Thanks for checking out the videos. If you like to prep for specific work, I think you'll love Hyrox.

I do basically everything you say, except I am rotated about 20 degrees to one side, with feet staggered and the forward foot correlating to a forward hand. This protects my once-injured lower back and allows me maximum push in the major driving leg. I see how this might be less total push, but I am one of the "heftier" athletes you describe so I have more push than the average Hyrox runner (and yes as you say that means my running ability is less)

If anyone seeing this video also has back issues, and thus can't do traditional deadlift, I highly recommend suitcase lifts and do the reps exactly as Rich states. Works for me anyways. Anything that makes your legs DRIVE into the ground.

Great advice Rich! Just in time for practicing Sleds today. Stoked to use for Hyrox LA and WC in my backyard!

Just did my first Hyrox in Dallas (November 2023). Kept tripping on the rope and falling over. Any tips? Setting the rope to the side puts in others lanes. Is it against the rules to place behind you?

What would you say is a good 1RM deadlift to be able to pull the Hyrox sled in a decent avg time? Mine is 360 so I’m not sure where/how I would stand in the sled pull.

That's a good question and one I've been kicking around for a while. There is no standard answer - but in general, I think over 315 is enough strength to move the sled. 360 is plenty strong enough (of course, being stronger wouldn't hurt), I can guess that the average deadlift of an elite hyrox athlete is around 390-400. Your muscular endurance could be the limiter if you struggle with the pull.
