Eyup Fretheads! Every Wednesday for the next 10 weeks I'll be teaching live guitar lessons from my book. I hope you tune up and turn up. It'll be great to see you :)
Lesson starts properly at 8:00
this is a livestream recording. there is waffle. Be nice or be banned. It's a long lesson but worth it.
I like my Donner DST 200 for 180 Euro. I'll upgrade electronics over time.
Mostly needed is not another guitar for anyone, but more of your SWEET lessons.
I got the ebook today.
100% AWESOME. Thanks, Ricky!
the greatest book and lessons I have ever received, I wish I had them 55 years ago but better late than never. thank you very much
Thanks Ricky I love these live lessons getting so much help from them
Ricky love the channel. Bought your book and use your videos as my base lessons. I just bought a js 400, in lake placid blue - just love it. Great value for money. By the way I'm 64 and this journey into music has me feeling like I'm 20.
Been working lately on the L7 idea. Truly a game changing map of the fretboard. All you really have to know is the location of the roots and you are off and running with the other chords.
I'm not really where I am going to use the other textures yet (maj/min triads is enough for now). Dyads look like a good thing to mix into the fun about now. I knew there was a reason this site caught my interest - thanks.
As always great lesson. I find it very useful to also know the circle of fourths in scale degrees. 7 3 6 2 5 1 4 b7 b3 b6 b2 b5. For example the b7 is same fret two stings away. b3 is two away, Etc. Can use it to build extension chords, add in missing notes in pentatonic, identify chord tones etc.
One of the best God bless
I've learned so much from you, I had to buy your book. Thanks for the great lessons.
Eyup! Thanks for your support :)
I ordered your book today can't wait for it to get to south carolina.. thanks Ricky.

Damn Ricky LOVE the Black one!!! All are killer!
Eyup Ricky, I've not yet caught up and looking forward to checking this one out.
I'd be there on your live YT lessons if I could ......but I've 'Gotsta get paid' so I'm still at work.
Keep up the great work ,much appreciated.
there's always the reply. the lesson starts around 8 minutes in.
You also have if you are on the low E .then the E is on the 7th fret below,, if on the A string then any note on the A string is on 5th low E and 7th fret on D string. Hope I explained it
I got a jet guitar year ago for £200 js 450 amazing guitar for the money no issues what so ever . Plays beautiful holds tune really well couldn't be happier
Very good so far! Amazing price for a LOT of guitar!
From Richmond Va
That’s a nice guitar
47:55 Looks like the IV Major 7th chord (on strings G B e) has the same notes as the vi minor triad.
Hard to keep a good man down !
Thanks! Gas money to keep you going another mile😊
Eyup! I really appreciate this, thank you. Ricky
you dont even need to add 7 or subtract 5, you can skip a string and skip 1. obviously two when jumping to the B and high E. when you want the next string you can start at the bottom since both are E and go up quickly
Hi Ricky, I’m wanting to buy your spiral bound Ultimate TH-cam guitar lessons book. How do I go about buying one?
Regards
Garry
Eyup Garry! You can get the spiral from Lulu. rickysguitar.com/spiral thanks for your support! 😀🎸
Where can I get one
Ricky I am mostly a new player. I decided on a 3/4 size electric acoustic because I am kind of convinced it will be much easier to play and learn on. Ihave not bought it yet .I like to hear your oppinion on it first.
Most 3/4 sized guitar are awful to tune. If you're after a smaller sized body then a folk sized guitar will work. If it's neck scale then 7/8 is better. Martin, Taylor do some great smaller sized guitars if you can afford them. Tanglewood, Eastman and Sigma do cheaper models. But from experience, when a student rocks up for their lesson with a 3/4 size guitar it's always a struggle. Worth thinking about as well is getting a local guitar luthier to set up your guitar with a low action so it plays easier. Also, you will lose tone but a lighter gauge of acoustic strings ( I recommend 10's ) will make it easier to fret notes cleanly until you gain calluses and hand strength.
Thanks Ricky, I think I will take your advice, and I am going with the Oliver live from Orangewood, @@rickysguitar
Get a short scale 24 3/4 but keep a full size body! Top tip I have small hands. Many guitars have this...not inferior just a wee bit shorter and surprisingly makes a difference.
If you want a electric that plays good and sounds nice check out a Fender, Music Master or Duo Sonic 24" scale length. Put 10's on it really easy to play, bend etc.
40:21 makes much sense, just hate the 5 dom.
New band name, "The stoompy sausages".

Answer: Sir Ricky, unfortunately you’re officially old.
and I can say that because I’m 58.
I felt the exact same way as your expressing today. However, I have lived long enough to figure out that all of my kids have reported back to me Dad you’re old you just don’t pick up on things as fast as you used to be cheers mate.

Try the IYV LP Clone thinner neck I like mine but it’s too heavy. Deal!
