How to build a wood model ship from scratch!
General Summary: This video walks a hobbyist through the steps of creating a wood ship model step by step. It is designed for those who have never built a wood model ship before
As a modeler views these videos, they will note several versions of the ship being built. This is a very easy model ship to build, and can be configured/modified in a myriad of ways to suit the modelers taste. It is possible to end up with very different looking models based upon the woods/colors/ornamentation chosen throughout the build.
Bio: I started my "career" of crafting around 1st grade, when I made a funny car out of a cardboard toothpaste container with wheels also made from cardboard. I then "graduated" to cardboard versions of x-wings, tie-fighters and sandcrawlers. The crafting bug bit me early!

    Fragment Summary:
From your 1/32” basswood sheet cut lengths of ¼” wide planking (or any planking which is somewhat wider than that of the deck) and cut it to lengths which extend more than 1/16” taller than the length from your main deck to your quarterdeck.
Note: a darker stain was eventually used to in order to give the appearance of a different type of wood than the bulwark planking. If you also use a differing color, it’s important to use a brush with a very sharp edge on the portions of the planking which butt up against the deck and bulwark planking in order to keep the stain only on the area you wish to stain.
If you have painted your model and do not have seam lines to reference, simply use the deck as a You can cut it fairly close, and then simply sand it flush to the hull once the glue has dried. If you follow this method however, great attention has to be made while sanding/filing in order to not sand/file the sides of the ship at the same time thereby marring the previous finish on the sides.
