    It’s impressive and beautiful watching a real expert disassemble and then reassemble this camera. What a treat.

      Marty Forscher, the most famous US Nikon repairman in the 60s-70s called the Nikon F a 'hockey puck'. It was built so strongly that they were very difficult to damage in usage. I got my first 'F' in 1969. My father brought it home for me from Japan.

    Interesting. The Nikon F looks solidly built inside out. Was it more robust than its cheaper sibling, the Nikkormat?
    And how does the Nikon F compare with other Japanese high-end 35mm cameras of its day, e.g. the Canon F1, the Topcon Super D?

    What adhesive (if any) for replacing the mirror in my F? There looks to be hot glue but i dont think it is original. Any advice is appreciated.

    The Kiitos web site is strictly in Japanese, how would I contact them for a part or repair of my F4? Fascinating site and information.... Alex

    • @KeithElliott
      @KeithElliott 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can translate their page using Google. I just did and took a look around. They are telling people that instead of dropping off their cameras for repair, to mail them in (due to the coronavirus). Also, they basically said...they still do repairs but some replacement parts are no longer stocked, and are not all possible to get. One thing I noticed was that at the bottom of their pages, it still says 2010. Their phone number is at the bottom, you could try calling them or try sending them an email.

    While shooting my fourth role of film with my new Nikon F and Photomic FTN finder,, something strange happened to the viewfinder. The shutter speed numbers shown inside the viewfinder somehow got out of sync and no longer match the shutter speed numbers on the outside knob. When I first noticed the problem, the numbers shown inside the viewfinder were half as fast as the numbers on the knob: if the inside reads 4, the outside reads 8. If the inside reads 60, the outside is set to 120. Today, it happened again. Now the numbers on the inside are 1/4 as fast as the outside. It seems to me that somehow a component keeps slipping out of line somewhere inside the viewfinder, but I have no idea how to go about repairing it. Any suggestions?

      @TXLorenzo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Take your finder off and make sure the engagement pin is lined up with the bottom shutter dial. It sounds like your top shutter dial of the finder is not synched with the lower dial.

    Shouldn’t a CLA include CLEANING? I thought the proper way would be to disassemble everything, clean every party and the lubricate them when putting them together, and not lubricating on top of old grease…

  • @MrRom92DAW
    @MrRom92DAW 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Amazing. I would never have the nerves of steel to disassemble my camera like this. The F really is built like a tank. Do they accept cameras for CLA from the US?
