    Peg fishing ? Is this fishing between two markers ? Love this film, I’ve listened to it several times. Thanks!!!!!!!

      Exactly that. The section of river you are assigned to fish lies between two markers; one at the upstream limit and one at the downstream limit.

    Thank you, learnt so much from your channel , please could i ask about ,”how to poly wheel “

    • @OKCKettlebells
      @OKCKettlebells 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, very intriguing and also want to know how to “poly wheel?”

    • @FishingDiscoveries
      @FishingDiscoveries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think that "pulley wheel" effect we talked about is best described in Karel Krivanec's book "Czech Nymph and Other Related Fly Fishing Methods". It is the section on "Janus' Wetfly Method". Thanks, Paul

    Any one watching this should have learned something about different styles of nymphing ? Nice one.

      Thanks John, I enjoyed getting into some of the slightly more techy stuff with Howard - so I hope others (like yourself) might have enjoyed what we spoke about. Paul

    When you are describing the upstream nymphing setup from the sighter mono will you adjust the lenght of level leader to suit the depth of river and try to get the nymphs down to bottom or use 18s or 20s nymphs and let them fish at their own level

    • @FishingDiscoveries

      Speaking personally, whatever the size of flies being fished - it is my job to get them to the feeding depth of the fish. That might be just under the surface or it might be in several feet of water. One of the main jobs of the point fly, then, is to control how quickly each fly on the tippet reaches its fishing depth. So, it's possible to use a fast-sinking point fly to pull the smaller dropper fly (or flies) down to the desired depth. Equally, you might be allowing quite light flies to fish fairly close to the surface. In all cases, there is an important trade off between the length of tippet - where the shorter it is; the better the contact and bite-detection. The longer your tippet is - you may be able to reach a greater depth; but you will also lose some contact and the associated bite-detection. Your job is to negotiate the best compromise. Paul (Howard may, of course, have more or different thoughts on those points!).
