    I am Italian and last January , after 15 years i came back to Nyc to attend concerts at Madison Square Garden : i was alone and i used to walk the streets at night and i had no problem around Times Square , i felt safe and secure because NYPD is everywhere , in every corner . NYC used to be a scary and dangerous city in the 70's and 80's but now it's different . I ❤ NY ( the greatest city in the world ) and i will be back as soon as i can .

    I've always longed to see New York, but haven't ever made it there. Thanks for these videos! I appreciate them so much! I hadn't thought about how LOUD it would be there even at 3am. It seems like you guys never have any actual silence. I was also pretty surprised to see birds on the street at 3am. With it being so bright, I guess it makes sense. But here in the rural midwest, you just don't see pigeons out on the sidewalk at night. It's pitch black here most of the time, and very, very, very quiet (except in summer when there are choruses of bugs and frogs).

      When I first arrived to NYC back in 2018, I was really exciting to explore the "city that never sleeps", but boy was I disappointed. At 2-3am, maybe besides Times Square area, the streets are pretty much empty. In my hometown (Tel Aviv), we used to go out at 1am and leave the club at 9-10 in the morning, and you could see the morning people and the night people fist bumping eachother at Rothschild Boulevard before heading their ways. 3am in TLV is like noon in NYC. But I love NYC nonetheless and it's my favorite destination ever since.

      Drug use is a symptom of trauma, depression, material conditions, social pressures. They aren't what cause people to become bad. Its people self medicating to numb pain they are experiencing, and because it feels good, it becomes addictive and you can get dependent on it to feel good. Doesn't solve the underlying issues, though. Unfortunately, these people don't get much help to heal properly.

      If you feel like it, give. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't feel like it. Follow your gut. If you do give, keep the money separate so you're not rifling through your things to find money to give. Have a $5 bill somewhere where you can take it out and quickly give and move on. If you don't feel like giving, tell them you don't carry cash, and keep moving.

    • @ImOvervalued
      @ImOvervalued 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      in terms of demeanor, 95% of people just outright ignore them and don't even turn to look. So anything non negative is an improvement over that. Giving money to the homeless never seems to cause trouble in my experience. Keep it brief or if the vibe is right hang out for a minute and talk to them. This homeless man gave me a weed pen on Times Square because I had no other bills than 20s and he never usually gets a $20 bill from a stranger.
