bestles second an Stones Third . Sorry my phone tries to speak danish !
@@anne-mariesindruprix4792 yes, that is kind of what I was saying. It is the four of them who are equally responsible for the magic. They are all exceptional individually, but what they create together is far beyond the capabilities of each of them as individuals (again, greater than the sum of their parts).
If you have not already done so, you should review the live performance of Who Wants to Live Forever from their concert in Budapest...it is phenomenal. And, don't miss The Show Must Go On which was recorded when Freddie was very ill...it will blow you away.
Queen is best live but their recordings are great too. Songs to check: You Take My Breath Away live in Hyde Park 1976, Bohemian Rhapsody official video, I Want it all, Killer Queen, Love of my life live in RIO, White Queen live at Hammersmith, Live Aid performance 1986, Save Me. Those are just a few of this phenomenal band with Freddie Mercury the best rock lead singer in history. Go down the rabbit hole. You won’t be sorry!
If you want a slightly deeper cut - live - check out Stone Cold Crazy live at The Rainbow (from, I think, '74). Quick, hot track - almost like proto-thrash.
Great song, great showman. As a music lover, and at 55 yrs old I am lucky enough to have grown up listening to great artists like Queen, Yes, Genesis, Rush, Dire Straits, Journey, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac... I could go on. Without recordings young people today would have NO IDEA what real musicianship is.
Camilla kept me guessing as there was no reaction till a tiny smile appeared right before the end...Technically Freddie could be the first SE Asian lead singer front man of a rock band. Born in Zanzibar to Parsi parents, attending boarding school in Mumbai India and moving to London in his late teens with his family. Anyway you look at Queen, they were an eclectic electric combo of musicians and songwriters!
Great reaction! So glad Camilla liked it! He was such a great performer!! Want to shout out to Camilla for reacting to Tom MacDonald the other day!! She did a great job! It kinda put her in a position where she didn’t know what to say so she turned the camera off, collected her thoughts and she bravely came back and gave her opinion! Way to go, Camilla! Be well and God bless… from Texas!
Okay, to start Justin wasn't even born when this song was written. That said here's my experience with Queen. I saw them at Madison Square Garden in 1980 on this tour, and again there in 1982. Any song from this show, old or new is amazing. My favorite was "Save Me". They were the best concerts I'd ever been to. I've also seen Heart, Styx, Billy Squier, Brian Adams, Journey, Springsteen and Southside Johnny as well.
You could remember every other Queen song but you didn't remember the one that everybody immediately associates with Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody. 😆 You should also react to the version of this song sung by George Michael at Freddy Mercury's memorial concert and compare the two. Goosebumps guaranteed!
Somebody To Love was written by Freddie, Queen very rarely sang songs that wasn't written by one of them. When you were mentioning famous Queen songs I'm shocked you didn't say "Bohemian Rhapsody".
Listen to White Queen live at the Odeon He has an interesting facial structure because he is a Parsi Indian whose real name is Farokh Balsara and had xtra teeth which is why his front teeth are Buck. He lived in Zanzibar Africa which was an English protectorate. He went to an English boarding school when he was 7 and almost never saw his family. After he moved back home when he was about 16 there was a civil war so they left and moved to London where he went to an arts college. They all have degrees and Brian has a PhD in astrophysics. They were all very talented musicians and played multiple instruments. We all miss Freddie so much.
If you haven't seen much of Queen live, you're missing out. They are arguably the best live band ever. Freddie is on a whole different level live. Check out Queen's Under Pressure live at Wembley 1986, Saturday performance.
the first thing I look for in reaction videos is Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Please do this song since I love the looks on people's faces when the song progresses. Thank you.
the entire of Montreal 81 and Wembley 86 concert DVD's are all solid Queen Hits. Don't expect to get a copycat performance of the studio albums, either
“Arguably” means there’s a question about who’s the best. There’s no question, Freddie is the best there is, the best there was and the there ever will be!
You are not crazy. There is a song called 'Somebody to Love' & you nailed it. It was released in February 1967 and preformed by 'Jefferson Airplane' which would later morph into 'Jefferson Starship' & then I believe finally 'Starship'... & Jefferson Airplane's lead singer was Grace Slick. & You started singing it. Well done!
Great reaction. Live queen is always a treat. Their Live Aid performance is one of the most famous ones to watch. I’m curious how much Justin has listened to their first couple albums as it’s different from their more famous songs. Songs like Liar, Ogre Battle or Seven Seas of Rye.
Nice to see them do an early one. I remember being in like 4th or 5th grade when "Killer Queen" came out. Those were great years for good pop-rock music. Queen, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac... *sigh* But yeah, Freddy Mercury was a one-off (with considerable help from Roger Taylor.)
Arguably one of the best voices???? Um, no. It’s entirely safe to say that Freddie Mercury had one of the best voices ever….in my view, that statement is way beyond arguable.
OK todays musicians I hope your listening...there is nothing you can say against this stuff. Freddie and his crew were amazing...Brian May had such a wicked sound...so freaking good. That's it just move back and forth and enjoy the ride.
Have you reacted to Bohemia Rhapsody by Queen yet? If not, it's an EPIC song, and the Acapella group PENTATONIX did an amazing cover of both songs... May be very surprised... jus'sayin
Guys,of course we know queen who doesn't know queen something is wrong with him and every one who thinks he knows what great music means he 's got to know queen simply perfection there will never be anyone like freddie mercury all bands have frontmen but none will ever be fredfie's level he is unique angel voice and all the other members are very talented all 4 song writers if you continue queen reaction you will become a fan for sure isee this all the time happening live performances guys thanks ❣️💔💯
hard to comprehend just how GREAT this actually was... this is way before Auto tune Which every group and singer has used since it was created(which is why All music since then sounds like shit live) this was live and the pure raw talent that was Queen no other group ever sounded this good live many people say and think they sounded better live than in a studio...
Queen is one of the legends, so is Freddy. Here's a good one for you guys. I'll take Bonham over Peart. And yes I think Mercury was the greatest rock vocalist in history. Cornell being my favorite tho also. And right behind him with Plant
The man lived life to the fullest in his 45 years on earth. Born with a god given gift we get to enjoy for generations. RIP Freddie. ❤🔥

Day-O
Yeah sure, and Darth Vader is piggybacking Freddie Mercury 🧐😜
Absolutely no one here would agree with “arguably” … Freddie is G.O.A.T
Yep!! The undisputed GOAT!! Nobody comes close!!!
YES!!!!!
he was the best front man.......EVER,no agrument
Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara in Zanzibar on Sept 5 1946 died Nov 24 1991!! IMHO the GREATEST rock band frontman of ALL time!!
Queens live aid 1985 performance.
"Save me " from Montreal 1981
Who Wants to Live Forever, live will amaze you.
Good ffs it's legendary along with there live aid concert probably the greatest performance in history
The year I was born. And month. One of the best performances in history. No dam auto tune. Just pure talent. Live
Just sensational!! I was 21 yrs old when this song came to Montreal, & shall never forget it. Sadly I couldn't go, being from Liverpool (UK), yet watching them was just a dream for me! 💖💖💖
Awesome !! I subbed bc you didn’t interrupt the GOAT🥰✌🏼

Yeah I've been into Queen for decades especially '70s Queen
Anything from their 1981 Montreal concert is awesome!!!
I'm not even a huge _Queen_ fan, it's just so tight!!! 🤘

This particular performance is sometimes called the "perfect concert", for good reason.
Just love this song.
Instant mood booster.
Even when it's someone else doing a cover.
Great reaction.

Queen 👍
