Thank you so much for this video. Just did this on my 90 d250. One tooth missing in the small gear. Great video, I followed you along and got it done without breaking anything. Thanks
I fixed mine by taking the green wire on the circuit board out and stripping the wire back just enough for fresh wire that wasn’t bent and weak and soldered it back on and Finally my odometer is working again!
Great video. Everyone should know drill is in reverse. I just watched a good video on here of another Canuck showing how to delete the computer with an automatic. Its pretty cool to see what he did. -Shiny
Hey man, love the video. The quick look at the circuit board looked like something crapped out and was discolored. A good multimeter and you can check the resisters and such.
Lol..someone at my work did the same thing with this vid. "I was watching youtube and I recognized this guys voice...looked at the channel name and was like...WAIT! WHAT?"
@@OvensGarage i did the same haha. Love you truck man I'm hoping to pick up a 5 speed 93 next month. I love yours was looking for this because the speedometer and odometer don't work on this one
Great video, THANK YOU!. Can you tell us about the LEDs you put in your cluster? Are they dim-able? and can you tell us where we can buy them online? Thanks!
Thanks for watching. I got the LEDs at superbrightleds dot com. They don't dim very much but they are nice and bright! They haven't held up too well though unfortunately after a few years. I believe the contacts have come loose a bit and the lights have gone out. I just haven't gotten around to going back in there and adjusting them again.
Really wish I watched this before taking apart my 2nd cluster. I did not know you can reach the gears without removing speedometer needle. Now I I have 2 speedometers with broken needles smh.
Hey buddy great video and beautiful truck, my problem is, my Odometer and speedometer don't work. You think it could be the gears as well or just the speed sensor itself. Thank you in advance.
Hi I have one Dodge Ramcharger 1991 that speedometer start indications floating between 80 to 150 when I driving slow right now when set switch on immediately speedometer go to full speed so stay all time until shut switch off ignition can you please any possibility wrong
gorgeous truck man.i have the same truck but mines gas.same color as well. I was wondering were you got the led lights for the dash. what size are they? I'd like to do that up grade my seen to be very dim.much different then the new stuff today
Speedometer not working is a sign that your VSS down by the transfer case may be faulty. I'd try taking the connection out first and cleaning it up then take the vss out next and clean it. If that doesn't work take a drill and put the end of the vss in it and spin the drill to see if it works. If it doesn't chances are your vss needs replaced.
@@kellymichael7362 I'd have to check the FSM but I believe the odometer is controlled by input from the VSS so your odometer shouldn't roll over if you have a bad VSS. The speedo issue might be something internal to the gauge if that's the case.
@@kellymichael7362 factory service manual. I'd start by checking the wiring diagrams and then see if there's a section on odometer/speedometer diagnosis.
Check and make sure the baby gear is on correctly. One side of the gear has a longer shaft/spacer that need to face the bigger gear. If you flip it the gears won’t mesh right and will not work.
See if you can remove the sensor at the t-case, chuck it in a drill and spin it to see if it's making a voltage output at high rpm. Maybe it's a bad sensor.
Thank you so much for this video! I just found a broken gear and replaced it. My mind has been boggled for a long time regarding the two different styles of speedometer/odometer… Did you find it was due to an automatic versus manual?
I'm not sure if it was an automatic vs manual thing, I thought it was a year difference thing. It could have also been where the trucks were assembled they may have used different parts for assembly.
I've always run a garmin gps in my truck. I've got a bit newer one now but they work great. I've even uploaded my own map export from open street maps now for better back roads and path details.

The wire must’ve been linked from the position it sits and was broke a little. Hope it fixes y’all’s issues. Let me know if I does!

Yeah, I need to become more savvy in the electronics department.. haha. This was my fix though since I had a spare set of gauges!
Tyler Ovens I'm just getting started going through my 93, identical twin to yours. The videos are an awesome companion to the manual.
You can use a 9v battery to test the circuit board if it will engage the magnets by the motor

Hey were you able to remove the pc board from the bank of the 93 speedo when you changed the odometer numbers.
Just fixed mine using this method but is there any easy way to add the missing miles besides spinning the vss with a drill?
Legality issues aside the only way to do it is disassemble the cluster tamper proof design and roll it over by hand then put it back together.
@@OvensGarage ok thanks for the video and reply!
Tyler...where did you buy the parts? Having trouble finding them. Thanks!
I find them on Amazon for 16 dollars

Make sure if you try to lube it YOU DON"T. it doesn't need it and you will have issues (just say'n)
