absolutely beautiful town , the house needs lots of updates. The rooms are very large with beautiful floors and lovely views. I would remove most of the furnishings and the wood paneling and then move in at a very affordable price.

Dave! This has to be one of the best places you’ve ever shown us. Not only because we’d be neighbours, but because the town has so much going for it with amenities etc, the house does need some work but nothing major - new boiler yes, check the wiring throughout but other than that, sand and paint that panelling for now, take the wallpaper off, fresh coat of white paint, and you’re good to go. What I love is the space in the basement with the little bit of outside space - my two dogs and I would be out there most of the day ❤ I only wish I had the money to buy this! I’d spend my 3 months there, come home to the UK, and then come back again. Living the absolute dream!!
Very nice, Dave. Yes, keep the fridge. You've mentioned before about being in a band. Maybe a separate video someday? I was a Mott the Hoople fan myself.
I'll probably be called a heretic 😅- but I'd renovate the kitchen. I'd keep those tiles, as they're bomb. I'd install a new kitchen, all white & make the tiles the feature, and I'd lean completely into the 70's 'mod' vibe. I'd put one of those large orange dome lights over the kitchen table, an orange dinette kitchen table + some chrome & white vinyl covered chairs. The bedrooms I'd strip them and give the walls a soft, light white paint - some softer furniture, like a sofa/armchairs. And as someone else has said, with those fabulous white steps, I'd paint the wood panelling in the stairs a bright white to bring as much light in as you could. The bathroom I'd eventually reno - keep everything where it is, but remove the bath & make the whole end of the room a walk in shower ... maybe all white with some black accents. And love the idea of exploring the possibility of a roof terrace, especially with those views in either direction. Nice find. And those views.
I would've loved to see this property in person last week. Is the ceiling in the bigger bedroom a drop ceiling? Terrific orange tiles in the kitchen are a must-keep! The eyes of the fox are a riot!
Fantastic for the price. The livingroom is ample and the bedrooms are nice and large. Also ample storage below. I wish it had a diningroom, but again, for the price what's here is very nice.
Dave what a fab house I love love love the orange tiles and retro furniture. One could paint that pine paneling. It would be a great wainscoting. . Like you said take off the wallpaper and curtains even the cork can stay. I would really love that apartment. I don't like the messy neighbors yard but the beautiful street lovely and the VIEWS wow. Gina in Upstate New York USA moving to Italy/Portugal. I would paint the cabinets too they are nice but everything needs a bit of creativity and vision. Drop ceilings bet they are high ceilings. They loved pine, pine doors too..One could paint all that pine white. Awesome price for such a big space
The kitchen is incredible! I am the USA in New England and that is knotty pine wood paneling and it was not cheap! Not here anyway. I love it!. I have never liked wallpaper. So get rid of the wallpaper and paint it light color. That living room 😂 James Bond style for sure.
Ciao Dave, I really love this house, for the price you can gut the place remove all the 70's style and make the house up to today's standards without compromising the integrity of the home. I wouldn't remove anything that is original to the home. I would get a new fridge/freezer but keep the one that's there for a 2nd one. I am to assume this won't be on the market long. amore da N.Y.
Not crazy about the 70s vibe. However, this place has good bones and can be moved into with no problem then renovated and updated over time. Some of the furniture is not my style but it is vintage and could easily be sold.
A great buy! Only cosmetic updating required the basic structure is fine. But yes, as someone else said 'everything would have to go'! Do you help find the people to do the work Dave eg stripping out the panelling, checking the electrics etc.
kitchen orange tiles are de light full. I would white wash all other cupboards and walls to make those tiles stand on their own and not compete with all the other colours and textures. Furniture can be painted as well..all good
Before spending any time or money taking down the fake panelling & cork wall covering, I would simply paint over everything with a very light (probably white) paint. Although there would be some texture remaining I think it would largely make the walls become invisible (like a blank canvass). You can also now get very good tile paints to address the kitchen decor or even the bathroom tiles (which I didn't loath) for the time being. The display cabinets in the living room look almost Art Deco to me and I might keep them. Wouldn't want any pre-owned upholstered pieces, bedroom furnishings from the larger room, or the kitchen or dining tables & chairs but I quite like the fittings of the kitchen (cupboards). Would use the old fridge as a pantry or a beverage cooler, and put a proper fridge on the opposite wall with some additional storage cupboards. Larger bedroom upstairs would be a quiet library/study and I'd use the back bedroom for my sleeping space possibly keeping its furniture. Like that there is a tub, but then you mentioned the necessity for a car, so sadly...that's me out.
Sorry, Dave, but the furniture would have to go, along with the wood paneling and wallpaper. I think I'd want to find out if I could create a roof terrace.
