  • In this video, I talk about what you can do if you own an old film camera, and the batteries for that camera are no longer manufactured. This is a very common problem for many cameras manufactured before 1975. In the video, I discuss a few solutions for this problem.
For many years, the batteries for these cameras were mercury oxide. A very popular size was the PX 675. However, mercury oxide batteries were banned in the mid 90s, so people who still liked to use their old cameras were suddenly faced with a big problem. How would they power the light meter in their old cameras?
If you are like me, you probably own a bunch of vintage cameras from the 60s or 70s, and maybe even older. After years of collecting vintage film cameras, I have noticed that in many cases, the light meter is one of the first things to go on an older camera. But, if the light meter is still functioning, you definitely want to find the proper batteries to power it!
As I have mentioned in previous videos, I am a big fan of the Konica line of Auto reflex cameras that were made from the late 60s right up until the mid 80s. Many of the cameras in this line were originally powered with PX 675 mercury oxide batteries.
Watch this video and I will go over a few ways that you can get around this issue!
Do you collect old 35mm film cameras? Which ones do you own? Do you have a favorite? Have you used any of the solutions discussed in this video? Feel free to leave a comment!
