I'm 40 so my reactions are slow, I also had bad habits so play strategically. I've been practicing ducking, strafing and shooting and that's helped me win so many more gun fights . My son who just turned 9 now playes Apex with me and within 8 weeks he's consistently getting 2k in tough lobbies and just got 3k with 12 kills . I find it's knowing your strengths and weaknesses. My kd is not great but has gone up since playing I'm a well structured team. 736 wins . Have had 11 wins in a day before although skill ceiling was far lower.
I feel ya! I'm 41 and play with my son. I've been playing since season 5. I'm ok but I don't play as much as I should to get really good. I still have a great time. Apex got me back into gaming
No fill actually helped me get over my fear of being in a 1v2 or 1v3 situation and helped me understand how to isolate and how to approach third parties better. But hats just what worked for me since I always had that fear, but now it’s gone.
Took the hunter mentality advice to heart. I didn’t realize I had been playing like prey this whole time. Dropped my first game above 10 kills in duos last night. 15k 3,300 dmg on pathy. Thx mangos!
My complaint about hot drops: There is not enough loot in a building for multiple teams to land and fight. I can't tell you how many times I'm dominating the hot drop in fragment, clearing every team in our building, just to get killed because I have no ammo, no grenades, and no heals. Nothing is more frustrating than winning the hot drop just to get killed by a team who went and looted Epicenter and pushed fully kitted while you're still picking up guns off the ground to have a single clip. I prefer to land on the outskirts of the hot drop or at another monument that has a few teams, but not half the map. I want to be fighting as soon as possible, but I want to choose my fight and scrambling for loot ain't it.
i completely agree with the “landing far from others” me and my friend would land away from anyone, spend time looting and where REALLY bad, but now that we land at hot drops and are slowly improving :)
bro u are the reason why my teammates never know when not to take a fight like yh pushing is good but not always the right chose but keep up the good work

I need to find balance with my friend . I want to be slightly more aggressive , and he's a bit too passive . Movement probably isn't somewhere I'll improve much since I'm only comfortable on ps4 controller on PC (I'm just not a Mk guy for everything ). Dropping hot still doesn’t make sense to me bc it’s luck of the draw for a weapon and then your team dies instantly most of the time. Very frustrating! I’m usually still alive and my teammates have died. Doing the same thing over and over without success doesn’t make sense to me. My teams have won exponentially more NOT dropping hot.
When I play pubs I don’t go for wins. I try to get the most kills and damage that I can just for practice. Learning to fight with minimal items is crucial.

He’s actually a decent shooter, but his decision making and lack of teamwork get him killed all the time. Especially in Apex. I Disagree with the hot dropping tip, talking about wasting time looting you are also wasting time if you're dropping in Frag and dieing on drop because you'll get hardly anytime to improve if your back in the lobby within 30 seconds. Instead land nearby a hot drop, gear up fast and work with whatever gear you find is way better than dropping hot finding no gun and failing cus there 30 players around you.
This is exactly what I just wrote before I saw your comment. I’ve NEVER been on a winning team that dropped hot. Not once. I’m usually alive and my team has died and there’s two teams around so it’s impossible to get their banner. F-- that. So over that losing strat. I’m in it to win. Not get one kill and die!

Some people think playing arena will make them a better player. But the truth is arena is only for beginners to learn basic gun fights and improve in mechanics and aim. But for above beginner level players it's not that worth other than warmup imo. Thing is, arena playstyle is a lot different than BR. There's a lot of other things to look out for in BR such as looting, inventory management, learning to play without the prefered gun in hand, rotation, fighting multiple teams, armour/gun swaps midfight, positioning, when to push/when not to, finding different routes to push enemies they won't expect, how to escape if needed. In conclusion for me..play BR, drop hot and die and learn of what you could have done different to survive and win fights/games rather than ego challenging, poking aim battle in arena without the fear of getting 3rd partied.
