QUESTION OF THE DAY -- What Grade Do YOU Give GMKD For His 1st Round In The 2024 NHL Draft? Also, Which Free Agent Do YOU Want To See Signed On Monday??? HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!
Hey Jack appreciate all the great work throughout the last few weeks been busy as hell the next time you’re down here in St Louis drinks are on me! Maybe the rookie tournament in September
When Levshunov is just another defensive franchise piece, along the lines of 5 to 6 other young defensemen already in the organization, while Demidov turns into an offensive force similar to Bedard, I will take out my frustrations on KD.
Hawks traded away 3 second round picks and got Levshunov-Boisvert-Vanacker. Three good players. I would have preferred not trading away three second rounders (technically one was a move up) and taken Demidov-Hage-Elick-Stiga-Skahan. I prefer the five prospects to the three.
Entering into a draft with the second worst record in hockey is no time to draft with filling in roster needs in mind. A middling ceiling RHD and large framed bottom 6 center while passing on the waaaay higher end talents of Demidov and Eiserman is a gut punch. Draft Demidov AND Eiserman and you are coming at teams in waves! They already had some nice young D organizational talent. Fill in the need for RHD and size up front with trades, FA, and lower/future draft picks. Now was the time to add those franchise pieces only a rebuild can produce. Therefore, a draft grade of F.
Going into this draft, I was filled with excitement. Now, I'm simply waiting for KD to be replaced. The longer KD is here the more of Bedard's prime years will be wasted. KD is shooting for mediocrity whether he realizes it or not.
I think you are underestimating Sacha Boisvert. FWIW, he reminds me of a prospect the Blackhawks drafted a decade ago - Phillip Danault. I am more upset about trading the two 2nd round picks to draft Marek Vanacker at No. 27.
I wouldn't say I'm underestimating Boisvert, I had him ranked 22nd in the class. It wasn't a crazy reach, I just think he's a high-floor, low-upside player. Just my opinion. And Vanacker was going to get gobbled up by someone before 34, I 100% believe that.
There is no disdain for artyom… we love him on the team and are happy for him …but demidov and what we left on the board has me a little shocked.. the way the draft shook out we couldve had the best stick handler playmaker The best goal scorer And the best rhd defensive defenseman in emery
"Kyle from Chicago" might not be "from Chicago" much longer with drafts like this. Hopefully he's the smartest guy in the room, but most scouts had much lower ratings on all these guys AND he traded up to get 2 of them. We started the offseason with 3 2nd rounders, and now we have zero... yikes. We won't know how good these kids are for 2-3 years at least but right now I'm giving him a D-
I think saying most scouts had lower rankings on these guys is a bit overdramatic. Boisvert was expected to go top 20 and Vanacker was a late riser that fills the need we have for a goal scoring LW. Dude is a stud scoring 82 pts playing the entire year with a torn shoulder labrum.
For added context, boisvert and Vanacker had nearly the same ranking on NHL central scouting and NHL teams were clearly higher on both compared to consensus and lower on a guy like eiserman.
@@justinrenaud4818 It was a safe, solid draft. That’s it. However, it had the possibility of being a transcended draft and that’s what Kyle Davidson missed out on!
Same thing was said about Allen, Rinzel, Nazar and on and on. It was extremely unlikely the 3/4 you or most would want even live up to your expectations, draft is always a crapshoot past 5 especially in a non star studded draft. All comes back to developing and teaching.
Im ready for the additions for this season being Mikheyev, and having Hall, AA, and Nazar full time. See what happens, and hopefully get a great forward in the 2025 draft. It would have been great to get that 4th pick this year, BUT 2025 could also be top 5
@Chewbachi I'm with you should have gotten demigod but next year is strong on forwards I can see hawks getting a good forward like misa or martone or hopefully hagens
I think they are around 7 million under the minimum salary cap. They probably get a bottom pair defenseman and a 2nd line forward in free agency. They will be bottom 4 again, unless several young players take big strides in their development.
Boisvert when Eiserman and Hage still available? Vanacker??? Would have been a fine pick at 50. Just think what we could have gotten at 34, Stiga, Badinka, Basha, Chernishov, etc…. Reminds me of taking Nolan Allan in the first round. At least the Rockford Icehogs will have some pretty good players for the next decade or so
@@shawnbrdlik6213 you know who was? Dominik Badinka, Alfons Freij, Charlie Elick, and my favorite and fitst round talent Andrew Basha. And just think we could have had any of those players and Teddy Stiga at 50. Instead we get a 3rd round talent at 27 and we could have had 2 first round talents at 34 and 50.
@@curtmassie2483 3rd round talent is laughable. You have names you like but I’m sorry armchair GM I trust KD more. There’s a reason Elick and Stiga didn’t go that high compared to late risers like Vanacker
@@shawnbrdlik6213 I’m glad you trust him, I did last year but when you screw up that bad you have to reevaluate. It’s not that I like any player it’s just that there were several more talented players available. At least we’ll get to enjoy Boisvert and Vansker playing for the Icehogs for the next decade
You really have to question the decision making. We should not have traded 2 second round picks for #27. That’s stupid… imagine if we would have offered next year’s first round puck and these two second rounders to have moved up to get Demidov.
Lev is not Makar or Bobby Orr. I don't believe he'll be able to live up to being picked that high. He may wind up being a good d-man but I think Demidov can be a 100+ point a year player. I don't think any Hawk fan was jumping up and down like last year. By the way, if/when Bedard is out with injuries in the future, who's the guy who can fill that level of skill? Answer: he was drafted 5th by Montreal.
What an absolute abysmal draft this year for us... 50 point season for absolutely nothing. Kyle is getting a C- with this draft. Looks like another 5 years of lottery picks if this is what we can expect every draft. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I understand the levshunov pick even though demidov is better. And love Vanacker. Hes really fucking good. I think passing on eiserman was a mistake even though boisvert is a ryan Kesler comp.
B+. Plenty of teams passed on eiserman so he was obviously not a fit for some teams and that must’ve included Blackhawks. Dont have any issues with how they drafted. Got the 16 and 17th ranked Central scouting NA skaters and got the 17th ranked guy after many ranked below him were taken. NHL first rounds are notoriously hit or miss similar to the MLB draft and I like the players we got.
You cant really rate a draft immediately, lets get real. Davidson has a staff of hockey lifers who have scouted all of these kids extensively, and they are pretty sure what they're getting. The fact that Demidov went at five should tell you something. I'll bet that most of those bitching about Boisvert and Vanacker have never heard of either of them.
Well when they don’t become anything but second or third liners and Demidov is in the race with Bedard for most points I don’t want to hear “we should have gotten him” 😂
People get locked into certain players forgetting that NHL draft rankings don’t really mean all that much past the top 10 players. Look at how Red wings fans reacted to drafting Moritz seider or how everyone was supposedly going to regret passing on Joe veleno. The D- and C grades are definitely overdramatic. We made 3 first round picks and got guys our staff wanted that are high character, high work ethic guys. Sometimes that matters more than flashy highlights and I like the guys we got (especially Levshunov). However, I also am not stupid and know they deviated from consensus rankings (like many teams do every year) so on paper it looks like we made huge mistakes. I don’t think it’s crazy to at least be excited about making three first round picks taking guys our scouting department wanted. And we have no idea what other teams’ boards looked like and there were plenty of non-consensus picks throughout the first round as per usual. This is just how the nhl draft is and guys we are convinced will work out often don’t and vice versa.
I don’t have a problem for slightly overpaying even for a reach if that’s someone who you really want and you believe he could be gone by your picks. But passing on Demidov for fking Levshunov is DIABOLICAL
It is trash.. especially when the top def defenseman who is touted asa work horse and freak athlete and is RH was the pick after 27… so not only did you pick a dman but picked one touted for everything but solid defense. Great job!!! We left 70 goals on the board heart to skip on actual defense
@@jyynarpalisenniemi6242 I really don’t trust that Kyle has a great sense of who is going to be available where. He was trying to get rid of assets last year to move up for Oliver Moore, who fell to him despite his inability to pull off a deal. This year they bled all of their second round assets to reach for Boisvert, who would have likely been available at 20, and Vanacker who was likely to be available at 34.
If you just said that you trust the decisions Kyle Davidson made it would make more sense and probably be more accurate. Why would you think these are “the right picks” otherwise?
@@dparis2172 and Frank Nazar and Oliver Moore are still prospect for Chicago. Playing the 200 foot game needs to improve, and a healthy AA, Taylor Hall, and maybe getting a look at Moore in the A or even big league can take care of that scoring, you don’t think we have. Frank Nazar was a point per game player everywhere, and showed some of that on his first shot in the league.
