@@theosantana7750 it all depends on you. I have OO who make 8-10k a week but I also have guys that make 5-6k but are home every weekend. It all depends on how you drive and how long you can be on the road.

You’re gonna learn a lot the hard way and it’s going to be expensive. Good thing loads are paid now otherwise no way could you get out of school and go big. Good job and I know he’s going to be successful.

Even with experience I’m still learning the hard way. Don’t pay for things you can do yourself. Shop around for insurance don’t be afraid to call 10 different insurance companies. Don’t be afraid to refinance your truck for a cheaper payment. Trucks that are clean tend to have less inspections but don’t quote me on that. Give when ever you can and don’t expect anything back. Keep that left door closed. Alway Pre-Trip and Post-Trip; it’s easy to get lazy.

Yep! I know more than one that has done this. Back in the day before driving schools and CDLs, a guy would buy a truck then hire an experienced driver to run team until he was comfortable.

That still sounds like a good idea to me. There are horror stories all over about assigned trainers that do all kinds of weird stuff when a trainee is on board and I don't mean criminal stuff either.

Run under your LLC you get more write offs, if something happens its under your LLC not your ssn, they can't come after your personal assets.

@@Montoya1991 It's just a designated waiting period. The FMCSA checks to see if you're compliant and able to meet certain safety standards.
My sons and I got our own authority in 2014. For the first 2 years Progressive was the only Insurance company that would insure us. Paid $30,000 plus the first year and $27,000 the second year. 3rd year was able to go back to Great West For around $19,000
You had to pay 30K for insurance on your truck ???? I'm not a trucker and don't know the insurance prices etc so I'm confused how the hell insurance is that high for a truck. That 30K is more then slot of people make a year
@@MichaelAMyers1957 yes for one truck and trailer. Liability, cargo and physical damage too. Because we were a new carrier and didn't have a safety rating. Being a new carrier we were considered high risk even though we had over 2 years driving and owning our own truck and trailer.

Call it what you want but...having 0 driving experience with no oversight is dangerous...theres a reason why we go company 1st or drive with a experienced driver... its to learn how to drive a 80,000 pound machine. This dude gonna be out there driving like a 4 wheeler... and the moment he hits someone the excuse will be I didn't know....well of course...nobody taught you how to drive...only to pass the test.
