Ive been playing like this most of my life. I always found it hard to control my swing and my handicap never seemed to budge from 23. Cost me a fortune in consistent change of clubs and lost balls 🤣. Since using that technique my handicap has been as low as 4. It helped me loads and would highly recommend changing if your struggling. Great video lads well done 👏🇬🇧

I’ve been doing a half swing for a few months now for my irons and driver. Got my handicap down from 35 to 23 so far. It might not look perfect but it’s improved me massively!

I took a lesson at my instructor recommended I only use a half swing, been making better contact. Hopefully I’ll continue to improve. My handicap is also high 34 and if I can get in down to 23 I would be celebrating.

@@100torresm I’d also recommend it. Like I say, worked wonders for me and I’m playing my best golf (which isn’t that great haha). Majorly happy with 23 though!! This time next year I’d be disappointed if I’m not under 20.

It worked amazingly well! I felt like I was striking the ball solid and effortlessly. A feeling that I had not experienced in many years. And for the first time my divots were square. I am nearly 68 and I am happy with the way I am playing golf! Thank You !

Couple of points from your British Golf Mate in Pennsylvania Liam: 1) Informative video and really well done - enjoyed it! 2) Lee is a very good golfer, and he knows what he's talking about. I like how he was making comments from both in-front and behind the camera. You need to bring him in more often. He brings a lot to the table!

Short swing can certainly improve the quality of contact. Very helpful to a lot of players. Now we need a video where Lee or Dave the Pro fix Barlow's slice.

Thank you for the best golf advice I have ever received!
Like many of you, I am prone to wind up and try to murder the ball… But today I played with this “half-swing that is actually what your whole swing should look like to stay in control” and I hit the ball more consistently and straighter than ever in my life! AND I could still count on my existing iron gapping. Literally no lost distance! Shaved 8-10 strokes off my previous best scores on the same course!

I am 58 years old and I am an average driver of the ball. Last few weeks I have been trying to imitate OMP'S swing and I have been more consistent with my driver and irons. I haven't lost any yardage, in fact I have gained yardage and my back thanks me for the easy smooth swing. I focus on keeping my right elbow close to me body and just make a smooth swing. Tell OMP thank you for the instructional videos he has done. When my game goes south I can watch his swing and get my rhythm back. Thank again for the videos!

Actually tried this today (before watching this video) after my driving developed a massive slice.I had recently purchased a new driver with a senior shaft I'm 63 and my swing speed has deteriorated over the years.Never been a big hitter even in my hay day 230yds was a good drive for me but they were always straight so i was happy.Over the years that has dropped to about 180yds as my swing speed dropped but just recently I've started to slice horribly so worst of all worlds.Today with my new driver I went to my local course and even though I was getting a few extra yards the slice remained...I was gutted !! I then decided to shorten my backswing to try and get some control and hopefully lessen the slice!
The results were amazing...like you I thought I was only half swinging but the drives were dead straight again and amazingly I was driving it further than I had done in years!!! I couldn't believe it to be honest the odd one still had a slight fade but the majority dead straight and long.My confidence is back and I can't wait to get out on the course again!!!!
Give it a try you might surprise yourselves.

Brilliant Liam, I've played for 49yrs and never stop trying new things , in this video you play with the same thoughts the rest of us do, in my experience everything works for a while but in the end we always end up back as are useual self. I've seen many golfers some low handicappers abandoning there swing and go looking for the holy grail. Only to find out they've thrown the baby out with the bath water. Some then spend the rest of time looking for something they once had. Your a nice 7 handicapper that is such an achievement be realistic you havnt got 8 hours a day to practice you havnt supperlty , youth or ability of finau , rahm or lyle. Love it though great video

Started using the half swing + one more club combination to keep length for few weeks. It works, I have reduced my hcp by almost 5 shots! I am also working on hip rotation and the half swing helps a lot there also. I am more precise now, less dispersion so I avoid a lot of difficult shots like sand traps or high rough...

This is a great swing thought, who can't hit a half swing. Fowler recently said NEVER hit a wedge full, at most only half swings. Besides, your backswing isn't where the power comes from, so yes I do this and I end up hitting it further because it is easier to shift your weight to the correct side of the ball. Love your sense of humor too.

I’ve been doing the 3/4, 85% power swing and the old “keep your eye on the ball” methods, both are a challenge in themselves. But my scores almost always come in at average or below (6-10 over par for me) with almost no blows up holes from lost drives (when I stick with it throughout the round). I also eagled both front 9 par 5’s in one week doing this, a testament to not losing that much distance. I maybe club down to an 8 iron for my 150 club if I’m cutting it but no less. And it’s a lot easier for me to shape the ball with less effort. Holed out from 105 the other day too with a 52 degree gap wedge, with you guessed it, a 3/4 swing. I love putting a driver into orbit but am tired of shooting 77 from the tips one weekend, then 85 the very next round. Its down right demoralizing lol. Great vid, this could be the next big trend!

Always had a short backswing, but I once had a lesson with the old pro at Dewsbury (Nigel Hirst - top fella). Put his advice into practice and when it came together I was hitting the ball miles, and straight. He focussed on weight transition, and transferring that to the club head, and the feeling of throwing a rugby ball on the follow through. It was remarkable how much it improved my game.

We started this with a 50 yard choked down sand wedge to start with. Now, our short game is much improved also. Richmond Virginia, USA

Seeing someone actually play a complete set of different length holes and explain in 'player language' - is way better than all these 'tailor's dummies / talking heads' rabbiting on for 15 minutes on some half cooked theory with their stupid beach balls, tennis balls, towels under their armpits, sticks in the ground at xx degrees blah, blah, blah - and yet they rarely actually hit a golf ball or IF they hit ONE they never show where it ended up.... 🤔

Excellent video! I think the key, as you said, is to 'think' half swing - if you're swinging smooth you will end up with close to a 3/4 swing. I think Lee said something key about this swing - turn through and exit left for power. Enjoyed the beautiful course, too.

Excellent video! How I heard a similar concept is the top of your swing should be the point at which your left arm is about to bend-no need to go higher. Back to basics is always good! Thanks for the great videos!

Liam, you have probably figured this out but I have noticed in your videos that the only time you slice is when you stop your hip rotation too soon. I have the same struggle. It feeds backward and causes me to start with an over the top motion. The half swing forces hip rotation all the way through. Love your videos !

Having watched some of your other videos with OMP giving tips and them working for me, I’ll be sure to give this tip a go !! Love the channel keep it up 👍

I've been doing half swings at the range to improve my approach shot accuracy, and I'm really accurate with gap wedge to 7iron but once I go to 6 iron and onwards it doesn't seem to work. I'm looking forward for us to come out of lockdown so I can try this technique on the course. I'd say I loose about 10% on distance but really tight dispersion so all good. :)

I've always had a half swing (not by design) and played off low single figures for 30 years without ever having a fitting or a lesson. Always feel your more in control of a shot without the long over extension. A smooth up and round pendulum style. Surprised more people don't try to do it. Look at OMP's swing.

Wowzers. Liam with the 1/2-3/4 swing you are a fairway finder. Seems to be something in this. Have to try it. Great info sir. 👍🏻🇨🇦

I will give it a try. This is timely as my really bad slice has reappeared after dropping 3 strokes on my handicap index this summer. 🙏

I can totally relate to what's been happening with you Liam I was shooting my best scores a few months back shooting low 80's and mid80' now I'm shooting in the 90's , half swings follow right through and go up a club or two works s treat

I practiced with the driver only for 8 months before going back to UK. I tried winding it up to gain more distance with varying results. Once on the golf course in UK it didn't enter my head to try for max distance. Just swung steady to good effect.

You have a little more of the stack and tilt feel now and it really works. Anytime my swing feels loose I go back to the shorter take away.

Also moving the ball in your stance a bit forward or back for different effects. I was driving the ball fairly well the last month, but had a horrible slice my last practice session. I noticed that the ball was way forward on my driver - I moved it back about 2- 3 inches and my draw returned. Every day can bring new challenges - Keep up the great work on the channel!

For years, I have used a 3/4 swing on irons and I am not quite as old as OMP, but i can break 80 from the Senior tees on over half my rounds. This was an excellent video. One thing you should emphasis is the shot only goes about 90% of the distance of a full swing for most of us.
