Rabbids Go Home has one issue: It released during the time where Rayman was abandoned. People bashed this game to hell and back back in the day for simply not being "Rayman 4". Now at days this game is seen as a underrated gem and I love how peope's opinion on this game switched around since I always loved this game even back as a kid when I first played it

    • @ShowinGrowin
      @ShowinGrowin 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

Ironically, this game was developed by the team that was working on Rayman 4. It was their next game in development too, right after RRR1. While other teams worked on the direct RRR sequels, the R4 team worked on this game and some also worked on Rayman Origins. So ironically, people just didn't know the plan was to split them into different series.
Which makes sense why RGH is so different from rayman. It's basically a reboot intended to have no relation to the rayman series.

Really? Because I heard absolutely nobody talk about this game when it released. I only remember the commercial and a article in Nintendo Power magazine that was a decently sized preview of this game.

I’m happy more people are talking about RABBIDS GO HOME!
The controls feels tight when controlling the rabbids
    The gameplay is such fun!
The music is energetic and insane!
The way you get human clothes by making them naked is funny!
And yeah that’s another thing too this game is funny as hell I remember as a kid just keep laughing and laughing the whole way through the rabbids adventure!
I even remember getting this game along with a rabbids go home shirt for Christmas of 2009!
THAT is how you know how memorable this game was!
Super underrated game that I’m subbing right now!

Most single player Wii games like this had co-op features, where a second person can have a minor role in the game. Growing up with an older brother I would always be there playing with him even if all I would do is shout or shoot stars in Mario galaxy. I totally forgot about this game thanks for the memories! I’m gonna boot up my Wii and play this masterpiece again

i know im gonna sound absolutely INSANE saying this but rabbids go home is strangely atmospheric at times??? from what i recall?? like in those levels where youre on the rooftops, its so quiet and the only sounds are just the ambiance of everything outside
also i cant get enough of how batshit insane this game goes sometimes. i hadnt seen that ending sequence in a couple years and it just had my jaw on the floor the entire time. it gets even worse when the XL item for that level has a real person in it (the lady in the announcement booth, the bubble bed, stuff like that)
great video !!! cant wait to see more from you :]

I cannot BELIEVE this game is so engrained into my childhood that all i had to do to recognise what game this was was look at your cryptic thumbnail. It is such the perfect collection of items from the game that it immediately caught my attention and fired off the apparent 300tb's of memory i have of this game, constructing a shopping cart, tuba, cow, moon and plunger into a game. All its missing is a shit ton of toilet paper, a toilet, a quarantine bubble and a goddamn wii mote

Heck yea dude i loved this game as a kid. Me and my brother would be grinding out those levels trying to get past the time trials or get every item we saw. The thing that i loved most about this game was both the amazing high energy slapstick cartoony music and the uniqueness of the core gameplay itself. Weve seen plenty of collectathons in gaming history but none that you carry in a shopping cart that you steal from npcs and the environment. Especially love the attention to details like when you steal a speaker it stops playing like shopping mall music and starts ramping up that classic rabbids go home theme. The ability to see the rabbid in main menu in a wii remote replica, while also being able to hear them through the microphone every grunt or yell or giggle was so unique and fun, definitely loved that little feature as a kid just causing chaos and shaking the rabbid in your own wiimote just added to the super fun chaotic nature of this game. A unique gem i still remember fondly to this day

Woah, I really wasn't expecting to hear from this game again, this really made my day! Rayman Origins was my childhood and I remember really wanting to play Rabbids Go Home too due to how fun charming unique and interesting it was but I was never able to because I never had any console (I only had a PS3, the very first model btw, the curvy one with less storage space, which was given to me by someone I knew about half a decade ago, but I just didn't have anything to do with it, the only thing I played was Fat Princess, which was also a really fun game, damn I miss these kinds of creative games. But yeah, nowadays I just emulate things so I have no use for it). I remember how I tried to install it back when I was a kid on my PC but I was clueless back then and got a virus instead. I instantly recognized what this game would be from the thumbnail, even though I had completely forgotten about it. I finally found a way to play it with emulation and I'm really excited to finally try this one, thanks for reminding me of this hidden gem!

This game was a staple in my house back in the day. Like you mentioned, this game still plays super well nowadays and it’s certainly a great time. One thing that you didn’t mention is how the city and its residents grow more and more aware and fearful of the Rabbids as the game progresses. Just a nice piece of detail. The level I always remember is Fechez La Vache. I hated that level a lot back then, and still do!

  • @masonimous
    @masonimous 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Really solid review! I think a game similar to this is Katamari Damacy from the PS2. It has a similar unhinged feel in humor and the general idea of collecting everything you see with some connections to outer space. I think this game improved what Demacy started with in terms of controls and more movement and collecting mechanics.
I love it when games steal and improve on ideas.

I had a Wii for, like, a few months when I was younger, then sold it bc I felt bored playing on it. Rabbid's go home is the game I remember most playing, and was the main reason why I kept playing the Wii. It is to this day one of the games I have the most and best memories on, and it's honestly so nice to be reminded of this silly masterpiece one more time. My favorite Ubisoft game by far, and will always be, so long as they keep going on this path of soulless games. 10/10, would recommend to literally anyone.

Really enjoyed the video man! A clear partitioning between 'sections' of the game, like (music, level design, character design, comedy, visual gags, motion control games) would help with retention, at least I think. It felt a little random in structure, over the course of a minute you would be talking about other Ubisoft games, then motion control integration, then character customization, and it was a little hard to follow. (Plus, skimming over some parts of the game that don't contribute as much as other components might be the move!) Some background music would also add a lot! And, don't take what I've said the wrong way, I really enjoyed the video and I'm excited to see your future stuff! Subbed!

Used to think that I was the only person who still remembers this game. Well, aside from my nephew. One time he visited me and I decided to dust off the old Wii and Xbox 360 to occupy some time. I think I just happened to remember that this game exists and though it would be a good opportunity to relive some childhood. I remembered it being really frustrating cause he was like 5 at the time and insisted that I hold one end of the controller while he holds the other (weird kid logic I guess). Anyways, the only reason this game has remained fresh on my mind is because of that, and every other time my nephew has come to visit me. He's gotten pretty good at it too. Praying they do a remake someday (but wouldn't count on it).

Really solid and indepth review, and well made too. Super enjoyable, and it was fun hearing such a big nostalgia point for me being revitalised. Honestly, really enjoyable, and was shocked to see your number of subscribers. It feels really studious, and I can tell this games means a lot to you, and you wanted to give it the respect that, frankly, it deserves. I think you could've maybe done with trying to create more energy, perhaps through some sound effects from the game between transitions, some music from the game, and possibly doing a few more run throughs of the script since it came off as a little monotone near the end, but it was obvious you cared about this game, so it never felt boring, just a little shy. I think if you're intending to make more, focus on what specifically you like about a game, and really ham that up. Talk about why you love it, why you think it's so strong and maybe bring in its shortcomings. Video games are multi-disciplinary artistic pieces, so you could easily make a video of similar length just talking about the history of drifting, for example, and how Rabbids Go Home combines it with the game mechanics, or the music, or the visual style. It's not because doing an overview is *bad*, but it was obvious that parts of it were more personal than others, it seemed you cared a lot about the sound design, writing and the core concept, so maybe focusing on those more would be for the better, since it will naturally break through that initial barrier of shyness. This video makes me want to see more of your opinion, so honestly, consider moving away from trying to analyse the GAME, and instead analyse your TAKE on the game. You might end up finding it more fun, and it can make your analysis very personal and engaging. Great video all in all, hope this is the start of something big

Wow, I’ve never heard about this game before! The design philosophy and the humor actually remind me a lot of Rayman 3, which is crazy to say about one of the Rabbids sequels to this game, while being a huge fun of Rayman 3D platformers who usually thinks of Rabbids being guilty for ending that fun.
I’ve never had a Nintendo console up until 2019, but since then I’ve bought a 3DS and a Wii U, so now I’m definitely inta-buying a used copy of Rabbids Go Home! Thanks! 😁

Ive always thought one of the things Rabbids Go Home nails is taking the core idea of the Katamari series (Rampid kelptomania to grow something with wackier presentations) and moulded it to work in a more interconnected world- Katamari tends to only have a few areas reused as much as they can (for good reason) which at times makes it feel small (and then literally does when you're nicking the buildings) but as the Rabbids never chance size it keeps the scale of the city you're robbing big so when you do get to nab something big like the jet engine or the clock, they feel more impactful to your end goal

God I remember playing this game during my step-dad’s nephew birthday. I played it with this kid who came with this Mexican food truck and was allowed to go and play with us. That day was when I learned about the funny song from this game as well

just some correction on the social satire of this game: it was made in france during nicolas sarkozy's presidency, a right wing man whose campaing catch phrase was "work more to earn more" which ended up in a policy that made extra hours and out of contract work way easier to do for companies, and most of the satire of this game is actually about sarkozy's france, a france of consumerism, shorter breaks, more work hours, repression of free speech and protests, haven't changed much since. I love how as an american you were able to appropriate its message to your country, awesome video, loved this game since i was a kid, glad to see a positive discussion on it without the salt of rayman fanboys.

That's really interesting. Given that the game is set in a fictional American city, it was easy to draw those connections I stated. I wonder if the devs intentionally looked for overlaps between French and American culture or it just worked out that way

Its kinda sad to see that trust factor is declining on Ubisoft latelly just because they can't think out of the box like before, all of Ubisoft games now just looks, plays and feels the same but with a diferent theme, rather than being totally diferent and still fun like they should... Then, most of the "inovative titles" either become delayed (Beyond good and evil 2), canceled or... with get the "AAAA masterpiece" that is Skull and Bones (AKA nerfed AC4BF)🥴

I was 3 when the game came out and when I got the Wii (my first home console!!) and since then it’s been one of my favourite games ever. I wish Ubisoft would revisit ideas like this (or just remaster this game like pls I want it on switch)

I remember buying some of the rayman rabbids games at GameStop in around 2018/2019 and had a really good time with them for how cheap they were

Originally I didn't like the rabbids but after the minion craze I felt personally insulted how everybody forgot that the rabbids were the original annoying cute horde. Looking back at them makes me realize how innovative they were

hey, really nice review you pulled out! this is certainly one of the most underrated wii gems in all of the console's history and I'm always happy to see people talking about it! btw I think that the video and your points were really engaging but you should really put more music in background when you talk, this way it'd be more upbeat and fun to listen to you. Anyway great vid so keep it up!!

I remember crying when i finished the game (i was a die hard rabbids fan when i was a child, don't judge me) and i replayed that game so much i basically did playtesting because, at some point, i fell through the map on the tire level and another time, got stuck on the game over screen. I think the game just wanted me to stop playing and give him a rest lololol but hell yeah, peak childhood game!
