  • The Much Anticipated Vehicle Walk Around. This is a custom of the Overlanding world; that when you reach a certain point of completion on your build, that you. walk around and show everyone what you've been up too! Today we cover everything from under the hood to in the canopy and everything inbetween! The Toyota Hilux build has been an incredible experience, watching it go from a 4x4 Rental, and step by step turning into an EPIC Overlander! I have been privileged to work with all the companies that got involved with the build and to also share it with such an awesome audience! Sit back, relax and enjoy!
    A Big shoutout to my awesome sponsor of this video; Cross Country Insurance you can get in touch with my good buddy Frikkie who can help get you covered by Cross Country here: bit.ly/CCICROAM

      @@RoamOverlanding Am an Aussie with a Jimny GLX on order and would love to have your input on the roof-top load you were putting on the Eezi-Awn roof rack when you had the Jimny. In Aus we reportedly have a 30kg limit on roof top loads for the vehicle but it seems to me you must have had much more weight up there than that: a couple of full jerry cans alone would take you over. Did you ever have any trouble? Very much like the look of the Eezi-Awn rack with those four supports each side. Looks much more secure than any of the local products. Would greatly appreciate your input.

    i would lime to know how the Jackery differs from the nationalluna? what would u do with the one vs the other?

    • @RoamOverlanding
      @RoamOverlanding  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Jackery charges at 10A max vs 25A max for the NL Greenbox; The NL is a more reliable power delivery for say a camping fridge. You can also scale up the battery on a NL to a high capacity if you wanted too. The down side though then is that you will need to add an inverter for clean AC power and that can get quite expensive to get good quality inverters; but you can then scale it up to more output than the jackery, so again the Jackery is an off the shelf option that requires little hard installation into the vehicle. The NL needs cables run from the battery directly to the charger etc. So if you have to balance the price, the jackery is good value, but less versatile in some ways!

If I could make one recommendation , Speak to Kallie at EFS Africa they are importing Browndavis 150 LT replacement tank for the N80 Hilux , This would get your spare wheel back in its original position and remove the weight from the roof .

  • @dumanimjo609
    @dumanimjo609 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not criticizing your decision to get a bigger, more versatile vehicle, as it makes perfect sense in every measurable metric.
    However, I really wish you could've kept the Jimny, or replaced it with a vehicle with equal charm and soul. As capable as the Hilux is, it leaves one feeling cold and not emotionally invested in the films like the Jimny did. There is a trio of South African overlanders who regularly do trips in their 3 Toyota's, and they do amazing trips, yet I never go back to re-watch their trips...but with the Jimny I go back to watch episodes I'd already seen over and again (eg. S1E33).
    The Jimny is flawed, we all know that (and i'm sure you know this better than most), but it is exactly that fact that makes us fall in love with it. The 'Lux is a great all-rounder, but that unfortunately does not equate to a character that we as the audience feel strongly about, or find loveable. As Jeremy Clarkson famously said when comparing the technically superior McLaren MP4-12C to the 458, "Germany is clean and run efficiently...but nobody wants to go on holiday in Germany"
    I do appreciate your work though and think your storytelling skills are on point. You've done a great job and I congratulate you for all the success you have had thus far.

    Howsit brother, I just wanted to ask you how long it takes for your phone to connect to the dastek module after you start the car. Cause obviously you don't want the immobilizer to become an inconvenience

    • @RoamOverlanding
      @RoamOverlanding  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to manually connect to the Unichip and then select it in the app; its not ideal but its better than an oke being able to flip a switch to turn off the immobiliser.
