    Suzaku contradicts himself without knowing while lelouch tends to keep lying just to hide his real thoughts and ideals. Yeah the dynamics of those two are really at polar opposites but they still look the same

    Suzaku, I feel, is just a face for the values of ignorant hypocrisy. Not ignorant as in just not knowing, but ignorant as in being fully aware of what you’re doing but being unbeknownst to your emotions and morals in the sense. I feel Suzaku is one of the most misunderstood and hated character in the series. He has a very strong sense of morals, sure, but in most of the scenarios he was thrown into in the show, his sense of morals kind of ended up being a roulette wheel of what Suzaku himself believes to be right. His whole character is just a face for the idealistic and naive (for lack of a better term) view points of war. He thinks being able to change things from the inside of an organization will also benefit the people on the outside, but he also realizes that in order to do that, he needs to help in “hurting” the people he’s trying to help. It’s almost like he was trapped in a locked room with his morals and values with no way of escaping and therefore thinks that he is on the right side of spectrum whilst being affiliated with the wrong side. If this was any other mecha anime, then Suzaku would be the protagonist. His ideals and personality and goals are very much similar to many other mecha protagonists we’ve all seen before. So in a way, his characters is both a satire and an eye-opening reality to main characters who think they’re in the right and end up romanticizing the whole situation they’ve been thrown into.

    Technically back then, Suzaku didn't hold any ideals (neither deontology or consequentialism) when he killed his father he was just desperate.
    Also the invasion of Japan made me hate Charles zi Britannia even more, because why? Why would you wage war on a nation where you exiled your own children?!
    Lelouch's life was meant to be a shield to the lives of Japan. None of the tragedies and Suzaku would've never been put in such burdening position with his father had Lelouch's gave a damn about him.

    "Why is a guy that is so against killing kill his own father?" Well he wasn't the guy who really hated killing at that point. He was just a child. The guy that is so against killing comes from that event. So it doesn't really makes sense to question why child Suzaku killed his father with that argument.
    Those values he has as an adult and through most of the show is from that event. So calling him inconsistent from that is isn't valid.
    I saw in an other video discussing Lelouch and Suzaku. That Suzaku's philosophy as a child was; killing his father to save more people that would die a meaningless death. However he felt so bad and was so scared and traumatized by this act (That he still feels is the right choice.) That he couldn't stand thinking about it in another way that how much he hated it. He of course hates the fact he killed his father. So a phycological trigger happened in him that is called reaction theory. Which basically means that you form a new personality/ideals that is the opposite of what you truly feels. Perfect example in the real world is homophobes that turn out to be gay.
    You can check out the video for yourself it's super good but long. It's called The Dynamics of Lelouch and Suzaku and the part I'm talking about starts at 25:17

    One thing you are kinda glossing over is that Suzaku's 17 year old philosophy is the same as his 10 year old self, which is kind of a silly thing to imply as Suzaku would have no reason to have such a philosophy at that age, it is more likely that Suzaku's murder of his father is the basis of why he doesn't commit murders and tries to not kill

    • @socksensei
      @socksensei  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is a core factor but you also have to take into account what drove him to kill his father at the time, and what dilemma led him to hold onto and attempt to justify his actions both past, present and future.

    The soldiers at the Euphy masscre already wanted to masscre the japanese, but they dared not disobey their princess. but when it seemed she wanted them to, they didn't question it at all, outside a couple people who knew the princess better.

    • @shanz7758
      @shanz7758 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I kind of disagree. Euphy has to fire at a japanese for the soldiers to begin firing, and honestly, at this point, when the first blood has been shed, you could almost say that the mob could riot and try and attack the princess. As soon as Euphy fires and kills an innocent man, innocence and peace is gone. She actually has to go to this length, and has repeated the order to kill all japanese multiple times. A general of the empire, Darlton, even counter orders her order, orders for the broadcasts to be stopped etc...
      Honestly, I don't think the soldiers were that eager to massacre people. If they were, they would begin firing the second Euphemia orders them to, but they don't. I think what we have to take into account, is that Britannians are humans. They might be prejudiced, even racists and thinks themselves as better than the japanese, but it doesn't mean that all of them are crazed genocidal monsters. For the most part, they just obey orders from their generals/royal family.
      Let's be honest here, the black knights, when attacking the order of the geass and killing everyone, who are civilians and have no weapon to fight back, are questionning the orders of Lelouch, BUT they are carrying it anyway. Just because we don't see knightmare pilots have the same questions about the rightness of their crimes doesn't mean all Britannian soldiers, nobles and knighmare pilots want to kill everyone just because they aren't Britannians. Maybe they think they don't know everything, maybe they think it is a necessary evil to destroy the japanese resistance, which they probably think of as terrorists. And by the way, they actually kind of are. The fact that the JLF takes people, mostly adolescents by the way, hostages, and even kill a poor civilian by throwing him from the roof, shows that the japanese rebels cause acts of terrorism. I'm not saying I don't understand WHY the japanese rebels resort to terrorism, but the facts are, JLF are killing innocent Britannians too, so their hands are not free of blood either, and you could argue that Britannian soldiers could just see themselves when killing those civilians as protectors of their people.

    I thought after he killed his father was when he decided you had to work from inside the system. Through this video, you implied that Suzaku's philosophy remain consistent. But it didn't, It changed. If we consider what happened, with the prime minster's death leading Japan to be turn into a sector with little rights - Everything that happened to Japan is directly Suzaku's fault. That Suzaku's desire to save people as a kid led to more death.
    Suzaku knows what he did to his father and to Japan was wrong. Which is why he hates himself and has a death wish. He didn't turn a blind eye to what was happening to his people, he just wasn't going to step out of line and rebel. He did a miniature rebellion with his dad, it didn't yield good results.
    Also, I don't think he has an undying faith that change can happen from the inside - he just reject change from the outside, believing any change caused from the outside isn't worth anything - with his dad being the reason.
    His ideals weren't realistic, but he secretly has a death wish, which was taken away from him due to Geass.

Somehow I find it hard to believe you're currently plotting the downfall of the american government despite it also currently doing genocide and racism. I can't control where I'm born and what they've do or have done, I'm but a lone civilian. I find your point about genocide and racism a bit on the extreme end, can you back that claim with actual evidence? That's not to say America hasn't done that, it has, but from what I know they are not currently committing it. Anyway just because someone lives in a country doesn't mean they are a patriot for what they've done in the past or what they do, and overthrowing a government is bloody and unnecessary when there's still the option to change it from the inside, it's just a matter of when they cross that line it becomes a realistic option.
