    The factor mentioned at 4:13 (Will SAT prep take away from other factors) should be labeled Factor 5 (not Factor 4.)

    Studying really helps on the SAT. I scored a 1200 on the SAT and brought it up to 1450 after studying through Khan Academy and a couple of youtube resources.

    I know an international student who scored 1490 on the SAT and had great achievements, GPA(3.8), extracurriculars and recommendations. But he didn't get into any of the schools he applied to. I'm starting to think it was because of his financial need. Any thoughts?

    I really hope standardized tests will be gone in the future. They do not measure intelligence. It causes stress and anxiety for too many students. I have wasted many summers studying for the SAT and doing poorly on it. Plus, I will never even use the skills for the SAT for the rest of my life. All they determine is how well we can fill in a bubble and take standardized tests

      @@metarealitylabs I don't mean to offend you, but you may have been brainwashed your entire life to see these tests as a good thing. Open your eyes, millions of students around the country are going through an unfathomable amount of stress and anxiety to acquire skills that will not benefit them later in life. Not everyone has the mind to take these tests. I think of all of the potential that goes to waste and how many students who could have been successful but don't know that they are genius due to a poor score. It's like Einstein said, "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing that it is stupid." I want a world where students do not have to relate to that fish and are able to find themselves and discover their passion to help humanity. With a proper education system, I feel like we could have found a cure for cancer by now. We need a world where fish will no longer be forced to climb trees and be judged by it.

      Look I’m sorry girl but employers, like colleges, are looking for intelligent, diligent, and dedicated workers. The SAT is ridiculous but so are drug tests- this is just the society we live in. Buckle down or just ride the endless wave of mediocrity. Your choice.

    • @metarealitylabs
      @metarealitylabs 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ayush Shah With millions of kids applying to colleges a year, how else would colleges be able to quickly weed out unintelligent students other than a nationwide aptitude test? A good SAT score not only predicts intelligence, but also dedication. Those with suboptimal SAT scores simply do not belong in elite universities, as they lack the two factors mentioned above. Allowing unqualified students into good colleges will only serve to cause even more stress on the student (because they cannot keep up with the intense workload) and also waste their substantial tuition money.

    If you take the test October, do you still get the score early enough for early decision? Doesn’t it take like a month for the scores to come in? By the time the scores come in, applications are due. I’m not sure how this works, please help me or correct me if I’m wrong. Also I’ve heard that it’s bad if you take the sat more than 3 times. I’m taking it August and it would be my 3rd time but I don’t know if I can get my score high enough.

    • @externaledition6836

      Hi Shiwei!
      Prepscholar says: "SAT scores are typically viewable online starting 13 days after your test date (15 days for Essay scores)." The only exception is the June SAT which takes about five weeks to release scores. If you take the October SAT you would then get your results in about 15 days.
      It's not bad per say to take the SAT more than three times but it does depend on wether you studied or not. If you did not study you will eventually hit a wall and your score will not increase by much. If you put in time and take multiple practice exams, identifying your weakness and improving on them- your score is sure to go up.

    • @SaraJasim100
      @SaraJasim100 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t intend on applying for early admission but I believe the deadline is November 1st for a lot of schools(?). The October SAT is on the 5th and it typically takes two weeks for you to get your score so if you decide to take it then you’ll be fine. If you truly think you’ll be able to get the score you want when you take it in October, then go for it. According to prepscholar colleges start to raise their eyebrows around your sixth try. You still have a good amount of time until the August SAT to study though. I think you’ll be fine. Don’t fret too much about it. You already have a small advantage by applying early decision.
