BRMC is one of those bands (along with Elliott Smith, DFA 1979, Cat Power, Franz Ferdinand, etc.) that I quote when I find myself in front of some dude at a party who plays it all like "Mah, there's never been any good music after the 70's". Well, he can take that one.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club cerrando el domingo y Bloc Party cerrando el festival el Lunes. Viva Rock al Parque, Viva Bogotá, Viva Colombia y que viva el RoCKaNdRolL hp!! Well see you on sunday!!!!
The bassist is playing both a bass line and a melodic tasty lead to nicely fill the harmonic palate. Listen to when he plays up the neck. It's really nice. And his bass is overdriving his tube amp, getting a nice mild distortion that that bass can produce and still sound like a bass. Most basses lose their bottom when distorted, but, the vintage 1960's Gibson EB2 with its monster neck pickup doesn't lose its bottom.
I always dismissed BRMC for some reason. I don't know why. I kind of just lumped them in with all the new-indie rock crap that was coming out in the early 2000's and never cared to listen to them. Then came Southland Tales. I got the soundtrack for all those Moby instrumentals, and found this song on there. Still, for a good 6 months, never listened to it. Then I threw this on a mix randomly last week and fucking fell in love. There's magic happening between the notes, yo.
@miguelmendez92 I also know a lot of people who are still obsessed the the Backstreet Boys, they know all their personal lives and know all of the lyrics. I mean those people are dedicated and that's impressive. That's what I mean by the line being blurred.
This song is a fkn masterpiece. Lyrics are so damn simple and meaningful and the music is wow. Its almost like a religious song. I want to find the original 6:20 version of this song. I wonder if they have any more songs like this?
Yes it did kill me. I'm very jealous you got to see two amazing bands, but happy that you got to enjoy fantastic music. What concert did you go to? I hear QOTSA just fills the room with energy and everyone is jumping up and down and just having a hell of a time. You're a fan of Interpol? They're geniuses and their music is one of the greatest. Just the way Paul sings can take you away.
You are so lucky!! I want to see them so bad. I did hear that they will be touring again next year. So I'll be buying tickets. Do you live in London or did you make the trip to go see them? They are one of the best bands, I also want to go and see Interpol and QOTSA
@miguelmendez92 I don't think he's feeding his ego. I'm sure there are people who listen to top 40 stuff who really get into it but the fact is they come and go. That's the nature of POPULAR music. BRMC fans don't dump the band when some new hot Indie shit comes along. And of course there's no line seperating the two points, there's some blur but overall I'd say people who listen to this are more vested in the experience of the music.
stop hating on STP! they were a great great band, as is BRMC, i dont think they're comparable at all though, different music, who on here has never heard of STP? you guys need a lesson if you've never heard of them
@miguelmendez92 It's not music to hum along to when you work out or to make the commute seem shorter, it's armchair, relaxing and dissecting lyrics music.
Why are so many people Scientologists? does that make them all right? I didn't think I'd need to equip myself with 'backup' when I clearly stated this was a subjective issue. Britney Spears is famous she must be a genius, a real Syd Barrett. I could go on, but I expect you to interject with a 'fuck you man, what the fuck do you listen to!?' about now...
Honestly I can't fathom why they would be paired with STP... I don't hear the connection. It's like when The Flaming Lips toured with Candlebox... Honestly, while it may be your opinion that STP is better than BRMC one cannot deny that BRMC are better writers and overall better musicians (namely guitarists and bassists).
uhhhhh the DeLeo brothers i would say are probably better musicians while I still like BRMC usually their stuff is pretty basic while STP's is usually a little more out there and a litle more complex
why can´t anybody be into both directions?!? numetal wasn´t always funny, but there are some good bits...but i love BRMC too - so where´s the problem? both bands got great tunes, that´s how i see it...
I saw them both last night. And yes STP puts on a better show. These guys are good, but a frontman like Scott gets people going. ..makes for a better show.
how could these guys possibly be better than stp??? i really liked this band when i saw stp live and they were the openers, but stp have been around longer and have soo many more hits than these guys. you guys have the right to your own opinion, but mine is stp is wayyy better...
exactly! I take BRMC's Howl as one of the best albuns from the 00's. And still nobody talks about it.
i can never get over this song.
Great bass playing and singing. Wonderful song too.
One of many favorites
I lover Robert and his bass playing so much...
Listening to headphones, his sound is so incredible.
Awesome!
Greetings from Iquitos, Perú.
15y ago. Hot damn, where'd the time go? & They're still amazing.
🎇
i love every single song of them, they're amazing!! this is real music!!
OMG they came to Portland and I missed it. Hopefully in 2010 they hit us up again
May 2007 at the Roseland. was a good show.
Excellent song. One of those that get you straight to the heart!!
Doesnt' matter if if it hurts... Cos "I see the road it's long"
The ending makes me cry.
Me too dude😩
that drum kit sounds so clean and good i want it
woe... this music is... like soaring on a high painted in watercolor
I hope these guys become much bigger in the future, they seem to be one of the few bands actually producing great music.
They never did
@@vg4life That's alright; way cooler being a bit underground.
Great Song...Makes ya want to cry.

Well, he can take that one.
they're one of the best live performers today.
GOD! I'm an adict to this song, i just love it!
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club cerrando el domingo y Bloc Party cerrando el festival el Lunes. Viva Rock al Parque, Viva Bogotá, Viva Colombia y que viva el RoCKaNdRolL hp!! Well see you on sunday!!!!
this is from southland tales!!
Wow they're a great live band.
I thought they would have a hard time pulling this on of live but it just felt effortless
My head is a spinning ah ah ah, like their sound it's great.
HOWL is best album ever.
ma quel grande bel uomo di peter hayes suona tutto! oltre a essere stupendo è anche un grande musicista :D
wooo great song, can't wait for the southside festival.
Nice one - thanks guys.
brilliant track!
great song!

Sounds better than the album version this.
i love this song
thanks a lot!!!!!
such a great song,
@nugbutt Peter Hayes was in this band. the guitarist
correction, Jack White looks like Peter Hayes, who both look like Syd Barret
@miguelmendez92 I also know a lot of people who are still obsessed the the Backstreet Boys, they know all their personal lives and know all of the lyrics. I mean those people are dedicated and that's impressive. That's what I mean by the line being blurred.
because of his solo project getting in the way.
no puede ser tan linda esta cancion...
my favourite

vg4life mercy
There are several songs from the album of the same name that have religious overtones. It’s almost gospely.

The first one, BRMC, & third one ,Howl.
Only just descovered these properly just now! Love'em! Is there an album to buy first??
Great!
yes it is
el aullido de un rocker!!!
it is.
You are so lucky!! I want to see them so bad. I did hear that they will be touring again next year. So I'll be buying tickets. Do you live in London or did you make the trip to go see them?

@723cielo correct conclusion ..

he kind of sounds like bono in the beginning!
puta som mermao
perfeita demais essa musica
Laughing Sky, Rosetta West, Black Keys, Stereophonics, Low Flying Owls?
Thousand likes
I just can't understand why are so many thumbs down!
Musically (not vocally), the bridge/chorusy bit sounds like 'Road To Nowhere' by Talking Heads. Ace version though.
Ahhh, the self righteous music lovers.
hedwig??? that a compliment btw:::::
Well I haven't heard of STP but I have to say if it's the same genre it'll be hard to beat BRMC
@miguelmendez92 I don't think he's feeding his ego. I'm sure there are people who listen to top 40 stuff who really get into it but the fact is they come and go. That's the nature of POPULAR music. how long did they play for?? thinkin of goin to the hammond show
stop hating on STP! they were a great great band, as is BRMC, i dont think they're comparable at all though, different music, who on here has never heard of STP? you guys need a lesson if you've never heard of them
is matt hollywood from bjm in this band? or some one else that was once in bjm??
nugbutt Peter Hays (the guitar player) used to be in BJM
exactly
I myself usually say, that they, along with king of Leon, are the only good rock band that came along since pearl jam
Why he left the band????
plz tell me ,thax
@miguelmendez92 It's not music to hum along to when you work out or to make the commute seem shorter, it's armchair, relaxing and dissecting lyrics music.
@723cielo STP?
I don't know who said it, I couldn't find the comment.
@bucknutz021891 Killers and brmc are both great
ino świst
@PHAEDRIDER Haha, are they that bad?
@only1joe4life i envy you for not having to hear stp
sniff
They're just not mainstream enuff - 2 many balck notes without quick resolve on the white 1s
@723cielo LMFAO :p
@bucknutz021891 maybe its better to be like this u know. success isnt always a good thing
Why are so many people Scientologists? does that make them all right? I didn't think I'd need to equip myself with 'backup' when I clearly stated this was a subjective issue. nick jago
forse perchè la maggior parte delle persone si "meritano" i killers, ahaaa
Honestly I can't fathom why they would be paired with STP... I don't hear the connection. It's like when The Flaming Lips toured with Candlebox... Christiantheory is so totally correct all that stuff is shit this is music
smack will make anyone a couple beats off... Good luck Nick. Get clean and come back to the band.
why can´t anybody be into both directions?!? numetal wasn´t always funny, but there are some good bits...but i love BRMC too - so where´s the problem? both bands got great tunes, that´s how i see it...
@RussellJones68 BRMC like Coldplay ahaah????you already have a computer in the asylum ????
nick jago's drumming seems a bit off
I saw them both last night.
And yes STP puts on a better show.
These guys are good,
but a frontman like Scott gets people going.
..makes for a better show.
@PHAEDRIDER Oh if it sounds like that it is shit then.
@Christiantheory ur obsession with feeding your ego thinking ur better by saying that is sad
how could these guys possibly be better than stp???
i really liked this band when i saw stp live and they were the openers, but stp have been around longer and have soo many more hits than these guys.
you guys have the right to your own opinion, but mine is stp is wayyy better...
