THIS is what it means to play from your spirit and not just 'beat the drums'... THIS is the difference between an minstrel and a musician. Thank you Marvin... Miss you dude!!
This is how you create a COMPLEX pocket!! Essentially, each stroke is carefully crafted, all pretty simple, yet NEVER boring... Absolutely one of the best drummers to create such a fluid pocket, tremendously annointed, and deserving of all the respect in the world. You are the absolute MAN, Marvin McQuitty!!! God Bless.
He has owned some of the best Snare Drums I have ever heard, So Bright in tone. What I admired the most about Marvin is his timing and his approach for every fill and accent, So Precise. I miss him. 💕💕
Marvin was truly the Groove master with chops! All about the almighty Groove, and doesn’t use or abuse the chops for evil! Marvin is truly musical and he plays from the spirit! And that’s was makes his playing great!
Wow... I just had to lift my hands! I literally feel him worshipping God through the drums. It literally brought me to tears.... (still crying as I type) I was just listening to him on Blessed/Shout Unto God with Fred Hammond. I miss hearing him on records but, I am so glad that he had the chance to build a great body of work that we can access and be blessed by. RIP Marvin.
Wow veo este video y me toca tanto como adora a Dios con tanta unción, que puedo sentirlo cuando toca los tambores, Que grande Marvin, ahora adoras delante de Dios, 🥺❤️🙏🏽
It's great to see this kind of drumming be played in praise & worship of our Lord. Open-Handed drumming done very well and inspiring to want to employ more of it in my own playing.
I find myself engulfed in his presence as this video pulls me into a worship experience every single time I watch it. It never gets old. What a fresh wind. It was amazing working with Marvin on so many projects. We all miss you dude.
Thanks for keeping this up. He was my favorite drummer before I ever put a face to the name or even knew his name. His playing inspired me greatly and it still does today. I never got to meet him to say “thank you” yet I know we’ll rejoice in heaven...
One of the best pocket players ever! Period! He has inspired me to play for the Lord. I pray that what ever illness he has right now is healed. I love you marvin and God does too!
RIP Marvin... You were in deed the King of Gospel drumming and yes, you will always remain the King of Gospel drumming in our hearts... We love you but we know GOD loves you more...
Oh my brother Marvin. I just noticed that you are no longer with us! Jesus my God. Oh how much will I miss you. The Church in Winnipeg will also miss you brother. But we all shall meet again and glorify God together. I know you went home a head of us. I love you Marvin and I know how much you inspired my Son and my family when we met in Winnipeg. My prayer and support for your family that left behind specially your wonderful wife. God will take care of them.

Marvin McQuitty would normally use a 13x6.5 snare drum....Like in the POL Chapter 3 DVD he uses the Yamaha Steve Jordan Signature snare when he joined Yamaha Teddy Campbell was using the 14x5.5 Yamaha Paul Leim Signature snare drum on the Modern Drummer Festival '06 vid
Aw yeah I forgot If any of his familly members can see this I would like to say I send my condoliences to you. R.I.P. Marvin Mcquitty. He was one of my favorite drummers of all times.
Dudes, what's that small screen next to the 8" tom for? First time I see that.. I saw some dude there playing, but can u actually see musical arrangements and stuff? that would be awesome
I highly doubt there was a screen...He has an innate ability to hear the inflections in the music coupled with plenty of practice in this genre. He doesn't need visual aids.
