  • Understanding blues guitar runs is one the sure fire ways you can add blues licks to your guitar vocabulary. This blues run pattern can be shifted to any key and your minor pentatonic box 1 pattern lives in the same place. Let me show you a way to visualize the minor blues scale in an easy to understand and use in your lead guitar playing.

That's so damn cool. This is the sort of playing that keeps a grin plastered on my face. Everyone is going to get sick of hearing this, because I'm going to play it constantly. Great lesson!

Just watched your “battle ends and down goes Charles’s father” video. Makes so much more sense today than when I started teaching myself about 4 years ago. Just started practicing again and your video was definitely a hallelujah moment for me. Thank you.

funny intro - i need to know more about that chromatic exercise :D

Hey Dizzy! Really? I mean...I could do it as a warm-up video. The point I was making is we're learning guitar to serve the music, not to do exercises. Imagine doing all the warm-ups and exercises for running a marathon and not running a marathon. Exercises are for developing muscle memory. If they're not going to be used to make music, however, personally I think that's a waste of valuable practice time, (which us grown-ups struggle to find...kids/job/mortgage/pets). Thanks for your valuable comment my friend :)

@@rickysguitar: I indeed know people playing these chromatic exercises in their solos. When I practice too much technical stuff my playing gets worse. Basically every lick you learn can be used as a technical exercise and you will benefit more. That's why many shredders sound terrible: they practiced too much stuff which do not sound musical. Greetings from germany.

Been watching your vids for a while and they're great but its v hard to follow because we are looking at your fret straight on. To make it intuitive you need to flip the vid 180 and mirror....just a suggestion.
