  • After 3 years, my orange robotic friend finally gave up on me due to battery failure! The battery meter on the controller clearly says I still have 6 minutes to land the drone by myself but went from 6 mins to 0 mins in 3 seconds! At this point the drone was already unresponsive :( and I really wish there's a sort of a simple notification that the battery is defective before even taking off! I tried to retrieve the drone but the lake used to be a quarry, it was very deep! :( :( :(

Yep. Happened to me too. Battery had bad cell and drone freaked out and decided to land in the sea. Battery only a quarter into its advertised life. Such a shame.

If your drone's batteries are 3 years old it wasn't a good option to fly over water. I have an H520 from Yuneec (plus other homemade) and after 1 year of "duty", old batteries are only used in "safe areas" (no river, no lake/pound, no sea, no roads). And after 1 more year I don"t trust same anymore even if full charged as the internal resistance is bloody to high.

Charles if you need to borrow one of my EVO II Pro's just let me know. My Nephew has my newer one in PA through Christmas, but I have another one I was waiting on the ReMote ID module from FlySky to arrive before using it for work. I've been using the Mini 4 Pro to be compliant in LAANC and other areas, but it is still a big pain in the butt to have to go to the DJI website to get an authorization code to upload to the RC-2 before the flights unlock the geo-fencing. I'm waiting for a more seamless Autel solution, where the remote just asks you the question if you authorization to fly in this zone or that zone and there is no geo-fencing, just a built-in Remote ID module and some of the best features from DJI flagship models. I also have an unlocked P4P that you can use as long as you like! Got to keep you in the sky!@@CTNJD

Autel battery tech is not as good as the major market leader. Three years meant hundreds of charging cycles. They wear out over time. Sorry that you had to find out the hard way.
