Hello!
Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Bambarakanda Falls, the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka. Standing at a height of 263 meters (863 feet), this waterfall is ranked as the 461st highest waterfall in the world. It's located in Kalupahana, which is situated in the Badulla District and is just 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) away from the A4 Highway.
Bambarakanda Falls was formed by Kuda Oya, a tributary of the Walawe River, and can be found in a forest of pine trees. One of the unique features of this waterfall is that visitors can hike up to the top of the waterfall. The hike is about 1 kilometer long and involves a steep elevation. It's definitely a challenging hike, but the views from the top are absolutely breathtaking.
During my visit, I also had the opportunity to visit Lanka Ella Falls, which is located nearby. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
One of the highlights of my trip was camping at the top of the waterfall. The experience was truly unforgettable. The camping site was very peaceful, with no sounds of traffic or people to disrupt the tranquility. I highly recommend this spot for anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. However, it's important to remember to keep the area clean and respect the natural environment.
Overall, my experience at Bambarakanda Falls was truly amazing. It's a must-see destination for anyone visiting Sri Lanka.
