Gobo projectors can be expensive but there is an alternative option that is much cheaper and still effective; a homemade Gobo projector.
To make a cheap but effective homemade Gobo projector with nothing more than a cardboard tube and a DSLR lens: split a Pringles tube, tape the kit lens into the resulting gap, cut out a Gobo pattern from card, (like a Venetian blind or framed window), fix it to the outer end of the tube in a cardboard gate, squeeze a Speedlite into the other end and tape it in for a snug fit, zoom and focus the lens til the gobo pattern is sharp on the backdrop, set the flash and camera settings, take a test shot.

You can use a magnifying glass 🔍 in a shower box to make this too its better with a mobile phone 📱 playing a movie in the shoe box on full brightness & theres your projector
