How Nagi Seishiro became a MAN (and you can too)

  • Nagi Seishiro is one of Blue Lock's most popular characters, but I have very different reasons for liking him than most people - there's one scene in particular that really stood out to me - so in this video, as well as Nagi's awakening, his incredible goals and hype moments, we'll be looking at how this timid boy became a man.

After reading the Nagi Spin-off manga, The difference of Nagi and Reo's mind were showcased when Reo said "I never thought changing would be this cruel" where as Nagi said "Who would've thought that changing would be this exciting?"

Reo's 3rd selection match is easily one of my favorites. When he realizes that unlike almost everybody else, he's got a safety net if he fails at football, and then goes ''nah fuck that, I wanna win''
Though I think Isagi's statement isn't just ''be the one that does'', he also means, ''stop waiting for someone else to save you, you need to save yourself''. Which is exactly what we see with Bachira later, saving himself and becoming the one who chooses.

This video got recommende to me in the most precise and exact moment.
Not only in a day I felt the worst after "watching someone else get the one that i wanted", but even in the most exact moment where i decided I don't wanna feel like this anymore.
I have many things to learn and so many more that I can achieve, but I haven't really started, until this week.
I feel like this is what you mean about starting, about getting there, about achieving.
This is what the term "discipline" wants to convey, but doesn't always do.
In short, I just wanna tell you «thanks». Thanks you for this video, that i REALLY needed «especially for that».
Maybe not with *her*, even if she's the cutest and preetiest one i've met, but with someone else that I can finally fulfill my heart's expectations too.

I really enjoy this video. It seems to stretch out further from the main idea of Nagi and Reo and just talk more on life, yet it all ties back into the topic at the very end. How this ties into me, I seriously want to get a better physique, and that's definitely because I see others with amazing physiques. This video was a huge eye opener because the whole "It's impossible" thing is honestly right. While, there are some things such as genetics that'll stop me from having my dream body or whatever, it'll still be better to try and get as close as I can to that goal than sit here and tell myself it'll be a waste of time.
I'm not someone who calls a person something negative if they're successful, it's more or less the opposite. I give them praise and make myself feel as though I am not doing good enough, and I truthfully am not. I think of the fact that the time I am given is being used on the same social media I am seeing these good looking people in, and not actually changing myself. Which is exactly the premise of this video. Achieving goals and changing who you are.
One thing I wished was touched more on in this video is Nagi's idea of change. If I recall, he specifically told Reo that if he picked him, nothing would change for either of them. You see Nagi go through so much evolutions, from Bachira's unique pass to his desire to win. That's what Nagi was looking for. Reo ends up chasing Nagi for approval rather than changing himself and being proud of who he is. (Slight Reo spoilers) It's not even up until later chapters that we see Reo truly accept himself for who he is, and that's when it feels as though he has the most development. No longer tying his goal to Nagi, but just improving as a player.
Reo definitely deserves his own special video, maybe relying on others too much, or not focusing on yourself enough. Either way, as a character, I'd say Reo is a beautiful example of what many people go through in denial of their failures, or rather just denial of not improving.
    Beautiful video man.

I've competed in E-sports for Street Fighter/Tekken/Mortal Kombat/Guilty Gear and it's been making me have a life crisis. I'm so much better now at them and my tournament results has shown it. Here's the catch, I don't put in any effort at all and I feel like I'm Nagi. I've been getting into arguments with myself criticising myself why I'm I doing better now with a slacker work rate and little effort. At first I blamed modern fighting games being easier but I ended up picking up older titles and doing well with them pretty quickly. Then I blamed my age but if age was a thing you wouldn't have all young guns beating these older legends at all vice-versa. This internal conflict made me question other areas of my life where I'm better at things I put little effort in and I'm worse at things I'm pretty bad at. This video offered me that explanation (especially the 5:00 mark) and the person I've been arguing with regarding fighting games is my past self who was more like Reo.

Loved the video as always! Also i k ow that it was just a small part of this video but i feel like this isn't talked about as much as it should: social media as of today just thrives on negativity and anger. The algorithm loves engagement and it REWARDS people being angry, acting out their emotions in the comments and starting debates over the simplest, meaningless things. The recipe for success is to just appear stupid and dumber than everyone so that people can FEEL superior to you, insulting you in the comments, boosting your engagement and making you go viral over this, so more people do this in a shitty loop of hate and lies. Thank you for your videos, they're a spark of hope for the future of digital media

Hey...been watching your content for a while now. It got me into BlueLock and made me subscribe. This latest video is probably the first I've ever commented on.
I just wanted to say while the core message is indeed something a lot of people would benefit from hearing ( maybe not the specific goals as that varies from person to person) as I kept watching I did find the focus on Nagi to be a bit amiss. Maybe its because it didnt go into his thought process and evolution in more detail. Maybe youre holding off in an attempt to not spoil anime faithfuls, but only time will tell. The comparison between Nagi and Reo was interesting but I don't really see how pitting Reo against Nagi clicks it's not that he's necessarily envious of Nagi but at least in the anime moreso hurt by his "betrayal". We also don't know much about Reo's thought process in the anime yet so maybe that's also something for later.
I guess what I'm trying to say is compared to some of your other videos that tied in a character's thought process, motives, action and results with irl scenarios that apply to us this one came off as a bit incoherent. I watched it twice just to be sure I didnt misunderstand the main idea, however it still feels a bit difficult to tie in these different elements here.
I really like your work and wish to provide feedback on what i might not have enjoyed as much this time.Your content is great and I have no doubt it'll only continue to improve, so I'm excited to see what you have in store for the future.

That's an... interesting take you got there on Reo vs Nagi to be honest. When you initially asked "Are you a Reo or a Nagi?", I thought your point there would be along the lines of Reo being the one who actually worked for his achievements, without any support from his family I might add, until he hit some kind of plateau and THEN we could argue he became a "watcher" as you called it - and Nagi being the "gifted kid" so to speak, the one who got everything without doing anything, and also has this "nah, why do I have to do this, that's actually work, can we just do something where I don't have to put in work"-attitude.
Even more so, I would not consider Reo to be a "watcher" (midn you, I'm writing this at the 3:20 mark, so maybe some of my following points come up later in the vid anyway)... well, it's... complicated. I'd say he BECAME one at some point during his journey with Nagi, actually in my eyes, he became one the second Nagi chose to go with Bachira & Isagi. But before that - and actually during that entire match against Nagi - I'd not call reo a watcher. I'd call him a facilitator. Yeah, he likely won't become the one striker that makes all the goals etc that Ego is looking for - but if he piyks himself up at some point, like REALLY picks himself up, he has a good chance at least to become the one guy that's the ACTUAL reason why that one striker even gets into situation where he can make these goals.
Honestly, Reo is what Isagi could've become or what I thought he could become in the beginning - until he gradually lost what would've made him the perfect bridge between the main striker Ego tries to forge, and the rest of the team. Like take the great spanish national team of 2012 - sure, I loved Torres, of course. But the real heroes always were people like Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta.

    • @thebluefyrephoenix

I'm completely Honest from my side
I'm like Reo (felt a little hard
    but doesn't )
Honestly I need to not become a pain , cause I'm truely is a pain in the ass of myself , I'm being a obstacle to myself that's holding me back , the biggest obsticle in my own unlimited potential.
There goes a hard lesson for myself .

Recently I've been skipping work outs. The main culprit is likely exhaustion, but I can't deny that I could do half of the work out, or at least stretch. I'm just sitting and watching as my dream get's 1% farther away with every time I skip it. What am I even doing
I tried motivating myself, but I think the main gripe is that I'm simply afraid of the pain, I can't breathe when I run, it hurts to do the plank, pistol squats are fun but also the worst, push ups are exhausting. Additionally I have really not good environment and am pretty much alone.
    I dunno

One self improvement reminder for everyone reading this:
To those of you who are aware that watching porn is like a drug meaning it's instant gratification similar to the level of something like Cocaine or Meth.
I mean this point I'm about to make isn't as harsh or scientifically backed up as the NoFap movement but:
Watching sports is very similar to watching porn, because you're watching another man win instead of winning in life yourself.

5 years ago I woulda been Reo, Now Im Nagi 100%
Been watching my calories now proudly for 2 years straight. Watching sugar as well and taking it from better sources like blueberries.
Had my bloodwork done and for the first time in years despite some medical history. All the bloodwork came back in the green areas. AKA Perfect.
Just finished 12 weeks of a 4 day split strength training program to replicate Toji from JJK physique.
Despite only having access to 15 pound dumbells I didnt care or let that stop me, I found alternatives to the machines stuff listed and I can move my back muscles like Ive seen in YT shorts now. Which is pretty dope. Given that Im stuck with 15 pound as well, my solution is simply more reps to failure to stimulate growth.
At the beginning I would struggle to get to 10 reps for example.
Now my ego version of myself that I have to beat constantly every week for example on the bench press is 60.
If that doesnt show progress idk what does. from 8 to 60 to feel strain.
I got strong to the point I injured my toe from clenching the ground hard enough to tear the skin of my big toe from going past failure on goblet squats.
I didnt wana lose to my old self and didnt realize it had even happened inside my shoe until 5 hours later.
The hardest step is just starting.
    Once you start.
    Its like an addiction.
    Now I cant stop.
Now I have to see how far I can go just like comparing it to my range scores in siege, I like seeing the number go up.
Who says I have to stop here? Only Myself. No one else can stop me from going to 100, 200, 300 even.
I also made it a point to myself and my health that I will not grind any competitive games until I have walked 10,000 steps MINIMUM.
This does not excuse any strength training for the day , keep that in mind. So If I want to go back and do something from my bad habits like grinding ranked in valorant or siege. Well Now I have to earn it and work for it.
Funnily enough even doe I didnt cardio at all the past 12 weeks, the 1st time I got on the treadmill in a while. My mile time got decimated by 3 times almost.
(I got PNA/Hypoxia from Covid and landed in the ICU in 2020 for 2months so my running and stamina got reset pretty much for context which is why my mile run times were horrendous in the first place)
Also this is what caused the weight gain all the way to 185lbs, then the calorie watching got me down to 140lbs from June 2022 to Jan 2023.
After recovering from that ordeal and starting this whole mindset change, slowly went down to like 30min walk for a mile.
But after the 12 weeks of no cardio and pure lifting. I also bulked up 19 pounds btw, I could suddenly push 14mins now for a mile and did 3.40 miles in 42mins 43 seconds.
    Guys
If you Need something to do
Aim for just 5k steps at first.
    Its just walking
    It requires NOTHING.
If you cant commit to something FREE like that then you truly dont want it that bad. And thats just the truth. If people with no legs are willing to sprint with their ARMS. What is YOUR excuse?
    If walking is too boring/easy/
    GREAT
    thats perfect
    RUN THEN
you can get 10k steps done faster
It took me an 1h 20 slightly jogging to get 10k steps on average.
IF youre capable of running, that time just suddenly plummets under an hour and youre done for the day. Boom. Congrats.
    Discipline acquired.
The rest becomes history and easy.
    Tempetation becomes a meme.
You can now complete difficult things because you have the discipline hard wired in your brain from willing to stick to something that was beneficial and difficult (For some of us) for your health.
